They were the reason half of the kids went to our school and it's stupid they are letting go of student favorites. The food sucks, the halls have writing all over them, we have 4-5 fights each month, no one does anything about it. When students take it into their own hands it's gonna be crazy.

I don't really want to sully positive reviews here for negativity, but I was bullied at this school during my time as a student here. Not only from the students (two of whom I was in a toxic friendship with), but the PARAs, teachers and adults who should have known better. I was a disabled student with several family members that died during my junior and senior years, and I was yelled at for crying in class and for having panic attacks that were out of my control, causing increased mental breakdowns throughout the day. This school also has a history of racism and prejudice as a whole, and I had an unpleasant encounter with some students saying homophobic things to another student only to act like it was all a big joke, some other students in my class were joking about prison r*pe and genuinely thought it was funny, and my Mexcian peers were treated horribly by a staff member who I won't name solely because they were Mexican, and another PARA was so islamaphobic to another staff member that they made them cry. The only saving grace were the positive staff members who made my experience worthwhile, namely the receptionist, who I still have yet to call to thank her, my case manager, my writing teachers, and my science teachers. Still, I was afraid to report the toxic friendships I had with the two students I knew here due to the trauma I sustained. The way they treated me was no way to treat a student who experienced several deaths in the family. I would advise against sending your students here, but given the positive reviews others left based on their happy experiences, I would advise you make this decision for yourself and take caution if your child claims their teacher is out to get them because at Hopkins High, that claim may very well be true.

My kids leave home with a tail and ears which we are happy that they express themselves by zirrrrrr and it identify as a dog. Pulls it's tail and calls it mean names not acceptable. All because I wasn't taking notes. I was born in Russia. I asked him where Baikal was. He is still looking. I did have very good science, bio and chem teachers. Horrible PE "teachers" failed athletes - Ms. Johnson and Mr. Nelson. The building is ok. A bit confusing at first. Lockers are tiny. Cafeteria is a zoo. Dont forget to check out the pool on the fourth floor.

I never felt safe there because of an occurrence with another student and the council it's don't really care how they feel. They only care about their paycheck. Not only that there are power outages at least three times a year. It's saying something when teachers have flash lights in their desks. Not only is it the logistics that are slow and bare minimum. Many of the teachers are terrible. In fact one teacher actually said to me "I get paid either way if you learns something". That's classy. Although I'm disappointed in my education at this school there were some really great times here. Mr. Maas was one of my favorite teachers and really got down to his students level to teach them things. My absolute favorite thing though. Is getting out of there. We transferred to Heilicher where she found a much smaller classroom and is now reading constantly and loooves her teachers and friends. We are so fortunate we found Steve and Kate's through my work's backup care. The staff there are…read moreamazing, very friendly and organized. They have a safe and secure process in the morning for entering camp outside the facility. What really sets this apart is the variety of activities they have for kids of all ages. Never, ever, have my kids actually been exciting about going to "daycare" until we brought them here. The only disappointing feature is that they currently close in the winter. We will definitely bring them back once they reopen. So glad we found this place!

My partner and I were worried…read moreabout sending him there because he's super slow to warm up and usually doesn't want to go anywhere. He came home after his first day and LOVED it! He couldn't sleep that night because he was too excited to get back to camp. Haha! Every single day he had things to share with us and he said he had the best day. He learned a lot of new things and had many options everyday of what he could do. We were in Mpls for only two weeks this summer and he was really sad when he was having his last day. We'll sign him up again this summer if we can make it work to visit again. We're definitely going to make it a yearly thing.
