Junk products, they don't stand behind the garbage they sell they are lousy at customer service

I was initially put off by the low rating and fairly scathing reviews, but since the project I'm working on has no deadline and the price was right I decided to give them a shot. I'll just state the facts: I had a bit of trouble entering my card information on their website while using my computer and had to complete the transaction on my phone; not that big a deal. They said the item would ship the next day and it did. I was given tracking info but there weren't any updates until the day before the package arrived (which makes sense if it went straight from ME to where I live.) They said it would arrive by X date and time and it did. What arrived was what I ordered and in pristine condition. The product is just a bit more sheer than I thought from the pictures, but the colors and pattern exactly matched what they presented on their website. Now my opinion: I would order from them again since my personal experience with them was just fine; I ordered a thing, it came as and when expected, the end. I typically never write a review unless there's something bad to say or something I feel is wrong with the product or seller. I also believe I'm not the only one with that M.O. That said, it's not unreasonable to see ONLY a handful of really bad reviews if every other customer just had a regular-ass experience. There'd be no reason to let anybody know... but it was VERY affordable fabric, so if I can save another hobbyist a few $$ the review is worth writing. So in summary, you'll probably be just fine ordering from these guys, and if the project is low-stakes or for a personal hobby (like mine was) you have very little to lose. I ordered a swatch of a light purple lavender-y upholstery fabric. The swatch I got was a deep deep purple. I called, and the man said that their iPad tries to lighten all fabric and that if I looked at the last pic, where it's in their store, I'd see that this deep purple is the correct fabric. I looked at that pic, and it is still about 2 shades lighter than what I got. It was only a $3 lesson learned fortunately. BOTTOM LINE: ONLY ORDER A SAMPLE, AND BEWARE THAT COLOR MAY BE WAAAAAAAAY OFF, even from darkest sample. read more

I was in need of having a seat reupholstered so needed to order fabric that matched. A google search took me to Fabric Warehouse whereby a pop-up said if I gave my email address that I'd receive 20% off my first order. Great! I signed up, got the coupon code and found my upholstery fabric. While checking out I was notified the coupon code couldn't be applied to my order. Damn! Looks I was duped again by another company that lures you in by getting your email address and then denying the savings. So I checked elsewhere and ordered what looked to be a material with a better backing through another supplier - for what ended up being less money after the shipping and handling was taken into account. So when I was contacted later by Fabric Warehouse I took the time to explain why I didn't place the order and how I felt by their supposed 20% off lure. That's when this "small company" (as the owner likes to throw around as an excuse) said it was very clear that the discount was for: "The 20% coupon clearly states it's for upholstery fabric." and there was no way that a "small" company could honor the 20% off because of margins (again, I had already placed an order with a different company for less). I explained that ironically I would be taking this material and my piece to an UPHOLSTERY place to have the work done - lol - so why wouldn't this be considered upholstery??? My field is consumer psychology so for decades I've studied businesses and their practices from all around the world. IMO the bottom line is that this "family" owned company misleads customers in order to reel them in and then doesn't honor their word. And to add insult to injury, the company tries to work on one's emotions by using words like "small" and "family". Like most people I try to support small family businesses whenever possible, and in fact even when it costs me more money and/or is more hassle. However, what I won't do is give businesses my money when they deceive me and then try to make excuses or twist the situation. Ironically while writing this review, my upholstery fabric was just delivered by the other company and it looks awesome! And this "small family-owned company" was within my state (so much more local), was delivered within two days, wrapped beautifully and with care on a roll, and ended up being less expensive overall. So I'm just writing this review simply so others can beware - also so that maybe this Fabric Warehouse company might start to use honest, less-deceptive, marketing practices because it looks like other customers have had issues with them before I did. Stopped in after a visit to Bates College. Warm greeting from the new owners (2 brothers I think). I think place needs an identity---is it for upholstery or for quilters? Definitely a warehouse feel. I went looking for quilting fabrics, and found 3 yards. Good prices ($9.98 and $5.98 per yard) Stars are as compared to other quilting shops in Maine. read more

I ordered fabric online. I neglected to use my coupon code for 25% off. I emailed, called, texted and filled out their online contact form to try to get my 25% off. No response. All they would've had to do is refund my 25% through PayPal (less than $20). Minimal effort. I received my fabric, which was beautiful, but I won't order from them again. read more

These guys seem very disorganized and unprofessional. They charged me for a legitimate online order (over $300 Canadian) but never shipped my items. After waiting two weeks for my shipping notice, I finally called them and was informed they didn't want to ship my order because the shipping would "cost them too much". Im guessing they didn't set up their online shop properly to calculate & add shipping. Not really my problem. They also claimed there was an expired discount code applied. If it worked then it's not "expired". You can delete them when they're no longer valid but I guess they forgot? Another thing that's not my problem. As a customer you take my money and I expect goods in return. You don't just take my money, confirm the order then not send anything. That is called theft. Still waiting for a refund to appear on my card 2 weeks later... Would not recommend using this store. Super shady... read more

