I came to Dr. Poggio's office because of a sprained left foot which had been bothering me for some…read moremonths. The first visit, which lasted perhaps 45 minutes consisted of an x-ray and the doctor taping my foot. A day later I had to remove the tape because it was causing my foot to hurt more than it had before. The second visit was to relay what had happened with the taping, and the doctor suggesting some padding in different spots on my shoe insert to help. Once again this proved to not help. After that second visit, I did not return, and I have since approached the problem in my own other ways. What I found extremely disappointing was the bill for those two fairly short visits, with no obvious improvement. This office billed Medicare $955.89 in total, of which $396.72 was billed just for walking in the door for the first visit. I am revolted at this taking advantage of Medicare and our Medicare system. It's frankly a shame.

Dr. Poggio is listed as in-network on Aetna's website, which I pointed out, but she said they could add/drop at any time and said she was unable to be sure they would take my insurance. Would I still like to schedule? Difficult to schedule an appointment with a medical provider under those conditions.

I don't know if it's legitimate for me to do this, but I'm going to cut and paste a review I left…read morefor Dr Battula in 2019 back when she was working with another group. Actually the review is listed as being for the office (which will go nameless here), but the review was based solely on Dr Battula. "I walk quite a bit, for exercise and for enjoyment, but I'd always "self-treated" and "self-diagnosed" for any foot issues until my first visit to a podiatrist a few years ago, when I went to Dr Battula to see what could be done about some fairly dramatic calluses I'd developed. She was able to help me with getting some quick results to lessen the problem, but also with longer term strategies to further reduce the calluses and to discourage their reappearance. And although the calluses had been my "presenting problem," Dr Battula was also able to diagnose a "hammer toe" issue I'd had for years on both feet, which I'd assumed was something I just had to live with. She recommended some simple and inexpensive toe splints which made a world of difference. That's already more personal medical information than I'd intended to give, but I've since had minor "sports injury" issues for which Dr Battula has quickly been able to recommend simple and practical exercises or treatments. Dr Battula is easy to interact with, and I highly recommend her for her competence and professionalism. I now see that if I'd started seeing her (or an equally skilled podiatrist) years earlier, I'd have saved myself considerable discomfort." I was very pleased when I learned that Dr Battula would now be practicing at Bay Area Foot and Ankle, and I've continue to benefit significantly from her treatment and advice.

I'd like to start by saying I strongly dislike posting negative reviews. I let the first five or so…read morenegative experiences/interactions here slide - because, hey, we're all human. But after my interaction today - enough is enough. Poor experience. I was seen for a broken bone in my foot. I am aware that my insurance covers almost nothing - so from the beginning gently inquired about fees (for example the walking boot, which I was ASSURED would be covered by insurance - and then, as I expected, wasn't- that cost $350). This wasn't invited by the lady at the front desk, who only continuously urged me to 'not worry' about it. The exams lasted about 30 seconds, and weren't comprehensive. When you call the phone number (ON THE BUSINESS CARD) any time besides business hours, somebody answers like it's a residential phone, then BARKS another number for you to call and "LEAVE A MESSAGE!" The doctor pushed a 'natural' anti-inflammatory cream at me which I purchased for $30 against my better judgement - without explanation. I requested an additional radiograph of my foot (out of curiosity - for my own purposes to view deformed bones). The image I was given is so dark that almost nothing is visible- I inquired, hoping to receive at least a partial refund of the $58 patient portion it cost to which the front office woman, Carmen said to me "Some x-rays are darker than others, that's just the way it is, THANK YOU, goodbye." (...to my face, mind you). ...I'm a health care provider, expected to expose and interpret (oral) radiographs daily. It's overexposed, or their developing chemistry is off. Nondiagnostic - but more than that disappointing because I was really excited to see it/use it to make something cool. There are more negatives, but this post is already too long. The POSITIVE: The woman in charge of accounts (who tucked back on the left) was VERY professional, patient, and knowledgeable regarding my bill (the patient portion I was urged 'not to worry' about)- which was NOT easy to understand without her direct guidance (apparently due to the software they use, she said). She was the most professional individual I encountered there. Hands down.

My new HMO sent me a card and assigned me to a doctor who had not been with them for many years: I…read morediscovered this when I needed a referral for an urgent medical problem just before a 4 day weekend! Hours of calls to my insurer yielded no results. I searched for another doctor in my plan and called Dr. Berman. His assistant Laura walked me through the precise steps (what to say and to whom) with my insurer to be certain that my urgent care visit would be covered. She then helped me enroll with Dr. Berman as my PCP so he could make the referral. All went well on that occasion and ever since. Dr. Berman listens well and takes the time to get to know his patients. His advice has been invaluable. He is wise as well as smart, is very responsive, and follows up with patients to be sure they are doing well. He even directed me to what has become my favorite hiking trail! If you want a doctor who cares about keeping you healthy instead of just treating symptoms look no farther. Dr. Berman is the best!

I've been seeing Doctor Lizano for about a year now and I think she's fantastic. Bear in mind that…read moreI am young. I'm talkin below 25 young. Not married, no kids, not pregnant, but I have PCOS. She's handled all of my medical issues well and always asks about what I would like to do when presenting all options for treatment. A few things to note for anyone considering Lilia (Dr. Lizano) as their OB: -She ONLY ACCEPTS CREDIT/DEBIT CARD WHEN IT COMES TO COPAY. -She has a dry sense of humor and doesn't smile/laugh much. This may make you feel awkward. I, too, have a pretty dry sense of humor, though so we get along well. -She is not a "scent sensitive" office. You can wear perfume, lotions, etc. If you are looking for a scent sensitive office (as I know some are) there is one in Lafayette, CA. -She cares about your wellbeing but doesn't always convey that well. You can't expect her to fawn over you and all that. She's not super emotional but she is very committed to getting a diagnosis/figuring out how to help your baby box. She will accept your input when it comes to treatment. She asks you questions about your health, she notices changes in your body(such as rapid weight gain/loss), she points out any changes she notices. If you're having an issue that she cant observe, mention it to her at the start of the appointment or when she asks if there's anything you want to let her know of. Otherwise, mention it to the receptionist when scheduling the appointment (as it will be put into the appointment notes). Be very descriptive. If you're not detailed enough, she may not be able to help you. -This office accepts most insurance types (I've changed insurances twice since being with Dr. Lizano and haven't had any issues) but do call and ask to make sure your insurance will be accepted. An OB counts as a specialist and the copay will be as such. Make sure you have enough for your copay in your bank account as cash is not accepted.
