You do a 60 min workout consisting of 20 min of spin, 20 min of strength, 20 min of yoga in that order. i've tried so many spin and pilates classes and i find myself getting bored of them but i never get that feeling at Spenga. Liz is a phenomenal instructor, but all of the instructors are so high energy and make sure you have correct form to stay safe while working out. It's pretty beginner friendly, and the instructors offer modifications during each workout so you never feel weird about maybe not being able to do the workout exactly like them. I have made all my friends try spenga at least once and I'm truly obsessed.

The first time I took Spenga, I kept telling my best friend I wanted to come back immediately! We both booked through ClassPass since we wanted to try out a new studio. Plus, 3 - 20 min exercises in one class is super interesting. 20 min of cycling, 20 min of weight lifting, and 20 min of yoga at the end to cool down. The front desk staff are quite inviting! The instructors have AMAZING energy, especially when we first took our class with Sergio. He was motivating, smiled, and just had this high energy that kept me going in my workout. ESPECIALLY, during the first 20 min of the spin portion. I recorded my workouts on my apple watch for each section and booooiiii you basically burn about 400 calories total! You gotta bring your own towel and of course water!! They got you dripping in sweat! There's plenty of parking in the back of the building, plus lockers to put your stuff in and shower. I highly recommend trying this place out! You get everything you need from cardio, weights, to even yoga cool down.

I've been going hard in training to pass the Air Force ASOS / TACP physical requirements and this recovery method has made a huge difference for me. I'm PR'ing everything at the gym. I also track my light and deep sleep, and the stats from my deep sleep went from about 2.5 hours per night to about 6.5 after partaking in Fire & Ice. How does it work? You spend 3 min in the ice bath followed by approximately 15 min in the sauna. Repeat 3x and do one final ice bath dunk at the end. If you're killing it and feeling run down, check them out and ask for Justin. He'll take great care of you. It's made a HUGE difference for me!

It just opened in…read moreDecember and specializes in CrossFit, which is a strength and training program that is all the rage these days. The website is clean, well-designed, up-to-date, and very informative. The Facebook page provides statuses on weekly free introduction and yoga classes. I attended a free intro CrossFit class on a rainy Saturday morning. Bowie was very cheerful and made sure to introduce himself to all the newcomers. His positive energy was infectious and made me enthusiastic to start the workout. The gym is a "box" type building with one room containing all the equipment and space for the workouts. You go through the CrossFit workout sets in the group, and it's very encouraging to go through it together. Because, trust me, with these intensive workouts, you're gonna need all the encouragement you can get! Fortunately, as I lay dying in a the middle of a set of pushups, Bowie remembered my name and (again, cheerfully!) pushed me to keep going. I like that even though the exercises are tough, Bowie never resorts to the "bootcamp style" of yelling putdowns or using negative reinforcement. He plays a varied set of music from his iPhone throughout the hourlong workout. I definitely laughed at the (somewhat joking) "LIGHT WEIGHT!" yells around the room. I didn't feel like anyone was judging me based on my fitness level or anything else. After the free introductory class, there is usually a complimentary (optional) yoga class with a Big Yoga instructor. It feels great to wind down with some stretching with phenomenal yoga teachers. The gym itself is clean and down-to-earth. Ample water and towels are available! I like that they cap their class sizes to promote safety and higher level of personal coaching attention. If I start working closer to Montrose again, I would definitely consider coming here regularly... and, Roots Juice is just 3 minutes away for an after-workout smoothie!

Best gym on the East Side!!…read more I started coming to Facet Seven Eado to get in the best Bride-To-Be/ Wedding shape I could, and it happened thanks to Mikel!! I highly recommend booking with him if you're in the market for a personal trainer! Not only will he help you reach your goals, but he's also very informative with why you're doing certain exercises (which is very helpful as someone who has no clue!) I do have to say, having a personal trainer really made my experience at Facet Seven Eado! I love that you can view all the trainer profiles online and book with them, making the whole process more approachable. The gym itself seems to have everything you would need - from machines to free weights to classes. Parking: They have some handicap parking and a few open spaces in front of the gym. That being said, I almost always had to park on the side street. Accessibility: In addition to the handicap parking - They do have a ramp for accessibility to the entrance as well, but otherwise get ready for a pre-workout warm up hiking up the stairs to the front entrance! They also have a large shower stall (at least in the women's locker room) for accessibility needs. Staff: The staff (especially the trainers) are beyond welcoming. For some reason the people at the front desk aren't so much. During my time here, I rarely got welcomed which does make it a bit awkward if you're not so comfortable in the gym. Also, they have a scanner to checkin on your app but that worked less than 50% of the time for me, leading to more awkward moments with the front desk. Space: The space is very open, allowing for a lot of different areas. During my time here, they did move some of the weights around, which made for a bit of a choke point/crowded area for the weight machines near the rowers. Personally this was a turn-off for me. Also, being a warehouse, it gets warm. There is AC but during the summer months it doesn't cool too effectively - which I guess helps you sweat and maybe is a good thing (but for me wasn't the best). Overall, I'd definitely return here if I needed a PT to help reach another goal. I definitely recommend it if you're looking for a new gym in general !

