So when my engine had issues a couple years ago, I found Westside Automotive and had them repair it. After a horrible experience with Norden VW, I couldn't have been much happier with the service I received at Westside. It was an extensive repair, taking a couple months (they had to wait for parts), but it got done at a reasonable price and I haven't had an engine problem since. Since then I've gone back to them a few times for other minor repairs. I like the fact that they're polite and great to work with, they give you honest pricing (they'll say what prices are with different part models or with modified repairs), and they're pretty quick. They also have a key drop-box if you need to leave your car after hours. Things I don't like: there is NO freaking parking. The lot is always full and the street is always full. Dropping your car off after hours can be a bit of a headache. They have no shuttle service or loaner vehicles. It does often take a few days to get an appt (which is an issue if it's an immediate concern). Overall, I do keep going back. I don't have a ton of experience with different shops, so I'm not 100% that I'm getting the best deal or that this is the greatest place ever, but as long as I don't have a bad experience I see no reason to try someplace new.

(the final price was even cheaper than the quote). They weren't able to fix an engine misfire I had been having though. After having the car for the day and saying they checked everything they could think of, and they'd have to get back to me after more research(they didn't) they only charged me 1/2 hour for a diagnosis, but couldn't fix the problem. Eventually took it Dubsport where Richard instantly pulled the plugs and noticed the electrodes on the tips were damaged on a couple plugs and replacing them fixed the problem - even tho Westside claimed they checked the plugs and they were fine, a visual inspection showed they were obviously not, even to me.

Thankfully, she got a second opinion and was told it was a simple wield job, and it cost her less than $190. This business should be ashamed of themselves. My dad was a mechanic and had not just his mechanic ticket, but every ticket that was possibly associated with it, including heavy duty. We just lost him, and I'm disappointed when businesses think they can take advantage of people. Anyone I know will not be using your business as we will be spreading the news of my mom's experience. I also asked Midas last week to provide copies of my previous invoices but did not receive them. My understanding is that any applicable brake warranty would cover parts only, leaving me responsible for the labour charges. Given my previous experience and the lack of follow-up, I have decided to have the brake repairs completed elsewhere. A couple of months ago my 2005 Jaguar "S" Type encountered a power drain and the battery would die overnight. I tried to get it into Jaguar Edmonton but they were booked solid for a couple of weeks. I saw on Karmac's building that they advertised they workd on Jaguars so I took it to them the next day ( maybe the fact that I could get them to look at it so quick should have been a tip off to their incompetence) They kept my car for 8 days and during this time did nothing to it, they said they could not find the power drain and charged me almost $1,000.00 for keeping my car over a week and doing NOTHING. They even admitted that there were many days when they did not have time to work on the vehicle. Last week I took the car into the Jaguar dealership and surprise, surprise they found the problem and fixed it in 2 hours at a price almost half of what Karmac charged for doing NOTHING.
