Went to Fair Muffler when my muffler fell off and they provided an explanation and reasonable pricing. They also quoted two options incase I wanted the one that was for my car or an aftermarket option. This was lovely since there was a large price difference in parts. Labor was the same. I then returned with my Dad's car. He had been quoted at another place and the issue was identified as something totally different and costly. They provided and showed me the issue and reasonable quote. The labor cost per hour was consistent with my car so I felt reassured they were constant with labor costs. Finally, I returned when my car decided to have coolant issues. Also, i damaged the brand new muffler when i had a panic attack over the coolant light coming on. They went above and beyond trying to salvage/repair it so I wouldn't have to buy another one and they were successful. They did an amazing job with identifying the issues around the coolant and inspected more than a single part to ensure they fixed the entire problem and not just the problem that triggered the warning on my dashboard. They provided a reasonable estimate that was itemized and tried to save me money on the parts where they could. They also completed the entire repair in a reasonable timeframe that I didn't have to plan being without car for an extended period of time. Highly recommend. Rob was amazing to work with. I've gone here twice now. Both for emergency type situations and they were able to get me in quickly. Pricing is reasonable and they are honest about what is needed for safety without being pushy. Rob is super nice and knowledgeable. They replaced my exhaust system which was fast and no issues. I also had my brakes done after being metal on metal for a while (I know eek) and they brought me back to safety! They replaced the muffler on my 2012 Nissan Xterra. I was pleased with the work as it involved some welding due to rusted parts. No appointment, I dropped the truck off in the morning and it was ready a few hours later. I didn't compare prices, but it seemed very reasonable and less than what I was expecting to pay. I called and asked if they can do pipe bending for exhaust work. They said yes. I drive all the way over to find out they refuse to work on my car because I brought my own mufflers. Their only reason was because that's their policy. Then I asked why and they said because there might be fitment issues. If they do not want to do any custom exhaust work then why do they have an exhaust bender??? I guess they don't like money cause I went somewhere else that was more than happy to do the work. read more

My first experience at Fair Muffler could not possibly have been better. I had an engine code pointing to the upper O2 sensor, which they said would cost around $260 + tax to replace. But then they informed me that the screw threads in the catalytic converter, into which the sensor attaches, were very rusty. If they couldn't unscrew the old sensor cleanly it might break the catty. Replacing the upper sensor and the catty would cost about $1,100. BUT the threads for the lower O2 sensor were also rusty and might break, in which case all three would have to be replaced for nearly $1,500. At most shops this would be the BS story to justify driving the price up to $1,500, but I had read the overwhelmingly positive reviews and had been referred by a mechanic I trust, so I gave the go-ahead and sweated it out. After a remarkably short time the gentleman came out and said, "We got the bad sensor out just fine. It's replaced and the car is running perfectly. That's $300 with tax." Use this shop. Just do it. This place was great. When I arrived I was greeted by a friendly gentleman who explained that they'd take a look at my car then let me know what they find. In less than 10 mins, they not only explained what was wrong with my car but showed me. That offered a great piece of mind. I hate blindly forking over cash to have my car fixed when I have no clue if the mechanic is telling me the truth or not. Seeing the issue made me feel at ease about paying for the fix (which was totally affordable anyway). I was in and out in about an hour. There is complimentary soda and water in the waiting area. Brought in vehicle for service which I had suggested to be a transmission problem. After they replaced plugs, wires, coils, vacuum hose and throttle body, I was charged $2500 and still wasn't fixed. No discount or apology given, just wanted me to bring it back so they could look at the electrical. Took it to the dealer instead. Turns out to be a transmission problem after all. bowmim in for another $6k to replace trans, adding on to this mechanics charge to play whack-a-mole with my car. I thought this place was great. I brought a twelve year old car here that badly needed an exhaust system. They did the work for hundreds of dollars less than Midas estimated - and were able to preserve a couple pieces that Midas told me were impossible to save and needed to be replaced to the tune of about $300. A friend of mine recommended Fair Muffler after told him that I suspected I might be getting screwed on the price by a neighborhood mechanic. Of course, years of getting screwed by dishonest mechanics I thought the same of this recommendation. I get there and MJ says that it would cost $65. Compare that to my first estimate of $1900!!! MJ was very thoughtful and thorough. He explained that he could fix it but I would need to replace in 2 years. He didn't have to tell me anything or explain in layman's terms what was wrong but he did it and has been doing it ever since. I take my truck and my girlfriend's car whenever they need repairs and I recommend Fair Muffler to EVERYONE I run into. One more story: Fair Muffler keeps a computer record of the recommended fixes on your vehicle. I took my truck to get the recommended fixes. Fair Muffler quoted me a price months ago. I return and they tell me that since their supplier lowered the price of the part, they were also lowering mine! I saved almost $80. Since my original review for work on my 2004 Toyota Sienna, I've been back twice for noise related rattling associated with the exhaust system (not surprising for a 13 year old car). The second time was resolved due to a rusted heat shield that had come loose, and was removed for a nominal fee. Most recently (today Monday August 7, 2016), I again had a noise related rattle and thinking that some other part of the exhaust system had gotten rusty, I called around 3:30 pm and asked when would be a good time to come in to have the problem looked at. They said right now would be fine. When I got there, they were able to look at it right away even though they had other cars in work. They were able to put it up on the rack in a couple of minutes and "Junior" explained that the flex pipe from a previous repair had come loose. They re-welded it, and there was no charge! I think I was there less than 20 minutes. I was very pleasantly pleased with the result and cost. read more

I ordered tires from Goodyear online and this was the place they sent me. Appointment was for 10 AM but I called and they said,"Tires are here, just waiting for you to get here." So, I hustle over there. In 10 minutes they have it up in the jack, front tires off and come in to tell me I should really replace the struts for $650. I say no thanks. Then my car sits there on the lift for 45 minutes before they start to work on it. No explanation except, "you had a 10 am appointment. " Took 90 minutes to get 4 tires put on. They'll never get my business again. I'd give them 1 star but the tires are round. read more

I had a negative experience with this Fair Muffler. I had my oil changed this past Saturday morning 1-28-2017. When I brought the vehicle to my mechanic today 1-30-2017, He found that all of the oil leaked out through the broken oil cap that they apparently put back on when they were done. I can't believe they did not tell me that I needed a new oil cap that probably only costs $20 bucks. I am not sure what the deal is on why this happened and I know this Fair Muffler has a lot of very great reviews. My intention is not to knock the business but just to give an FYI for customers to check their oil caps when they complete the work. Or better yet, the service technician should allow the customer to see that the cap has been replaced and is not broken. Loss of oil can terminally damage an engine. NOTE: I did receive a call from the customer service representative Rob and he related to me that if the mechanic did find the oil cap was in need of replacement he would have recommended it. I do appreciate the call from them as it shows they do care about their customers. read more

Really honest, decent mechanic. Started coming here bc of a muffler issue, but they do just about everything. It's rare to leave a car place in a good mood but I feel like they always deal, well, fair! I have a goofy tire issue going on and they were upfront that they don't know how to address the issue.
