We were directed to Wheeler for the remains of our pup and I am severely disappointed. For the amount of money we paid the best they could do for her remains was a tin box that the lis doesn't stay on. Sadly we had to have another pup put down a week later and the service the pet ER gave us was $100 less and comes with an appropriate urn box. read more

Yes, definitely one of the worst circumstances during the quarantine is to have a beloved family member pass. My mother and I were close, such as I could call her at 1:00 in the morning because I knew she'd be awake close. But she was beloved by many, not just me. My father adored her and knew he would be devastated. He was. He had always dreaded the funeral home experience because he was convinced he would have to fight to spend all the time he could with her on the days before the funeral. He just knew they would have certain times to visit. He knew he would want to spend every waking moment beside her holding her hand saying good bye. Just out of familiarity we went to Wheeler Funeral Home on Brown Bridge road. There we met a man who had found his calling in life. He was a funeral director that truly loves people and his chosen profession. Brad Bailey was the sweet, kind angel that, for us, was sent to guide us through the shock of losing the matriarch of our family. Saying that he was kind and caring and understanding just do not do his actions justice. Brad was beyond any words to describe his loving kindness over the next four days. He actually continues that same help even now as we are getting the markers and special arrangement for the cemetery plots. Brad welcomed my dad each morning at 8:00 as he knew my dad would be there all day until closing. Brad constantly checked in with him during the day. He made sure he had food or drink or was comfortable. My dad set every day all day holding my mothers hand with love and the support of Brad and the entire staff. Everyone was so kind! On Wednesday the day of the viewing that night, Brad came in early and cooked a beautiful breakfast because he was worried my dad was not eating enough. As my dad and I and the the rest of the staff sat and ate breakfast, I knew that this was a business of love and understanding. Under quarantine rules no funeral could have more than 10 visitors. My mom had a church and local community of people that loved her. They all wanted to say goodbye. So Brad was inspired to have my mom placed at the door leading to the carport where the hearse usually parks. We draped my mother with one of her famous quilts and for over 2 hours non-stop cars drove by. All her and my dad's friends from 65 years of marriage were able to come by and speak to my dad and say goodbye to my mom. Meanwhile Brad directed traffic and a sweet staff member Gloria Jean wrote down the names of every car load of people. What was a disaster because of the quarantine became a beautiful evening of tribute to my mother. There so much more that Brad did above and beyond the required. This is NOT the place to use if you want the remains of your pet handled as you are expecting.... you might want to ask if they do group cremations OFF their premises that they get for a reduced fee - and then pretend that the ashes you are getting actually ARE your pet. Its very sad for those who trust that the pet is being taken care of in a special way when that is NOT the case. VERY SAD. read more

My cat passed in June and I was recommended to this place and was so glad I did. I did the private and I went and viewed it all. The man there was so comforting and amazingly respectful and understanding. I couldn't have asked for a better solution to the situation. I would absolutely recommend them. If you have any questions or concerns about the process, go in and watch. My cat looked so peaceful and was handled with such care and what could only be described is as love. This is a family owned and run business for 20 years that is a full service funeral home with 2 crematories - My Mom's burial arrangements were left to the moment of her death so we were very unprepared. Luckily I found this place and since Mom wanted to be cremated and buried in her home town up North they were able to take care of all this including getting us the Death certificates and shipping next-day of her remains -all done in a timely fashion and caring manner. I was glad to see they had their own Crematory on the premises as I was leery of what could happen if the cremation was "hired out." Everyone there responded quickly to my many phone calls and emails and treated every detail with respect and concern for their client's wellbeing. Their prices were very reasonable when compared to some other places I called. I would definitely feel good about having them handle any further Final Arrangements of Family or Friends, be it Funeral, Burial or Cremation. read more
