We have yet to have a teacher that we anything less than fantastic and the school works hard to make sure that students of all levels are challenged. Attending this school was the most traumatizing experience of my life, and I am still affected by…read moreit to this day. I graduated in 2019, and throughout my time there, both students and teachers displayed extreme racism that the administration continuously ignored or excused. Students on the worship team would call us "monkeys" and tell us to "go back to Africa." When we reported it, the principal's response was, "I don't think they meant it like that." This dismissal became a pattern,every racist act was brushed aside instead of being taken seriously. During my senior year, a teacher, Todd Manske, physically and verbally attacked my friends and me in the school parking lot. We were listening to clean music in our car when he ran up, slammed on the door, and screamed: "Do you think little kids want to hear N-word, N-word, this early in the morning?!" He actually said the full racial slur multiple times, with rage in his face as he hit the car. I was terrified he was going to hurt us. The school did absolutely nothing. This teacher is still employed there today.Another student, Austin Strandlund, repeatedly threatened my sister's life, saying he would lynch her and shoot her if she ever came to his house. Once again,the school did nothing. This same student and another mocked George Floyd's death as if it were a joke. When students of color stood up and told them it was wrong, another student, Mark Ustimchuk, told us to "LEAVE AMERICA." The school ignored it until we exposed the incident on social media and it went viral. Even then, the students only received a light slap on the wrist. Austin also brought a Confederate flag to prom in 2019. When we reported it, the secondary principal excused it by saying, "Well, his parents said it was okay." Yet, in the same breath, the school forced me and another Black student to remove our "Black Excellence" shirts. Austin would also "joke" daily about shooting up the school and said that my sister and I would be the first targets. Despite reporting this, nothing was ever done to protect us.This school is not a Christian school,it is a breeding ground for racism, hate, and trauma. The administration enabled both students and teachers to degrade and threaten students of color without consequence. To this day, I am deeply scarred by how I was treated there, and I am speaking out so no other family has to go through what mine did. Do not bring your kids to this school.

As a staff member, I feel it's important to share an honest perspective on the current state of…read moreDavinci Academy. Unfortunately, my experience has been overwhelmingly negative due to poor leadership, lack of professionalism, and an unsafe school environment. Leadership & Administration: Principal Emily Eggers is extremely unprofessional and frequently yells at staff. She has publicly called staff "backstabbers" for communicating concerns to district-level administrators and often labels teachers as unprofessional without ever observing their classrooms. It's also concerning that she has minimal in-person classroom experience, having only taught in an online setting before becoming principal. The new Dean of Students contributes to the toxic atmosphere. He seems to enjoy the authority that comes with his position but speaks negatively about teachers behind their backs, which damages morale and trust among staff. The administrative team as a whole is often absent from the building -- they're typically on site only about 50% of the time -- leaving little accountability or visible leadership. Teaching & Instruction: Instructional leadership is outdated and resistant to change. The ELA lead teacher refuses to adapt teaching methods or differentiate instruction for students with varying needs. The math department has turned over completely for the second year in a row. Last year's teachers were all fired, and the new hires this year are struggling just as much. It's extremely concerning that the school can't seem to retain qualified math teachers year after year. Several teachers are not fully licensed in their assigned subject areas. The RTI teacher, PE teacher, and tech teacher lack proper certifications, and only one of the special education teachers is fully licensed. This creates a serious problem in ensuring quality instruction and legal compliance. School Environment & Student Behavior: Student behavior is a major issue. There is frequent fighting, constant swearing, and open use of racial slurs like the N-word. These incidents are rarely handled appropriately or effectively. The administration tends to ignore or downplay discipline problems, which makes the environment unsafe for both staff and students. Overall Culture: The culture of the school is toxic, unprofessional, and unstable. Staff turnover is high, morale is extremely low, and there is very little support for teachers. Leadership fails to model professionalism or create a safe and supportive atmosphere for learning. At this point, I would not recommend Davinci Academy especially the middle school to potential staff, students, or families. Until there is a complete overhaul of leadership and a serious focus on student behavior and staff support, this school will continue to struggle.

Starting a new school in January as a first grader when you have never lived in frozen weather took a lot of courage from my daughters but a majority of the praise goes to the staff at Fernbrook who were absolutely amazing. Mrs Larson was a gift for a new family as a teacher who went out of her way to welcome our daughter and make sure she survived a major shift in culture :) Totally impressed with the administration, bussing from our local neighborhood the involvement from parents and extra curricular activities this school is one of Maple Groves best.

The director frequently shifts blame instead of taking accountability, creating a culture that feels manipulative and unproductive. Staff turnover appears to be very high, which raises serious concerns about internal leadership and overall stability within the school. When it comes to student progress, there seems to be little willingness to evaluate whether the school's teaching methods or support systems are effective. Instead, concerns about a child not advancing academically are quickly attributed to the child's learning disabilities, rather than examining whether the school is providing the proper resources and accommodations needed for success. What is most concerning is the apparent inconsistency in how bullying situations are handled. In situations where certain families appear to have influence within the school community, concerns can be minimized or ignored altogether. In our case, serious concerns involving bullying were dismissed with the message that "nothing really happened," leaving us feeling unheard and unsupported. A school should be a place where students feel safe, supported, and given every opportunity to succeed. Unfortunately, our experience did not reflect those values.