I tried to order a nontoxic fabric. I looked and looked online. I chose these guys because I liked the color however I could've bought this fabric at Joanne fabrics and I wish I would have. I received the fabric in the mail and it made my throat swell up as soon as I opened up the bag. I contacted the store and the owner quickly called me back. But he had nothing kind to say. He told me this, you pay for shipping out and you will pay for shipping back and I will give you the remaining of your purchase which equals about nine dollars. My purchase was close to $50. This is a horrible horrible customer service set up. If I were him I would've offered me back every penny in order to have me, a customer, be happy. He could've offered me an exchange. He offered me nothing positive. Instead. I felt like he was actually mocking me for the poor purchase that I made. Not taking any responsibility for his toxic fabrics. The shipping prices are high and he says he even gets discounted shipping but does he pass it on to the customer? Nope! In fact I think shopping is even more than normal. So if I were you I would skip this company. They have no regard for the customers. Who cares if they are a family owned company. They do not feel like a family. Not one bit! Next time I'll go back to Joann fabrics where they have an excellent return service. read more

Stopped in late in the day to get some welt cord and supplies for my upholstery shop. There were 4 employees there. They were more interested in getting out and closing the store than helping me out. I had never been to the store and wanted to check it out for other things I might use. Very unprofessional. I will give another try, earlier in the day to see if that makes a difference. If it doesn't, I will take my business elsewhere. read more

I have ben a customer of Maine Fabric Warehouse for a number of years. I'm a home sewer and enjoy making pillows, drapes and curtains, an occasional cushion, and other home sewing projects. Maine Fabric Warehouse has a nice and varied selection of drapery and upholstery fabrics, including Premier Prints and Sunbrella. It also carries a wide range of sometimes-hard-to-find upholstery and drapery supplies of commercial quality, including foam, welting, trim, and dacron. When I've shopped there in person, the staff at the warehouse has always been very helpful and knowledgeable. Bear in mind, it is a warehouse and a small business. You won't get any frills here, but you will get very competitive pricing. I appreciate others have had difficulty with online orders. I've ordered swatches, supplies, and fabric from Maine Fabric Warehouse online perhaps four times over the past two years and have never had any problems. If you're looking for quality upholstery and drapery fabric at a warehouse pricing, without frills, from a small business, Maine Fabric is a very good resource. read more

HORRRRIIIBBBBLLEEE company to try and work with. Do NOT buy anything from them online, you will regret it! I bought 4 wool fabrics to make coats, as I am a fashion design student: the main fabric I wanted, a beautiful seafoam wool, mysteriously disappeared and they sent a completely different fabric in its place. Let a lone my order took over 2 1/2 weeks to ship as some stuff they advertised online was out of stock. When I got the fabrics in the mail, the main one was missing, the replacement was awful, not anywhere close to a seafoam color, was heather grey?!?!. Another pink I had ordered, was not the right pink, they just sent some other pink wool. I emailed them multiple times and tried to see if I could return the fabrics, NO reply whatsoever. When I tried calling, no answer, just rang. I was not about to just mail them back and be out my money and have no product!! I ended up filing a fraud charge against the company through my credit card so I didn't have to pay for it since their customer service was absolutely horrifying, that is NOT how you run a business at all! Besides the horrible pictures of the fabrics online, even if you get samples, to even close to the picture online, THIS IS 2019, GET A NEW PHONE OR CAMERA that actually shows the color of your products, it is NOT HARD! I would highly recommend you don't even bother, the low(er) prices are not worth you wasting your time, money and frustration waiting for something that will not come, nor be what you want. Such rude customer service. During the COVID pandemic, I was making masks for a local hospital. I placed an order but received the incorrect product, so I sent an email to the Customer Service addr on their website (rather than calling) because their website stated that "one of our owners is answering phones at home while doing home school for his kids." After a week, I got no reply so sent another. At this point I gave up. I also have kids at home and in my spare time, am trying to turn out at least 70 masks. TWO WEEKS had passed when received an advertising email from a different account. It prompted me to follow up on my order. So, I replied to the email and stated that that I had received the wrong order and that this was my 3rd email. I immediately got a call from a Tim at the company and his first comment was "just so you know, if you sent 2 emails with no response, then sending 3 isn't going to help. You should have called." Ironically, DID actually get a response from the 3rd. In the end, they did make good on the order (sort of - I had ordered white elastic but rec'd black) but I would NEVER order from them again!!! read more

Recently had 3 sofa pillows changed over from feather stuffing to foam and batting stuffing. The work was miraculously completed in 2 business days (at holiday time). When I got home, I wasn't happy with how they looked (flat and not enough batting around the foam). Brought them back to add more batting (which is what I had ordered) and, although there were several other customers in the store, they fixed the problem on the spot. The co-owner was very apologetic and accommodating, willing to make it right and they did. Cushions look great and I'm happy (very important)! The customer service I received from both the owners, Carol on the phone and the woman who worked on the pillows (sorry, didn't catch her name) was outstanding. They are a fun group of people who appear to work well together and enjoy what they're doing. I will certainly return there and would highly recommend their work and customer satisfaction ethics.
