At the time, it seemed as though there were none available in Chicago, but surely enough Ij's Cuts Barbershop was open. Via Booksy, I booked an appointment with Vito, and drove to Melrose Park all the way out from the west-side of Chicago after experiencing those two cancellations. Ij's Cuts Barbershop sits within a small strip of businesses along a trafficky North Ave. With the shop being a shared barber space, the vibe felt very lively with music blaring and commotion amongst barber to barber, and client to barber. I always pull up my desired haircut via Booksy from the barbers' portfolio to give the barber an idea of what I am looking for. Most of the time, it is the rating and pictured haircuts that build the interest for my visit. I noticed that Vito confirms what you are looking for prior to moving on to any portions of your hair. He is professional, sociable, funny, and puts genuine effort into his work. And he did a great job cutting my hair in spite of me booking within hours of my visit. I would gladly book Vito from Ij's Cuts Barbershop again in the future because of all the aforementioned. I most definitely recommend it, if you are looking for the same. Vibe: 4 (Good) | Service Requested: 4 (Good) | Quality: 4 (Good) Recommendations: Downloading the Booksy application, so you can book appointments with. Also having a cash application installed on phone whether it be cash app, venmo, zelle, paypal, etc. ~ Give a compliment. ~ Thomas G

She wasn't busy the second time and I it got me a little upset that the service i wanted tooked 5 minutes (cut bangs). So okay I let that go. She was probably on her break, i thought. I went today and I asker her if she had time for a hair color. She said she was busy for three weeks and turn to her client, nothing more. A business owner or an employee would say you want to schedule something later, nothing like if she wasn't interested. I have gotten that vibe twice. I am pretty sure this place has barely any clientele. So whoever is reading my review if she treats you this way don't go anymore there are many places to go. Honestly she should be grateful we show up to her establishment.

I'm usually done in 10-15 minutes. However lately the place seems to have slowly been upgraded! The manager is fantastic, if you happen to get her as your stylist (forgetting her name, she sits first chair directly behind the cashier desk). In the past the stylists could be hit or miss - some good, some average. But having had multiple different stylists the past few cuts all have been great. Not just a good cut but also pleasant and friendly. In addition this location recently upgraded their check in / check out system so you can check in ahead of time and potentially cut off some wait time. The credit card processor used to be kinda funky but that is resolved now, too. All these changes made me feel like it was worthy of sharing with the Yelp-osphere.
