I had an extremely disappointing experience at EZ Smog in Torrance. I brought my 2022 Ford F-250 in for a smog inspection. Before taking even a few minutes to verify my aftermarket intercooler pipe, the technician immediately told me my truck would not pass and ordered me to "get this shit fixed," before telling me to leave the shop. The problem is that the part installed on my truck is an S&B Cold Side Intercooler Pipe, which is CARB-approved and 50-state legal. It has a valid California Executive Order (EO) number and is specifically designed to comply with California emissions regulations. What is most frustrating is that the technician never: * Asked for the CARB EO number. * Attempted to verify the part in the BAR/CARB system. * Took the time to determine whether the part was actually legal. Instead, he made an assumption, used unprofessional language, and dismissed me from the shop. After leaving, I went to another smog station in Downey. The technician there was genuinely surprised by what had happened. He immediately asked whether the previous technician had requested the EO number or looked it up in the system. When I told him he hadn't, he couldn't understand why I had been turned away without any attempt to verify the part's legality. I understand that technicians have an obligation to follow California emissions laws, and I fully support that. However, they also have a responsibility to correctly identify legal aftermarket components before refusing service. Customers should be treated with professionalism and respect--not dismissed based on assumptions. I hope the owner addresses this issue and reminds employees that professionalism, courtesy, and proper verification are just as important as enforcing the regulations. No customer should be told to "get this shit fixed" when the part in question is, in fact, California legal. read more

I've been coming to this smog shop for years and I bring multiple cars here, but this experience guaranteed I won't be back. I told the owner ahead of time that the car is not my main car so it had been sitting and asked if it absolutely needed to be turned off during the test because the battery is acting up even tho it's brand new He said yes and then turned it off immediately, and then the car wouldn't start. Instead of being even minimally helpful, he seemed annoyed, pushed my car out of his garage, said he had nothing to jump the battery,and to come back when everything is fixed so I told him I would call AAA since I didn't have anything to jump it with (I drove the car over an hour to try to avoid this)He went upstairs for a min came back and said I can't have my car sitting in his port cause it blocks other customers which is understandable but What really bothered me was that he wouldn't let me park the car in clearly empty parking spaces in front of his shop while I waited. Instead, he pushed it out toward other businesses and I thought he was helping me maybe move it somewhere safe and out of the way so I'm up front trying to steer and I'm not sure where he wants me to go so I turn around to ask but No he straight up just pushed it away from his shop and then walked away, leaving my dead car blocking shared parking and blocking cars from coming in and out of the main entrance which I thought was SUPER RUDE AAA arrived about 8 minutes later and confirmed the battery was 100% it was just a loose terminal, which they fixed in about 10 minutes. During that entire time, not a single customer came in or out of the smog shop.maybe he was pissed because when I got there he had no customers and he was sitting on the couch watching Tv so maybe I interrupted his favorite show or something I don't expect special treatment,or feel like I'm owed anything but basic courtesy goes a long way. It was really surprising because he's usually friendly but maybe that's just when everything goes perfectly, but the moment there's a minor inconvenience, the attitude changes. When AAA was done I could have easily just backed my car up back to his shop for the smog but NOPE I took my car down the street, got great friendly service, and paid $15 less. I won't be returning.and I will no longer recommend EZ smog ! read more
