I can't stop coming back to Parsons Farms! Every time I visit, the bakery section lures me in;…read moreeverything looks so good that it's hard not to walk out with a bag full of treats. On this visit, I tried the Blueberry Banana Smoothie and the Turkey Sandwich at their cafe. The smoothie was incredible, vibrant purple, perfectly thick. The turkey sandwich was equally impressive; the bread was toasted to a perfect golden brown, and the balance of the melted cheese and sauce made for a great brunch. Beyond the cafe, it's the perfect spot to grab some fresh fruits and baked goods for home. Definitely a local gem!

We stopped in for peaches over the summer but left with nothing. There were lots of options, but…read moremany of the things we could find at a grocery store with better prices and potentially better quality. The peaches were hard which was a disapointment. We were hoping to find peaches that were more ripe because they were local. We found about two peaches that were a little softer but they had no smell. I was suprised that there were so few local items. If I wanted goods made in PA, I'd go to PA. I asked which produce items were local and it sounded like almost none of them. You can get baked goods, produce, bottled and jarred items like pickes, candy, meats, and "homemade" deli items. There were plants for purchase, some outdoor furniture, and a cafe. The best part of the place ended up being the animals. We fed some goats and took a phot with the large bull statue. I think this would be a great place to bring kids to see the animals. I don't think it's worth the drive if you're staying on the coast because it's mostly grocery store quality produce and items you can get for less elsewhere. But, if you need something to do with kids and you're close by, it's worth a stop.

$20 per person to feed capybaras and kangaroos? Yes, please! We were passing through on our way to…read morethe beach and found this place online. We were going to book some of the private experiences but they were sold out so we just did the regular farm tour. So glad we did, because as it turned out everyone else who booked at that time except one other couple were late, so we pretty much got the place to ourselves! Our favorite part was feeding the kangaroos, capybaras, and the tortoise. And we got to pet/hold hands with the baby river otters through the fence! They also have horses that we loved scratching, and also porcupines, sloth, prairie dog, donkeys, camels, alpacas, zebras, emus, and an ostrich. The highland cow was off somewhere else apparently about to give birth. Purchase your tix online in advance before you go. Once to the driveway, you have to open the gate, drive through, then close the gate so the animals don't escape! Park just down the driveway near the port-a potty. The owners were really nice and helped teach us about the animals. It was a very hot day and not much shade, but the perfect detour on a long car ride.

This place was a lot of fun!…read more When you get to the entrance there is a closed gate stating you must have a reservation and a QR code to tickets. You then have to open the metal gate, pull through, and close it behind you. There are loose animals in the parking area so it is pretty important to close it behind you! There wasn't any signage for parking, but when you drive down to the dumpster and port-a-potty, that is where you should park. We got to see the horses, rams, camels and donkeys that were loose in the parking area before going to the sloth enclosure. We also went into the kangaroo enclosure, which also had two capybaras and some porcupines in separate enclosures that you could pet. After that there's a hay rack, that is hooked up to a truck, that will drive you out to the big pasture. We got to feed the big buffalo, camels, zebra, and cows. We loved how hands on this place was, it could use some updating and better signage for parking, but we will definitely go back to this place!

We originally saw Jack and Pickles as we were walking on the dock around Smith Island - and it was closed. The next day we saw it was open and we peeked our head in and saw the cutest little place w an awesome view. They are open during the day and then they are open again from 6-9 and are byob. We came that night w a drink and sat on the deck and enjoyed sitting on the water. We left for dinner and came back after we ate. We sat on the deck until close enjoying a gorgeous sunset. The owners, Elley and Terry are just awesome people. They love the island life and want the best for the community. We really enjoyed talking to them. We didn't have kids with us, but it would be perfect to bring the kids along bc they have a ton of games and activities to keep busy. We can't wait to come back to Smith Island and when we are here we will def spend each night at Jack and Pickles.