While I used to go multiple times a week, I've now locked into a routine of once a week, mixing it in with outdoor runs, bike rides, and trips to the Y. What I appreciate most is that even though all OTF locations follow the same daily workout plan, the coaches at Midtown make it feel more personal. They're great at offering encouragement, checking your form, and helping you get the most out of every session. Classes are never too packed, which gives it a more focused and manageable feel, and the front desk and staff are always helpful and welcoming. There have been a few break-ins in the area, but the studio has taken good precautions--mag-locking the door and only opening it for members, and providing lockers with locks. I definitely recommend using them if you bring anything valuable. Overall, it's a solid, well-run studio that keeps me coming back.

Visiting from the Reston, VA location -- which is my new home studio…read more Came here on the week of Christmas. Last visited: Dec 30, '23. Coach was Abby, who was a little bit indifferent but seemed enthusiastic enough about coaching the workout and especially the template of the day. Which in this case was a hardcore, grueling endurance run. Close to a half-hour long, due to being a 2G, and alternated simply between a base and push effort. Even though I could not hold the continuous pace all throughout, and had to walk it out at least twice in total. But at the least my AVG speed that shows in the app is double digits. I think that's good, right? Anyway it helps to build up my endurance, which is kinda crap, and needed this kind of intense punishing workout. Maybe next time I will try to do the same template without a pause in between, and w/o compromising on my push intensity (maybe slow down slightly?) Anyways, the hardcore endurance work out was pretty solid. I felt that my body needed that. Also, they do *indeed* have the newer treadmills at this location in Midtown, Houston. You know, the shiny new ones that go up to 15 MPH. They have those. I certainly remember, because I went all-out at an intensity somewhere between 12 MPH and 15 MPH, on at least one occasion. Anyway, I thought coach and front desk were both amicable and friendly in general. Had good experience overall. Didn't get much a chance to talk to coach, but enjoyed talking to front desk after. Also to Ashley, who seems to be the assistant SM, or something? Friendly staff here. Slight minus, but not a deal-breaker: asking for my ID even though my first time at the studio. It's weird, usually they ask for a credit card, and don't bother with an ID. Lucky I had my DL lying around, but I found that off-putting that I was questioned and asked to prove my identity. I mean, you already have my name, height/weight, DOB, email, and address, what does my DL even do at that point? Lol. Seemed a weird request, but ok. Also, I enjoyed the showers here. My first time having a shower at any studio location. It was nice. Water was hot but not as consistent in the shower, for some reason. Go figure. Anyways, I enjoyed it here at the studio in Midtown at the Houston, TX location. Also, the studio is pretty damn spacious. Like it seemed one of the biggest studios at least in the class I attended. Bigger than most of the ones I go to, which is pretty solid. Convenient times and location, in my case. I would recommend this studio, as overall my experience was positive. Hopefully will be back sometime in the future.

I had never done HIIT or circuit style workouts before, so I always viewed exercise as a chore and just having to lift heavy weights, which never appealed to me. Short bursts of fun, functional, and a wide variety of movements was really game changing for me, and I have F45 to thank for that! At first I was obviously hesitant because the last time I had lifted any sort of weights was in 9th grade of high school aka ages ago. To even think of trying something as intimidating as CrossFit seemed to be unfathomable. I decided that I needed to turn my health around and get back into shape because honestly everything had changed about me like my energy levels, obviously my physique, and my attitude. I still remember coming in the first time and feeling my initial sense of intimidation leave as I really felt so unbelievably welcome in the gym. What appears as a blue, metal, unidentifiable exterior is really a warm community inside that has changed my life immensely. The coaches at this gym genuinely care about you as a person and want you to see growth in yourself, but also keep your overall health at the forefront. They design perfect workouts to target areas and muscles you forgot you even had. The community that Frank and Allison have created is one of more than a typical gym and is to the point where we are definitely more like a family. There is enough variety in equipment here to do any and everything you could need for a workout and they are always adding more things to vary the workouts. On top of this they always strive to do additional fun and new ideas like Nutrition courses, gym bingo, weightlifting courses, bring a friend days and so much more. I have now been at the gym for around 2 and a half years and I am dreading the day that I have to say goodbye to these amazing people in May. I'm emotional as it is so for me to say bye to people who have given me so much of their time and lives will be almost too much to handle. If you are looking for a new gym that will keep you consistently motivated to feel better overall and make you more than just a gym-goer to the point where you are an actual family member then you NEED to check out CrossFit Derive because if you go anywhere else you are missing out on so much in life.
