I attended this school for 13 years, from my first day in Prima to graduation. It is the only…read moreschool I ever knew, and because of that, I feel I can offer a perspective that balances both the praise and criticism found in many reviews. This has always been a demanding school. Its purpose is to prepare students for college, and that preparation begins long before high school. For some students and families, that level of rigor can feel overwhelming. However, I have also seen tremendous growth occur when both students and parents commit themselves to the challenge. There often comes a point where students either learn to thrive within those expectations or struggle to keep pace. The potential for growth is there, but it requires effort from everyone involved. That said, rigor alone does not make a school perfect. My least favorite period was Logic (middle school). During those years, I often felt less like an individual and more like a number. The environment sometimes felt focused on monitoring, correcting, and containing students rather than understanding them. Discipline was extremely strict--even something as small as chewing gum in class was prohibited--yet Logic was still the least well-behaved division in my experience. While the curriculum was strong and prepared students well for high school, it was also the least enjoyable stage of my education. Rhetoric (high school) felt like a more refined, though sometimes stranger, version of Logic. Freshmen and sophomores were often treated similarly to middle school students, while juniors and seniors were given considerably more freedom. In my graduating class, nearly everyone already knew each other, which made it difficult to form new friendships. I also noticed a sharp difference in how students were treated as they got older. Students who were trusted more often behaved better, while those who felt heavily policed tended to push back. That dynamic sometimes created tension between grade levels. As for special education services, my experience varied depending on the year. During my time at the school, education as a whole was experiencing significant staffing challenges, and several teachers either left or were removed from their positions. My experiences in Grammar and Rhetoric were very positive, while Logic was more turbulent. The staff members I worked with were caring people with good intentions. While I cannot speak for every student's experience, my needs in high school were met and often exceeded. Overall, this is a strong school. If your primary goal is a rigorous education that prepares students well for college, it delivers. However, the social environment can sometimes create unnecessary stress for students who are already facing significant academic demands. It is neither a perfect school nor a deeply flawed one. More than anything, it is a lifestyle choice--a decision about how you want your children to be educated and influenced during the years when you are not around.

So everyone who comments for this school on Yelp is either a kid who's probably flunking their…read moretests or a mom getting angry, so let me clear this up for the parents who are worried: this school is actually really good, speaking from experience. The teachers are super nice in Middle School, can't say the same for Elementary though, and the high school teachers are pretty strict but still kind-hearted. The education is pretty top-tier, and kids who go to this school probably have higher chances of getting into Ivy League schools. Sure, the food isn't that good, but it's decent and edible, and the same thing you'll find at any public school. They give us a lot of homework, which, I'll be honest, made me crash out at the start, but I've gotten used to it, and it's actually made me more open-minded and active. And the uniforms are a bit expensive but the material is super nice, lasts long, and looks super classy. The school has a vast community of scholars from various communities and ethnicities, and everyone is so accepting and funny! Sure, there are some bad kids, but name one school where there isn't. The teachers really care about their students, and the school nurse is super professional and friendly. Overall, I'd say it's a pretty decent school. Better than public school, that's for sure! (I took time out of my day to write this, and I think the way I wrote it should give you a little first impression on how writing class changed me)

I graduated from this "school"…read more Teachers - either really bad or really good. Ive had a substitute who made me get up and show him where Moscow is on the map. All because I wasn't taking notes. I was born in Russia. I asked him where Baikal was. He is still looking. I did have very good science, bio and chem teachers. Horrible PE "teachers" failed athletes - Ms. Johnson and Mr. Nelson. The building is ok. A bit confusing at first. Lockers are tiny. Cafeteria is a zoo. Dont forget to check out the pool on the fourth floor.

I hate this school. Are you looking for a school that will get your transcripts out slow, do only…read morethe bare minimum and keep teachers that don't know how to teach? This school is for you. I never felt safe there because of an occurrence with another student and the council it's don't really care how they feel. They only care about their paycheck. Not only that there are power outages at least three times a year. It's saying something when teachers have flash lights in their desks. Not only is it the logistics that are slow and bare minimum. Many of the teachers are terrible. In fact one teacher actually said to me "I get paid either way if you learns something". That's classy. Although I'm disappointed in my education at this school there were some really great times here. Mr. Maas was one of my favorite teachers and really got down to his students level to teach them things. My absolute favorite thing though. Is getting out of there. Has great potential to be a good school if (some, not all)teachers and staff really brought forth effort to understand students needs and wants.

Suspend those 15 percent bad and the other 15 percent punish them don't punish the rest of kids. then fire those bad teachers but you guys won't . You pay the good teachers very little so the government has it and they do nothing with it. The 70 percent good kids the 80 percent teachers and 15 percent good staff need to work in a place where they actually get respected and not in this failure place. I'm talking about green wood elementary . Don't go to greenwood go to a nice private school or move and go to a good public school where everyone is good and the bad kids and staff are fired. I'm only talking about green wood don't go to green wood

I like aspects except a few. I went to this school and graduated 3 years ago and something that…read morealways seemed to bother me was the extreme bullying, especially in kickball. It may normally be a bit rude but in kickball everyone is literally screaming at the top of their lungs and constantly arguing(for example if there is someone who they consider bad at kickball they will try to force them onto the other team.) But the thing that mainly bothers me in not just kickball but in all of the school is the structure. For example in kickball, the rule is that you are first to get in kicking line after your team switches to kicking instead of letting the person who was next in line after 3 outs in kicking kick next. Another example is in basketball. The basketball court on the school playground is designed with definitely some intent of making it interfere the kickball game. The court is right in front of the kickball turf and any far kicks or throws between 2nd and 3rd base would interrupt the basketball game by crossing the court. I also do not like the structure that teachers go through. I like that you do not have to move around with different teachers, but staying with that 1 teacher all the time kind of makes you super dependent on that teacher. Another thing I hate with the sports structure is the fact that no one plays as a team. The ball is almost always passed to only the same people who are considered good, those of which who completely forget about teamwork and try to show off instead of including others and completely screw up their team, such as chucking the kickball as hard as possible to try and show off by getting someone out instead of being safe, but those people often miss the ball versus others and screw up their entire team. A third thing I hate is the structure of the teachers. The teachers are nice and all but one major thing I see them fail to do is take action against bullies. Like the kickball bullies are people I understand because there would just be more and more conflict no matter how many you break up at the time. But there are other disagreements which people become overconfident of their side in and virtually take in nothing from the other person side and start fighting like hell. If a student tells a teacher of bullying or even fights between entire teams in certain sports then they are not going to take action and the nice and quiet people who want to say one thing or are considered bad at the sport will be completely bullied and excluded by all the kids. 1: I am credible in this insight such that I went to elementary school there and that I have been through all the years and have graduated elementary school there. Keep in mind that these people almost always end up becoming more inclusive, friendly, nice and mature in middle or maybe even high school/ 2: Please do not think of these people as forever being bad people. This is because many of the people I knew who were like this in elementary school ended up growing much nicer, friendlier, more inclusive and mature in life. Even some big elementary school bullies ended up becoming my friends in middle school.
