Yesterday evening I attended a birthday dinner at Factory 51 at Coorparoo. This visit really highlighted how far Brisbane's foodie scene has come in the last couple of years; you can now find gems such as Factory 51 in areas previously limited to a handful of fast food stores and a fish'n'chip shop on the corner. Instead of the cod and chips bundle, however, I was treated to a snapper fillet, creamy mash potato, charred kale and burnt sage butter.
As an avid fisherman, I can safely say that the snapper was so fresh that it was probably helping find Nemo earlier that morning. When you have a piece of fish of that quality, all you need is a simple supporting cast and some TLC, and Factory 51 definitely ticked those boxes!
Whilst I didn't indulge in dessert, the vegemite and creme anglaise ice cream was a hit with the birthday girl.
