Gerry is great! Gave us good advice on the best window covering options for our house and installed them himself.

I work for an interior design firm. We had hired another installer to put up custom window coverings in a new home. Due to a scheduling error by the homes general contractor the house was not ready for window coverings to be installed and our previous installer was already booked the days they could be installed. We searched everywhere for another installer and found Gerry Yates. He was very accommodating. He moved another job to the weekend to squeeze us in on a Thursday and Friday. He did install all of the items discussed including a mix of roman shades and drapery. I have been in the business for almost 15 years and have never had a drapery installer not come with a steamer to dress the drapes. Gerry did not. When pressed about it he told us to "let the home owners see it first, if they think they need steamed I can come back" The drapery had been packaged and shipped for installation. There was no doubt they were wrinkled and needed steamed. Even he agreed he should have brought a steamer but it was clear he did not want to make another trip with the steamer that he forgot. We had a check on site and were ready to pay him but the job was not complete. He went back the next day but unfortunately we were gone. A check was sent for payment in full Monday after the job was completed Saturday. For the next week we received harassing emails and phone calls demanding payment that had been sent. He had us convinced that the check had been lost or stolen in the mail so we sent another. The original check that was mailed on a Monday was cashed that Thursday. He waited less than a week in total for payment when industry standard is 30 days. In the mean time a second check was sent and he was kind enough to return it. Although it was returned with a curt note stating he should cash it also as a "tip" but claimed he thought it was an "oversight" on our part. The job was completed professionally and our client has no issues with installation. But the headache on our end was not worth it. Besides this he arrived with two assistants who did all the labor while Gerry lounged in the new, custom furniture, watching them work in each room. read more

Operates illegally out of a home in a residential neighborhood using garage as warehouse. Large commercial trucks and vans make constant traffic in a quiet area with ZERO regard for other residents. Has somehow skirted zoning restrictions and does not care how they affect anyone else. read more
