I had an appointment at 10:00am. The barber was a no show. I didn't get into someone's chair until 11:00am. A barber was checking in with me every 15 minutes to see if I was good (think he was the barber manager/owner). I really appreciate that! I finally received a haircut however I felt like the barber was in a rush to get another person in the chair and I didn't feel like the barber took pride in his work. The haircut was $35 dollars and I paid $40. I had another $20 that I was willing to tip however due to the barber not taking his time and actually understanding my request. He did not receive the extra tip. I do plan on return to give it another try. I understand that things happen and the barber manager/owner was being helpful. My friend came here after having a very hard time finding a good barbershop to not only cut his hair, but truly take the time to listen to what he wanted. It was like every weekend he would try somewhere new and they'd always fuck it up more than the last, which was very disappointing to say the least - having waves, he puts a lot of work & time into his hair. This was my last haircut in Jacksonville and I wish I had known about Fade Factor. I tried this place because My wife saw someone in the gym with the nicest looking haircut she seen in a long time. She asked him where he got it and he said factor Fade Factor. I was hesitant because the last two years I've received on and off haircuts from random semi permanent barbers all around Jacksonville. I went in this time requesting a hard part for the first time. When I walked in the first thing I noticed was everybody in the place had a CLEAN haircut! Also, everybody who walked out had a Clean haircut! I Was called up and my barber introduced himself as STRAIGHT WITH A BLADE! He was a big black guy who talked to me the entire way back to his chair about how I wanted to have my hair cut. He immediately worked on my hard part and showed me where the natural line was. I was completely confident in his abilities. He was an artist! He was completely focused On each part of my head. At this point I left everything in his hands. Roughly 20 minutes later I had the cleanest haircut I've ever had! My wife took a video and I couldn't stop checking myself out in the review mirror on the ride home. I tipped the my Barber $15 plus $25 for a haircut. My wife says this is the nicest haircut I've ever had in my life! It's a shame that it took this long to find a haircut that stood above the rest. I've been there a handful of times and it wasn't as busy as the reviews say. maybe you all should stop doing walk ins on saturdays and sundays and expect not to wait. I usually go on a Thursday or a Monday and get attended right away. In reality haircuts are usually $15 and up it's just that people get used to these shitty 5-10 dollar haircuts around marine corps bases where they worry about quantity and not quality. I walk into Fade Factor and right off the bat it's a uniquely structured barbershop, you can't see any of the barbers while in the waiting room & this can make choosing a barber kind of difficult if you know nobody there. The employee at the front desk asked if I was a walk in and I told him yeah, he then asked if I knew who I wanted to cut my hair, I told him no but someone who can cut waves, he said I got somebody for you BUT it will be a 45 minute wait. Now RECOMMENDATION to anyone coming to Fade Factor who has an issue with waiting .. MAKE AN APPOINTMENT. With that being said, I waited for just about an hour, which on a Saturday I kind of expected a wait...I must say the wait was well worth it. A guy named Trinidad cut my hair, he asked me what I wanted, and went to work. He took his time to make sure the fade came out good and even asked for my input before doing something to my hair that he wasn't sure if I'd like or not. This place is a joke. I walked in and pulled out money at the atm which it says there is a fee but charges you an additional dollar so total is 4.50 to withdraw money. If you do decide to go here bring your money with you. I walk in a sit down for 20 mins with my daughter and they are taking pictures I guess for their company. It's unfortunate I have to hit these guys, but the reality of business is that your customer service needs to match your product. A guy named Mario owns Fade Factor, also cutting hair for his own clients. Jacksonville is full of bad barbers due to the Marine base and cheap haircuts. The average cost of a cut is $8-11. Fade factor starts at $15 for walk ins and $20 is standard for appointments. There are a few barbers at Fade Factor that have attention to detail and do a good job of cutting hair. Mario is one of them. The problem is that they have no formal training in efficiency or scheduling, and have a nonchalant attitude towards their customer's time. Some customers use this opportunity to chat with people and socialize, while others like myself have to strictly budget time to be able to get a haircut. For months, every week was a new problem. I would walk in at a specific time and always have to wait. I explained to him that I work full time, have a family, and am in school. I also pay $30 for a fade, which is more than I've seen anyone pay. Still, my appointments were regarded as flexible. Today that stopped and I will not go back. I drove 30 minutes each way from my home with my 5-year old son to make my 10am appointment. At 0959 He had a guy in his chair with at least 20 minutes left until he was done. He asked me to come back at noon to which I said I couldn't do it because I have a strict schedule. Horrible service. I walked in with my 6 year old son who needed a simple haircut that Would have taken 10-15 mins. There were 4 or 5 barbers there, 2 of which actually had customers but not one person would help one. One guy wouldn't even take his face out of his phone when asked if he could cut my sons hair. His reply was "I have someone coming." And then the guy asked if I wanted to make an apt, no thank you sir. I walked in and was taken to the back to three barbers who I didn't know were new at first until I over heard one of the barbers explaining how one of the guys ruined a customers head. This is the person who's chair I sat in mind you I did not know that he was the barber they were speaking of. Sat down everything seemed to be going fine Donnell "the barber" is taking his time and seems proficient. We spoke of how I didn't want my hairline pushed back he agreed and tried to accommodate, customer service was not at all the issue here. At the end of the session I looked in the mirror focusing on my hairline which he actually did a decent job at however when I left the establishment I noticed that my fade was on two different levels on each ear. I believe in new barbers getting experience however, allowing individuals to walk out without a proper inspection by another qualified barber is unacceptable I am here not only to give a problem but a solution. My 2 teens have been going to fade factor for their cuts. Last night my 14 year old comes back from fade factor with his freaking eyebrows done!! That is unacceptable in my house! Why doesn't fade factor have a policy for minors? Minors should have a parents consent 1st if they want their eyebrows done. The barber did my 14 Year olds eyebrows and jacked them up! I called to complain and the owner/ wanna be barber that did it starts laughing on the phone! No consideration or professionalism! I'm not happy with what went down last night.
