Actually the review is listed as being for the office (which will go nameless here), but the review was based solely on Dr Battula. "I walk quite a bit, for exercise and for enjoyment, but I'd always "self-treated" and "self-diagnosed" for any foot issues until my first visit to a podiatrist a few years ago, when I went to Dr Battula to see what could be done about some fairly dramatic calluses I'd developed. She was able to help me with getting some quick results to lessen the problem, but also with longer term strategies to further reduce the calluses and to discourage their reappearance. And although the calluses had been my "presenting problem," Dr Battula was also able to diagnose a "hammer toe" issue I'd had for years on both feet, which I'd assumed was something I just had to live with. She recommended some simple and inexpensive toe splints which made a world of difference. That's already more personal medical information than I'd intended to give, but I've since had minor "sports injury" issues for which Dr Battula has quickly been able to recommend simple and practical exercises or treatments. Dr Battula is easy to interact with, and I highly recommend her for her competence and professionalism. I now see that if I'd started seeing her (or an equally skilled podiatrist) years earlier, I'd have saved myself considerable discomfort." The second visit had no substantial examination. It lasted only a few minutes and I was told to keep icing by foot and sold another insole. I later deduced on my problem was a result of new shoes impinging movement of big toe. The problem quickly resolved after I bought new shoes with no input from the doctor. The website and doctor said they would except HealthNet, but were out of network. They were completely uncompromising and would not apply the $230 they received from insurance towards the $250 self-pay option. (The copays meant it cost more to have a PPO with $0 in network deductible and $200 out-of-network deductible than no insurance at all!)

His office will charge you a small charge by mail after your visits from their "billing" people. You can't pay online and you can't pay when in their office. My best advice is to mail in your credit card number and then file a dispute when it shows up. That way you don't rack up their crazy interest. I did that and won the dispute same day. Money is mine. Super shady billing to make it a hassle for you and to take advantage of low resource people. Do better Dr. DuPont

Found Dr. Fang's office through my network's provider search, but was a bit hesitant due to some of the negative Yelp reviews. Dr. Fang's office however was very close to where I live. And located right outside El Cerrito Plaza, just past JoAnn's, free parking is readily available in the plaza, and I just had to walk over. As it turned out, my concern was baseless, as Dr Fang was not only extremely kind, but listened and addressed all of my concerns, made recommendations and gave treatment options that I felt comfortable with, and left me feeling much more educated about my body in general. In fact, far more than my previous dermatologist, or any of my prior primary care physicians ever did, combined, regarding the same issues. So ecstatic that I was able to find such a great dermatologist nearby. And one whom I plan to continue seeing for as long as I live here!

And an outstanding doctor!…read more I made an instant connection with her the first time I met her: she is an excellent listener, asks very good questions, is well-connected, and a superior team-builder. When I came to her I had just finished up with several bouts of pancreatitis - very painful. Three doctors before her had left medical practice during a period of intense change for physicians. I asked her to promise me she would not leave; a rediculous thing to ask but just to say how scared and desperate I felt. I am now older and need more specialists, but she has been with me to help build that team. She is incredibly smart and has diagnosed a number of my situations just by listening to my descriptions (and then getting confirmation). She is kind... so kind. And she tells the truth. I am not afraid of dying, but I really don't like loss of control. Which means having a doctor who is honest with me and treats me like a partner in addressing my medical concerns. I hope Nina will remain my doctor for the rest of my lifetime...
