On the recommendation of a friend, My mom chose Wages and Sons. After reading some positive reviews, I agreed that they were the one. The facility was decorated ornately Although some might call it cluttered. Either way, it's a funeral home. I couldn't help it when I shuddered. We were doing a memorial elsewhere, So they worked with us on the price. I assume that they do that a lot. But my mom thought it was nice. My brother in law was there for the viewing Since none of us were up to the task. He actually volunteered to do it. It was way more than I would have asked. They were expedient with the cremation. Soon we picked up his ashes. It's hard to believe that he's gone. It's amazing how quickly life flashes. The next day we held a celebration of life At my father's favorite restaurant. It was a beautiful send off. I know it's everything he would want. I have to say thank you to Kent. He was gentle in handling our grief. My mother and I were close, such as I could call her at 1:00 in the morning because I knew she'd be awake close. But she was beloved by many, not just me. My father adored her and knew he would be devastated. He was. He had always dreaded the funeral home experience because he was convinced he would have to fight to spend all the time he could with her on the days before the funeral. He just knew they would have certain times to visit. He knew he would want to spend every waking moment beside her holding her hand saying good bye. Just out of familiarity we went to Wheeler Funeral Home on Brown Bridge road. There we met a man who had found his calling in life. He was a funeral director that truly loves people and his chosen profession. Brad Bailey was the sweet, kind angel that, for us, was sent to guide us through the shock of losing the matriarch of our family. Saying that he was kind and caring and understanding just do not do his actions justice. Brad was beyond any words to describe his loving kindness over the next four days. He actually continues that same help even now as we are getting the markers and special arrangement for the cemetery plots. Brad welcomed my dad each morning at 8:00 as he knew my dad would be there all day until closing. Brad constantly checked in with him during the day. He made sure he had food or drink or was comfortable. My dad set every day all day holding my mothers hand with love and the support of Brad and the entire staff. Everyone was so kind! On Wednesday the day of the viewing that night, Brad came in early and cooked a beautiful breakfast because he was worried my dad was not eating enough. As my dad and I and the the rest of the staff sat and ate breakfast, I knew that this was a business of love and understanding. Under quarantine rules no funeral could have more than 10 visitors. My mom had a church and local community of people that loved her. They all wanted to say goodbye. So Brad was inspired to have my mom placed at the door leading to the carport where the hearse usually parks. We draped my mother with one of her famous quilts and for over 2 hours non-stop cars drove by. All her and my dad's friends from 65 years of marriage were able to come by and speak to my dad and say goodbye to my mom. Meanwhile Brad directed traffic and a sweet staff member Gloria Jean wrote down the names of every car load of people. What was a disaster because of the quarantine became a beautiful evening of tribute to my mother. There so much more that Brad did above and beyond the required. He is a special man, as well as, the great staff at Wheeler Funeral Home. This is where you want to take your loved ones to say good bye.

He came out to talk to my family when we were picking out the service for my father. He was just plain weird. He asked a lot of questions and dragged this out. He got defensive when my sister said something he didn't like. We ordered an urn that was similar to my late brother's and were told it was being sent from another location in the area. He said he would call us the next day so we could see it to make sure we liked it. The call didn't come until days later on the morning of the service, that the urn was not there. We would have had time to go to other funeral homes and purchase one if we had been told earlier. There was plenty of time. We could have ordered one on the internet and gotten it there in time. Greg Meadows offered $100 off like it was a late pizza delivery. They wanted to put an empty urn up there for people to pretend to say goodbye too. I was so mad I had to let my brother-in-law talk to them. A young man named Heath actually understood the situation and made it better. He GAVE us an urn that turned out to be quite nice. In the end everything was okay. Only because of the young man named Heath, who was apologetic and sympathetic. Also Greg Meadow's brother was there on the day of my dad's service and he just stared at us creepily. You've been warned.

I could never give enough thanks to the staff there because they were simply amazing and help bring comfort to me, my love ones, and her friends that came to view her. p.s. they also put the obituary online on there website and they're leaving it up until 12/31/2016 so for my family that couldn't make it they can view it and even sign her guest book.

The staff at Meadows went above and beyond after I was referred to them. We had a disappointing experience with another funeral home and Meadows stepped in and saw to it that the services were impeccable. We were able to use their beautiful chapel and they handled getting us a musician. They're staff worked with my out-of-town relatives on the funeral program and it was beautiful. Korey, Mrs. Nelson and the rest of the staff were always available if we had any questions and they made sure all the i's were dotted and t's were crossed. You don't really know the cost of a funeral until you have to plan one and it can be really expensive. Meadows offered very reasonable pricing and I know it's probably taboo to discuss, but when you need the services you want to know that you aren't being taken advantage of during such a stressful time.
