Even though they are advertised as walk in welcome they are in fact not. I called the barber prior to driving out confirming they in fact had availability to give me a haircut relatively soon (30mins). The barber assured me on the phone he did. I drove over and proceeded to sit for an hour without any communication from the barber. I walked up to him asking whether I would be receiving a cut in the next 30 minutes. He proceeded to try and gaslight me into thinking it was my fault for being a walk-in. Very disrespectful of my time and unprofessional. This was not a special occurrence. I sat with people that had appointments and they also had to sit way longer than there allotted appointment time (30+ mins) . Highlighting very poor time management skills. I ended up leaving without getting a haircut. Do not go here these barbers are dishonest and do not value your time. read more

I visited this same barbershop on March 7th and was cut by an amazing barber I'm pretty sure he's the owner. Well today I returned and unfortunately the barber who cut my hair on the 7th was occupied and he told me I would be next up to receive my haircut from one of the other barbers. I was fine with that they all did good work from the clients I saw in their chair. I was then called by one of the barbers. I don't remember his name but he was the first chair closest to the entry way. In the beginning of our meet before we started I asked him did he take cards? He replied no. He asked did I have Cashapp. I said no but I do have Zelle and Venmo. He said ok but then asked my previous barber for a card reader machine which he took from a bag. I requested the same haircut (a fade to match my braids) from this new barber the same style I received on the 7th. On the 7th it came out to $39 this included the tip I left. However today this barber tells me it's $75 which I learned after the haircut. I was taken aback. The cut was nice. A simple clean fade. No graphics or writing. I didn't get my hair washed or dried. When I asked him the price again thinking it was me who heard wrong he then replies: "whatever you want to give me". This felt awkward. So I gave him the $75 plus $10 tip via Zelle, not the card machine he requested earlier. He had to use the Zelle account of another barber next to him in order to process my payment because he himself didn't have a Zelle account. This whole transaction felt strange. When I had told him it was sent and turned my phone screen to him so that he could confirm it processed on my end; he then asks the gentleman/barber who's Zelle account was used to receive my payment had it processed? (This is bad business practice as if I'm a liar). He must've thought I was going to walkway (which I wasn't I always pay before I leave any business I was raised with morals and integrity) because he tells me to wait as if I was going to "run out the shop". The other barber says no he hasn't received the payment yet.... So now I'm standing there waiting for the payment to reflect on their end. I felt as if I was the one that was being untruthful and dishonest. I waited about another 3-5 more minutes standing in front of them like I was a thieving vagabond to prove I had paid such an inflated price for a haircut! Looking back at this exchange maybe they thought I was bluffing. But if it was a joke he should've clarified it. However he took the payment after receiving a text message notification that it processed. This will be the last time I ever return to this establishment. Of course one person does not represent all but it does create for an uncomfortable and disturbed experience. A barbershop is a place to distress from life, to learn, to share experiences, to leave looking and feeling your best and be amongst those who you'd think would have your best interests. Not a place to be on alert due to dishonest/shady people. I did not leave feeling good about myself. I left feeling like I got scammed and taken advantage of. My pride told me to just pay the price but never return back. I hope you enjoyed that inflated price. Their website however shows a completely different price point. Fadem Up is my goto place for haircuts. Lead by the owner and Master Barber himself, Will. This place reminds me of the barber shop I used to get my hair cut growing up in New York. Full of talent, conversation and inviting to all- One of the many talents is Reggie Reg, Man, let me tell you. This brother is not to be slept on. I wish I could say better, but I really cannot based on my experience. This barbershop was one of the few that opened up after the Corona restrictions eased. Unfortunately for me, my barbershop was not one of them so I opted to go here for a well needed cut. I called, made an appointment, and proceeded to the barbershop after work. The barber I made the reservation with told me to take a seat until he finished his cut. When he finished, he said he would take a 5 minute break (more like 15 minutes). After his break, he took it upon himself to ask the barber next to him to cut my head without my permission. After the barber agreed, he asked me if I was ok with it. I reluctantly agreed, and sat in the chair of the barber with the dreads. This ended up being a horrible mistake on my part. After I sat in the chair, the barber I had the appointment with sat in a chair and proceeded to talk to the other barbers in the shop. I was confused, because he handed me off like he had something to do. Later on, another customer walked in and he proceeded to cut his hair. Apparently they were good friends, but the time he showed up was around the time I scheduled my appointment. The barber with the dreads proceeded to cut my hair, and I could tell he had no clue what he was doing. I've been to many barbershops with different barbers and I have never seen a barber look so indecisive in my life. He applied the alcohol to my head, making me think he was finished, but started cutting again after..... wow. When he was finally done, I was stunned to see the finished product. I couldn't help but think I was pranked. I just wanted out of there, so I paid and left. I have no idea who cut the other guys in the pictures on this site, but it wasn't the dude with the dreads. There is a horrid set of barbers at this place with the exception of a few decent barbers at best. Please avoid a younger looking barber with dreads. (No racism or offense). This is the 3rd barber shop I've tried over the last 6 months as after recently moving here from Arizona, and I finally say I've found my spot. This is a classic hole in the wall barber shop that exudes all the vibes of a traditional black-owned barber. First and foremost - they allow walk-ins - the previous establishments I've tried were appointment only. Thats a HUGE plus in my book. The owner as well as the other barbers were all in good spirits, great conversation. My wait was about 5-10 minutes, which isn't bad for a walk-in. My 13 year old wants to grow out his hair so I told him that he needed to go to a barber so he would look polished. Up until now he had been opting for the mommy cut, aka set the clippers at their lowest setting and take it all off. I stumbled upon this place and just went in without an appointment; the gentlemen in the shop were very welcoming and made my hesitant kid feel very comfortable. I made the mistake of cutting my 11-year old son's hair a week or two ago. He let himself grow an afro and I was fed up looking at it. The haircut I gave him I was well .... uneven, with a nearly bald patch on one side of his head. He had to wear a baseball hat outside. Ladies, this 5 star review is for the cut Ms. Cathy Nguyen, female barber gave me earlier this month. She is excellent and cuts your hair so that it is thick, even and will grow out correctly - if that is what you are looking for. My hair was growing out thin, falling out and uneven and needed some shaping and cutting. I am African American and my hair is mixed breed - straight at the roots, but the rest is kinky, curly and frizzy. Very difficult to cut so that it is thick from the hairline down to the ends and evenly shaped. Ms. Nguyen is professional and has 20 years experience cutting all hair types.
