I live in the area and use this gym regularly. It has all the basic things you need for a good…read moreworkout--there are two squat racks, a Smith machine, cables, free weight dumbbells up to 100 lbs, resistance machines, and cardio equipment. There's also a room for yoga classes. There are plenty of cubbies for you to put your stuff. There's also a weight scale and a BMI measuring scale. There are bathrooms with showers on site as well. If you want to avoid the crowds, I recommend avoiding 5-7pm on weekdays as well as late mornings on the weekends. Most of the time, I don't have any issues getting on the machine or equipment that I need!

I'll start by saying the staff is very kind. However, the reason I'm leaving a negative review is…read morebecause I quickly realized this gym wasn't the right fit for me after joining. Much of the equipment is old or malfunctioning, and it's nearly impossible to get in touch with anyone--phone lines are disconnected, and emails go unanswered. After I inquired about how to cancel my membership, I was unexpectedly charged $35 just hours later, as if they were trying to get every last dime before I left. Still no response. I tried calling again--still no working phone line. I ended up going in person to cancel, where I was asked to fill out a form. Despite this, I was charged $50 for the following month, even though I had canceled within the required timeframe. Since then, I've continued to be charged. I eventually had to contact my bank to stop the payments. I was able to reach Saundra Swain once, but I've had no luck getting in touch since. At this point, it seems that refunding the money they've been stealing from me is not a priority for them. Don't bother with this gym.

Lou, the owner and trainer extraordinaire, truly cares about the people. Lou has created a culture and community of people who look at one another as FITFAM. I highly recommend this gym, you will get personal attention and care like no other gym. The owner is the FITFAM's biggest cheerleader. There is no better gym. During the COVID re-opening Lou has taken extreme measures while following all CDC guidelines. There is thorough cleaning nightly and throughout the day of all equipment and workout areas, everyone is required to wear masks and he added hand sanitizer stations all over the gym. There are also strictly outdoor workouts for those who feel more comfortable, and indoor workouts with stations 6 feet apart. They workout plans all allow for everyone tonhave their own weights and space. He truly is going above and beyond. You will feel safe being here.

From the time I moved to Chicago to getting in shape for my wedding, this place has been part of my life. After a major surgery (a myomectomy to remove a large fibroid), I struggled both physically and mentally. When I returned, I weighed 165 pounds and felt very weak. The Fit Results team met me exactly where I was. They customized a program for me through semi-private training, supported me with nutrition guidance, and helped me rebuild my strength safely. Because of this support, I'm now down to 149 pounds, stronger than ever (from squatting 15 lbs to 125 lbs), off my diabetes medication, and no longer a candidate for cholesterol medication. Group classes are fun & challenging, but if you're recovering from surgery or dealing with cyclical weight changes, I highly recommend personal or semi-private training. Be transparent, they will help you achieve your goals! No judgement! Huge shout-out to the owner AND every trainer at Fit Results--they are all incredibly skilled and truly know how to support you no matter where you are in your fitness journey. #STARTNOW #GETFIT

I had no other choice but to change gyms due to my gym closing - so I picked the best (and closest...right across the street) one I could. I couldn't be happier with my choice. The coaches are phenomenal. The programming is amazing. The classes are fun and full. The athletes are super friendly. There are a lot of strong athletes here, so if you're motivated by wanting to be as good as them, it'll definitely help your mental game (and hopefully physical gainzzzz). SLSC is super clean. They have TONS of equipment (stuff that I didn't even know existed). I'm pretty in love with this place and I'm glad I made the switch.

The brick style building, street parking, industrial vibe just puts you in the mood to lift heavy stuff! This is a true strength and conditioning box, and the CrossFit programming was on point! I found it super easy to sign my waiver and pay for my drop in ahead of time through their website. When I walked in, I was immediately welcomed by the staff and other athletes. I also received some great coaching cues from the various coaches who ran the classes over my 2 days dropping in. Get this, they also have open workouts for traveling drop ins.. score! Can't recommend this place enough for drop ins, or local athletes looking to take their strength and fitness to the next level!

The facility itself is impeccably clean and there…read moreis such a variety of tools and equipment to keep the workouts varied and make recovery a priority instead of an after thought. The crew at RSTR offers something different than other group fitness classes: 30 minutes of high intensity strength OR endurance focused programming. After taking the Endurance 30 this morning, I definitely felt cardiovascularly challenged. None of the individual components of the work out were to extreme, but the combination of movements and the ability to modify and determine your own intensity made it an incredibly challenging circuit. Another strength of this location is the attention to total body wellness. As part of the intro package, there was an in depth initial assessment, including an InBody scan to breakdown the specifics of the number on the scale. The patience to work through each component of the scan, break down what the metrics mean, and establish goals of where the numbers would ideally be in 3, 6, 9, 12 months was unexpected and fully appreciated. In reality, the South Loop is a gym / fitness facility heavy area but RSTR really differentiates itself through its focus on mindfulness, wellness, fitness, and balance. From nutrition programs, to varied and diverse workouts, to pre-workout stretching, and post-workout aftercare, this is a welcome addition to the neighborhood. It's approachable group fitness with unique, individualized, data driven metrics to measure your progress in a real way.

Finally, after hearing me bitch about my increasing weight for one time too many, my wife pushed me to hit up Phenomenal Fitness, just to give having a personal trainer a try. I'm so thankful I did--Sean, the owner, runs an awesome gym where I, a dude who has always considered himself NOT a 'gym person', feels perfectly welcome. Brian, the Operations Manager, did an awesome job at alleviating my anxiety when I came in to talk about signing up--and assigned me to Jessica, who is a joy to work with. She's flexible with my schedule, cares about my goals, and pushes me. The thing I like the most at PF is that you really work hard--but safety and health are the priorities.
