I brought in my camera to sell or pawn, the cashier looked at it for one second and told me no. That is fine but the comment after is what grossed me out about this store. He told me he rather use phone camera then the camera I brought in ( Nikon coolpix p90) I didn't know there were standards on camera. If I can give them 10stars oh I will. Let me just say my wife and I just moved to Ames April of 2023 and we been coming here since I believe June-July MIGHT be sooner. But we normally go to a lot of pawnshops for loans when we were in Dubuque when we need extra cash. The new location they have now was owned by another pawnshop who we had a bad experience with. The day before our due date for our Loan on our Oculus we went into Express pawn to get it out. When we seen the oculus I immediately knew it wasn't ours. We were told an employee had given our oculus a week before to someone else that had an oculus in there as well mistaking ours for theirs when the names were completely different. They contacted the lady but who's going to bring it back or give it back if it had a lot of great games on there. The owner tried to give us used oculus when we paid over $600 for the oculus not including the games we had on there for only getting a loan for $150. I instantly let him know we weren't doing that and that we needed a new one or the money for it. He was kind enough to buy us a new one for the price we paid but it still was an inconvenience because the other oculus was connected to our info still and we have no way of getting it disconnected without the oculus itself. The reason for me telling this story is because ever since we started going to Ezpawn everything has been great. They work with you if you need a little extra time with making payments or need a little extra money. These past few weeks I've been sick on top of our job being closed during the school break so no money is really rolling in. Then this week payroll has had system problems with sending out payments. I expressed that to them because they had already been nice last week to give me a little time past my initial due date or final which ever is last and he understood and said I can come next week when I have it. When I say they deserve the up most respect and award for best customer service I mean that. They're also always so nice and friendly when we come in. I took a leaf blower in to sell at the Ames, Ia location. The idiot behind the counter kept absent-mindedly pushing the primer while searching on the computer. He was shocked that it wouldn't start at first, or stay running when I kicked it off. I cleaned the plug, got it to stay running and took it to Express Pawn. This is not my first bad experience here, but the third or fourth. The other visits I was buying and not selling. One instance a saw I wanted to buy wasn't supposed to be on the salesfloor for sale (though priced and on the shelf). Another time a camera my wife wanted wouldn't turn on or charge. It's a good thing we asked them to show that it worked before purchasing. Additionally it always takes at least two people to answer any questions.
