The first time I came here March 7th. This price includes the tip.
    Akeem M.

I visited this same barbershop on March 7th and was cut by an amazing barber I'm pretty sure he's the owner. Well today I returned and unfortunately the barber who cut my hair on the 7th was occupied and he told me I would be next up to receive my haircut from one of the other barbers. I was fine with that they all did good work from the clients I saw in their chair. I was then called by one of the barbers. I don't remember his name but he was the first chair closest to the entry way. In the beginning of our meet before we started I asked him did he take cards? He replied no. He asked did I have Cashapp. I said no but I do have Zelle and Venmo. He said ok but then asked my previous barber for a card reader machine which he took from a bag. I requested the same haircut (a fade to match my braids) from this new barber the same style I received on the 7th. On the 7th it came out to $39 this included the tip I left. However today this barber tells me it's $75 which I learned after the haircut. I was taken aback. The cut was nice. A simple clean fade. No graphics or writing. I didn't get my hair washed or dried. When I asked him the price again thinking it was me who heard wrong he then replies: "whatever you want to give me". This felt awkward. So I gave him the $75 plus $10 tip via Zelle, not the card machine he requested earlier. He had to use the Zelle account of another barber next to him in order to process my payment because he himself didn't have a Zelle account. This whole transaction felt strange. When I had told him it was sent and turned my phone screen to him so that he could confirm it processed on my end; he then asks the gentleman/barber who's Zelle account was used to receive my payment had it processed? (This is bad business practice as if I'm a liar). He must've thought I was going to walkway (which I wasn't I always pay before I leave any business I was raised with morals and integrity) because he tells me to wait as if I was going to "run out the shop". The other barber says no he hasn't received the payment yet.... So now I'm standing there waiting for the payment to reflect on their end. I felt as if I was the one that was being untruthful and dishonest. I waited about another 3-5 more minutes standing in front of them like I was a thieving vagabond to prove I had paid such an inflated price for a haircut! Looking back at this exchange maybe they thought I was bluffing. But if it was a joke he should've clarified it. However he took the payment after receiving a text message notification that it processed. This will be the last time I ever return to this establishment. Of course one person does not represent all but it does create for an uncomfortable and disturbed experience. A barbershop is a place to distress from life, to learn, to share experiences, to leave looking and feeling your best and be amongst those who you'd think would have your best interests. Not a place to be on alert due to dishonest/shady people. I did not leave feeling good about myself. I left feeling like I got scammed and taken advantage of. My pride told me to just pay the price but never return back. I hope you enjoyed that inflated price. Their website however shows a completely different price point. I will never return back here ever again. And yes this review is going on Booksy, Yelp and Google.

Absolutely wonderful experience took me right back to Harlem, African American barbershops have a certain flavor certain swag that I've missed The father and son team that worked side-by-side as well as the other gentleman who cut courteous polite thoughtful, Junior you did a good job on the old guy's mustache and beard I highly recommend this shop.

Fadem Up is my goto place for haircuts. Lead by the owner and Master Barber himself, Will. This place reminds me of the barber shop I used to get my hair cut growing up in New York. Full of talent, conversation and inviting to all- One of the many talents is Reggie Reg, Man, let me tell you. This brother is not to be slept on. He has constantly showed me each time he cuts my son's hair. The fade is always tight and he's rocking designs. He's a very humble brother and nice guy. See for yourself, pictures don't lie

I wish I could say better, but I really cannot based on my experience. This barbershop was one of the few that opened up after the Corona restrictions eased. Unfortunately for me, my barbershop was not one of them so I opted to go here for a well needed cut. I called, made an appointment, and proceeded to the barbershop after work. The barber I made the reservation with told me to take a seat until he finished his cut. When he finished, he said he would take a 5 minute break (more like 15 minutes). After his break, he took it upon himself to ask the barber next to him to cut my head without my permission. After the barber agreed, he asked me if I was ok with it. I reluctantly agreed, and sat in the chair of the barber with the dreads. This ended up being a horrible mistake on my part. After I sat in the chair, the barber I had the appointment with sat in a chair and proceeded to talk to the other barbers in the shop. I was confused, because he handed me off like he had something to do. Later on, another customer walked in and he proceeded to cut his hair. Apparently they were good friends, but the time he showed up was around the time I scheduled my appointment. The barber with the dreads proceeded to cut my hair, and I could tell he had no clue what he was doing. I've been to many barbershops with different barbers and I have never seen a barber look so indecisive in my life. He applied the alcohol to my head, making me think he was finished, but started cutting again after..... wow. When he was finally done, I was stunned to see the finished product. I couldn't help but think I was pranked. I just wanted out of there, so I paid and left. I have no idea who cut the other guys in the pictures on this site, but it wasn't the dude with the dreads. Something has to be done about this and fast. I will not be returning, I will wait until my barber is back in business. Picture 1. My original barber giving me a fade before Corona Pictures 2-3. Fade'm Up is the truth. The owner Will is a down to earth people person surrounded by an amazingly talented group of barbers. For 3 years I've looked for a barbershop and I can finally say, this is the home I've been looking for. From a recommendation, they accepted my son as a walk in and barber T, hooked him up. I couldn't have been more satisfied. There's plenty of seats, TVs and lots of barbershop talk. A family friendly environment for all ages and genders. If you are looking for that cut, that perfect fade, Fade'm Up is where you need to be. See you there!!!

The Premium Pedicure was equally indulgent. From the warm soak and peppermint sugar scrub to the massage and paraffin wrap, every step was designed for total relaxation and care. My feet have never felt better. I also enjoyed the Premium Manicure, which was the perfect finishing touch. The exfoliation, hydration, and attention to detail were exceptional. To top it all off, I was offered complimentary beers, which added to the upscale, laid-back vibe. Hammer & Nails isn't just a grooming spot--it's an experience. ### 1-Star Disaster at Barber Effects (more like Defects) - Avoid at All Costs!…read more I walked into this barbershop today hoping for a fresh look, showing the barber a clear reference photo of a curly mullet - you know, that trendy, layered style with volume on top and length in the back. What did I get? A buzzed-to-the-bone disaster that looks like it was done with a weed whacker. My curls? Gone. My mullet dreams? Obliterated into a generic, ultra-short crop that makes me look like I lost a bet. Shocked, I flagged down the owner/barber to complain. He took one look, agreed it was "very short" (understatement of the year), and offered to comp the service as an apology. Fair enough, right? But here's where it gets messy: the original barber (JC, as I later learned) didn't even bother lining up my hairline. It's crooked as hell around my temples and neck - like a toddler drew it with crayons. Total amateur hour. I politely asked for JC's name to reference in my feedback, and the owner/barber straight-up grilled me: "Why do you need his name?" I explained I was leaving a review to warn others. His response? "Please don't do that." When I stood my ground and said I absolutely would, he flipped the script - threatened to charge me (and did) for the haircut anyway, and topped it off by calling me "spoiled" as I walked out the door. Spoiled? For expecting a basic competence from a professional service? This place is a joke. Rude staff, zero accountability, and haircuts that ruin your day (and your self-esteem). Save your money and your sanity - go literally anywhere else. JC and the owner/barber should be ashamed. Never again.

Frank is funny, kind and was super helpful bringing both his expertise and listening skills to the table. We showed up with a few samples of what we wanted and Frank worked his magic on my friend's hair and beard. I also was super annoying recording everything for TikTok (haha!) because, well, we wanted to make a funny video of the experience for our friends - and Frank was so fun to work with. He even jumped in some pictures with us at the end. Most important, my friend got so many compliments on his new look afterwards. I highly recommend Barber Effect and Frank!
