Words cannot express how grateful I am for this foundation. My dog was recently diagnosed with pyometra, a life-threatening condition that requires emergency surgery. I was desperate to save her, but the cost was simply more than we could afford even after applying and receiving a Care Credit Card. When the vet told me about this grant, I'll admit I was skeptical at first because of all the scams out there. However, I was willing to try anything. We filled out the application and, incredibly, we were approved that same day. I am so thankful I took that leap. This foundation didn't just save my best friend; it restored my faith that there are still people who truly care about helping others. When my poor Great Dane Layla was suffering after getting hit by a car Thursday morning, I was trying to come up with funds to pay an $8000 vet bill for an orthopedic surgery and had already spent $3000. I'm 20 years old and don't live off my parents, and after sending FACE all the information they requested, it still wasn't good enough and they wanted my girlfriends bank account balances. I told them she wasn't comfortable with that, as I hadn't been dating her for long, meanwhile I've had this dog for 2 years and they kept delaying the process. I told the lady "it's Sunday, and my dogs leg had been broken Thursday morning and there hasn't been any progress! She's been suffering, and I just want this procedure done already! I've only been dating this girl for about 2 months, she has no responsibility in paying for this dog and even she was rich, it wouldn't be right of her to pay HER hard earned money towards MY dog's surgery. The lady responded saying since she's my "significant other" that I need her information. What a joke!!! I'm 20 years old, this isn't my wife!!! Then the worst part, the lady said "well if she's been waiting since thursday, then it won't hurt to wait a little longer" You Un-empathetic piece of trash! I hope a doctor tells you that about a loved family member like a son or daughter of yours... That was so dark and cruel to say, and I hope you get karma for that. Face 4 pets saved my buddy's life! My 1 year d German shepherd was hit by a car in front of my house, nobody stopped to help him, he had a compound fracture to his back leg. His bones were completely out of his skin and blood was everywhere. We were facing a $5000 vet bill to fix his leg, a $3000 bill to amputate, or a $780 bill to put him down. With 4 small children none of those were good options. After the vet looked at his leg, fixing it wasn't an option anymore. It would mean multiple surgeries and a very painful healing process. Amputation or Death were what we were faced with. Thanks to the Face Foundation we were able to amputate his leg and he is still here with us happy as ever!! Such a great Foundation. I love that there are people like this out there to help animals get the care they need even if they can't afford it. I love their Bags and Baubles Event. This lovely couple allows them to have a fantastic event annually at their beautiful estate in RSF. Lovely gently used and new bags, jewels, sunglasses and pet stuff to bid on. Raffles, wine stations, sodas and waters. They always have a lovely set up of food with servers walking around with snacks also. They have bird cages and weiner dog crossings one the property and clearly have an open heart for animals and raising money to help. You pull onto the street, valet your car and wait for a shuttle to take you up to the house. This year is was a very hot but beautiful day to shop. I have to say this year I was a bit disappointed in the bag options. Everything is starting out really high too as far as pricing. The start bids are a lot and then the increments are gapped too. Be prepared to spend hundreds if you are buying anything! read more

This charity is amazing, And I'm not just saying that because I sit surrounded by this years haul from their amazing Bags & Baubles Auction. Handbags and jewels y'all, its for the puppies! Face's (Foundation for Animal Care and Education) mission is "to enhance and preserve the quality of life of animals by providing access to necessary medical care and education. Based on established criteria, FACE provides financial grants for animal owners who are unable to partially or fully cover the cost of their pet's emergency or critical care." While I haven't had the need for their services the stories of the family pets they've saved really touch me - and I've been an attendee at their fundraiser for the past couple years. There is even some Military pets that have been supported - and for a deployed Marine, not being able to care for their pet while deployed or having family issues with their animals while defending our country is just a no brainer to help with. I've interacted with this non profit business through their events, have been to the office and more. They work with hundreds of local businesses, mostly vets, and I'm all about that community connection. They plan a great party for a great cause. Yesterday my sweet, energetic 2 year old German Shepherd, Beau and I had just come back from a walk. As we were going inside he goes in his kennel which is on the left as you are walking from our garage to our apartment. Mind you the kennel door was barely open and I'm thinking a piece of the metal just clipped him. I rushed him to the Pet Emergency and Specialty Center in Chula Vista. I thought he would require a few stitches and call it a day. However, that was not the case. He has a ruptured Achilles tendon and requires a 6,000 dollar surgery. About three weeks ago, our 5 year old pug Sophie tried to jump on the couch to cuddle and didn't make it. By this time the foundation had already been reached regarding the status of my baby by my vet. The person I spoke with pretended to play down the issue. We love Face Foundation. Our little beagle/corgi mix broke his leg jumping off the couch. He had (and still has) lead pellets throughout his hindquarters from his time before joining our family. One of the pellets rested on the joint, which lead to the easy break. Our vet put us in contact with Face. Prior to breaking it, he had only walked on 3 legs most of the time. Back in November of 2017 my 4 year old frenchie Jax began experiencing significant pain from a herniated disc in his back due to IVDD. We tried for over two months to get his pain under control with activity modification and medications, however ultimately we found ourselves in and out of the VSH weekly which was becoming emotionally and financially draining. We decided to pursue an MRI with the likely hood of surgery following. The staff at the VSH San Marcos let us know about FACE and helped up with the application process. FACE was fantastic and was able to get back to us within 24 hours of starting the application process and the little guy was headed in for his MRI within days. He ended up having a severe disc herniation and there were multiple levels that showed significant damage below. Where to start...? The FACE Foundation was wonderful. Our little 7 month old kitten Freddie spent a weekend vomiting and not eating. We took him to the vet and he was diagnosed with intussucception, a very rare condition in cats where the intestine telescopes on itself. He needed emergency surgery to remove the affected intestine. I live on government student loans and my girlfriend makes enough to help with the bills. We couldn't afford his surgery, but the FACE Foundation made it possible. In July 2013 our dog Sadie needed an emergency tail amputation to save her life after it became injured. They are responsible with their funds and although some folks are not fans of their qualifying process, I find them to be competent and EXTREMELY compassionate. Unfortunately, not every pet can be saved, but that is not due to FACE's lack of effort. ALL non-profits that I have worked with can't save everyone. I have personally had two friends use FACE in life-saving surgeries at an ER in San Diego and without them, those families would have lost a VERY important member of their family. 5 stars all day!
