I would not recommend this business…read more I contacted them this past January when my over-the-range microwave stopped working. The evaluation cost $85. It turned out I needed a new microwave; Ahmad said the magnetron had failed. I purchased a brand-new microwave of the exact same model and paid $160 to have Ahmad install it. Fast forward to July, and the house is being sold. An inspector hired by the buyers finds that the vent fan is not routing through the duct and outside the house as it should be. I contact Ahmad, explain the situation, and even send a photo of a diagram provided by the inspector. Ahmad asks me to remind him of the microwave model and confirms he will "make sure it's venting out of the current duct system." There is no confusion about what I'm asking for or what he's working with. He agrees to fix it--for $195. I'm already unhappy about this because the vent fan issue should have been addressed at installation, but I agree because we moved away months prior, I need to meet a deadline, and am coordinating from abroad. My husband and I debate whether this is a problem of inexperience (my generous view) or an intentional scam (his). The repair day comes, our realtor lets Ahmad in, and eventually I receive a text that it's completed. I pay immediately. The relief is short-lived. A few days later, the buyers return and discover the microwave is in fact NOT venting through the duct. They go outside--no airflow at the vent. I contact Ahmad again. He tells me he can fix it, but it will cost an ADDITIONAL $295. At this point I tell him that's unacceptable, because we agreed the problem would be fixed at the last visit for the $195 I already paid--keep in mind this should have been done at the initial installation. He says they didn't know this model would need additional work. But he knew the model in advance, so that's a poor excuse. I was also never informed at any point that the repair needed further servicing. They didn't check their own work. I ask for a refund and am told it "wouldn't make sense" because of the "work" that was already "completed." However, our realtor said Ahmad was there for 20 minutes, and as we've established, he did NOT fix the issue. No work was actually done. I ended up calling another repair person. When I explained the issue, he asked me to clarify whether this was a new microwave installation. I said the microwave was new but was installed by another company. He said, "They didn't install it properly." Yeah, I know. By the way, the second repair person's quote was $195. Compare that to Ahmad's total of $490--on top of the $160 I paid at installation. My husband may have been right after all, but either way I believe this situation was handled unethically by The Appliance Pros. I regret hiring them.
