My second visit was for my nieces music program, which was done very nicely.. My niece speaks often and highly about all she learns, her teachers and her environment. If I had children, I would want them enrolled at Hope Academy as well. Ambiance: Located on Chicago Avenue and 25th. There was no lot adjacent to the school, however there is street parking and a ramp directly across the street. Growing up on the South Side, It is located literally next door to one of the most drug saturated parks in South Minneapolis (Franklin & Chicago), but prior to building the school, they started cleaning the park up. The neighborhood has changed some over the years and has become a different environment for children to play, bus and be educated. The school itself has secured doors and only one entrance in and out for visitors.

When I attended back in 2016-2017, they sent out an email to parents telling their kids not to be friends with me. What kind of establishment does that? Curtis would constantly pull me into his office for the smallest infractions and would come up to me in the hallways and lobby with accusatory behavior when I wasn't doing anything wrong. Curtis, since I'm now an adult and can speak to you as one. Screw you. You made my school life hell. I hope that you have changed as a person, since I was a student under you but I doubt it. I sincerely hope that you are not making other students feel the way you made me feel. Parents please be aware of him and ask your students their opinion on him to make sure he isn't targeting them.

Groves has been life changing for my son. He started in fourth grade and now he's in seventh. I…read morenoticed early on that he wasn't reading. Covid shut down for second grade didn't help either. He attended a different private school for third grade, but it didn't fit his needs. But they did help us discover that he had a problem with his eyes and needed eye therapy in order to be able to read. I was very concerned that he had missed the formative years of foundational, reading and writing. This is what led us to Groves. Most of his teachers have been spectacular every year. Extremely nurturing and encouraging. He's made huge strides in reading and writing. He now has so much more confidence and feels very comfortable at the school. The teachers are very communicative with parents. Also, the speech and language tutoring has been very helpful as well. If your child has issues with reading and writing, literacy, and executive functioning, I highly recommend Groves. I am so grateful for this school. They are doing very important work there and helping so many kids.

I am in my senior year right now. All this happened before the class of 2026 graduation ended. And thank the lord that none of friends would witness them treating special needs student like this. They don't have the right attitude to treat people with special needs or none special needs with kindness, compassion, respect, safe, loving, caring, respectful, and have the great attitude towards people with none special needs and or special needs. I will not be sending my siblings to this school to be treated the same as they treated me. My siblings have special needs. Everyone in my family not my parents have special needs and will not be sending my siblings there instead I will be sending them to White Bear Lake Area High School.

You can tell that a lot of staff members are there because they want to make a difference. However, my senior year was overshadowed by a serious incident involving a staff member, which was shocking and difficult for the student body to process. Experiencing that situation firsthand made the school feel less stable and less safe than it should have, and it changed the way many of us viewed the administration and the environment. So while Mounds View has strong academics and great teachers in many areas, that experience really complicated my overall impression of the school.

Lighthouse academy, an open-enrollment, college-preparatory charter school provides students with the assistance, training and resources needed to better prepare themselves for the next phase of their lives. And in the end setting the module for a better public education system for the youth in my opinion. The diversity of not just the students but the staff at this school is phenomenal. With open enrollment, students are given tests in English and Math to pool them with other students at their level of development. Utilizing an extended day of schedule, the staff get to work by understanding each youth's own set of circumstances beyond the classroom and than vigorously setting them on the path to get the best of themselves out of themselves. The next Emily Dickinson of our generation may or may not come from this school, but the commitment for learning shown by the staff and students alike is the "peculiar bent of the genius of each" that Plato once spoke of. I have the opportunity to be a community partner with Zanewood and have seen the school from the inside this past few months. B.
