OMG I have never been so hot at a swim meet and I can't believe none of the grandparents fainted. Or me. There were crying babies and toddlers and OMG your older kid is going to swim a lot of events so really you dont need to see all of them. Send on parent to this meet, leave all other relatives at home. The kid on deck was fine. The meet started TEN minutes late which was only awful bc of the heat in the stands. BC of the style of this pool and deck, it's not easy to get in and out and wait in the hall between your kid's events.

All because I wasn't taking notes. I was born in Russia. I asked him where Baikal was. He is still looking. I did have very good science, bio and chem teachers. Horrible PE "teachers" failed athletes - Ms. Johnson and Mr. Nelson. The building is ok. A bit confusing at first. Lockers are tiny. Cafeteria is a zoo. Dont forget to check out the pool on the fourth floor.

I never felt safe there because of an occurrence with another student and the council it's don't really care how they feel. They only care about their paycheck. Not only that there are power outages at least three times a year. It's saying something when teachers have flash lights in their desks. Not only is it the logistics that are slow and bare minimum. Many of the teachers are terrible. In fact one teacher actually said to me "I get paid either way if you learns something". That's classy. Although I'm disappointed in my education at this school there were some really great times here. Mr. Maas was one of my favorite teachers and really got down to his students level to teach them things. My absolute favorite thing though. Is getting out of there. When a lot of people think of private Catholic schools, they think of rich white preppy kids and extremely conservative environments. Sure, there are kind who are well-off and sure there are some preppy kids, but when I was there it was a mix of socioeconomic and culturally/racially diverse backgrounds. The school was also very progressive - we had GLBT club and had people of a variety or religious backgrounds who were all welcomed. My favorite course was Brother David's World Religions course. It helped to shape who I am today more than any other course I have taken - including my college courses. I am very proud to be an Islander and only hope to be able to give this experience to my children as well!

It seemed like anyone who was involved in one afterschool activity was probably involved in three or more; it was the same group of magnet program (International Bacculaureate) kids in everything, over and over again. I had a good time here. In another school, I might have been on at best Quiz Bowl or math team, and been bored out of my mind - or possibly pregnant and on drugs - for most of the school year. I certainly wouldn't have made it on any sports teams in another school.

The school doesn't care what happens to white kids. They'll ignore the most egregious, awful behavior as long as it's directed at white kids. But they'll jump on the white kids if they react. The teachers often become very political which is totally inappropriate in a school.
