There were wires all over the floor and a VIOLATION notice on the door because she had been running her generator for over 30 days. This indicated to me that this had been an issue for a while... Why were we not notified ahead of time about the electricity? She offered to let us stay one night with the generator running, and to book us a hotel for the other night. We declined the one night, as we didn't feel safe staying in a location with all these wires everywhere and a violation notice on the door. And luckily, after some scrambling, found a hotel to stay in for two nights. I looked at reviews online, to see where I had gone wrong in booking this location, and noticed a recent review from October noting the same issue we were facing in November. I had booked our suites in August and therefore hadn't check since then. But was this issue was ongoing for two months? When I reached out the following week to request a refund, she said she had no money to refund us. It's now been a month and she has still not refunded me for the stay that didn't happen. I implore you to find accommodations elsewhere. Even if the electricity issues are fixed by this point, my experience indicates that this business may have other issues...

The breakfast food was nasty and greasy on the third day but on the first and second, it was a little better. If they are not going to fix the side security doors, then they should hire a security guard. The Fitness room door was also broken. The wallpaper in my room was peeling off, had tons of air bubbles, and even patches where there were holes in the wall. The housekeeper left my ice bucket filled with water and did not replace the plastic bag to get more ice on my second and third day. This was not such a great experience. I have to find a better hotel for my next visit next month.

It was either cold or very hot. The bed also squeaked all during the night. Went to the front desk the next morning to my complaint and was told that the general manager was not in and that I would call me later that day to discuss. Five-night stay with no routine housekeeping - extremely disappointing for a repeat guest…read more I have stayed at the Cambria White Plains several times for business, but after this experience I am seriously reconsidering returning. I checked in Sunday evening and immediately found the room was not adequately cleaned, including hair in the bathroom. I reported it the following morning and requested that the room be cleaned. The hotel texted me that morning stating, "We've arranged Housekeeping service for your room following your third night." The room was cleaned Monday only because I had reported the condition in which I received it. After that, I received no housekeeping for the remainder of my five-night stay - no trash removal, fresh towels, clean linens, replenished coffee cups, or routine room service of any kind. The promised third-night service never occurred. When I finally called the front desk Thursday evening, I was told that if housekeeping had not been scheduled at check-in, my room would not be serviced. That explanation directly contradicted the written message I had received from the hotel stating that housekeeping had already been arranged. The physical condition of the room was also disappointing for a rate exceeding $300 per night. There was visible evidence of prior water damage and repairs, including a large patched section of ceiling, damaged/stained walls, water damage inside framed bathroom artwork, and mismatched/incomplete bedside furnishings. I have photos documenting the condition. I raised concerns during my stay, contacted Choice Hotels Customer Relations, and opened Case #13625998. Choice documented my complaint and advised that it had been shared with hotel management. I then contacted the hotel directly with photographs and documentation requesting that management address the situation. I checked out after five nights without a manager ever contacting me or acknowledging what happened. As a repeat business guest and Choice Privileges Elite member, this was particularly disappointing. I travel to this area regularly and have previously continued choosing this hotel despite some imperfections. After this stay - and particularly the lack of follow-through - I am now looking at other properties for my upcoming trips.

I also requested a handicapped accessible room, as my BIL was staying with me, and he is mostly wheelchair bound. After check-in, I learned the the handicap rooms are on the 8th floor. So, the reasons for the low rating: (1) the handicap rooms are the furthest from the elevator, literally from one end of the hall to the other; well over 100 feet. (2) sign by elevator that says, "In case of fire, use stairs." This is kind of ridiculous, to expect a wheelchair bound person, to descend 8 floors. Which leads to the question, "Why put handicap rooms on the top most floor?" (3) Our room was very LOUD. Literally, when the HVAC unit came on, it sounded like a jet engine starting. On for 5 minutes or so, then off for 2 minutes. Rinse and repeat all night long (4) In a shower / tub area, the height of the tub was not conducive to a disabled person being able to use it. On a positive side, the bathroom was spacious, with 3 grab bars near the toilet. Note the 4 grab bars in the shower / tub area are useless if you can't get in. Another positive was the continental breakfast. Numerous options for both cold and hot items. 2 poorly designed stars. If you can't put handicap rooms on the ground floor, near an exit, you should not sell rooms as handicap.
