They're still getting trained, but Harry was onsite to oversee repairs. While we waited we browsed the selection of glasses. I could tell he really enjoys picking out frames for his customers because it was smiles all around. I was wearing basic, bland frames from the eye doctor's office to get my eyes ready for Lasik. After Lasik, I never thought I'd be shopping for frames again...until I lost my favorite sunglasses. I have a really round, wide face that makes finding flattering and well-fitting glasses difficult, but Hugo came to the rescue! I was gravitating towards the kind of frames I've worn for as long as I can remember- inconspicuous, dark brown or tortoise shell- versatile but nothing that you'd think was especially cute or you'd even look twice at. However, Hugo said something along the lines of, "Glasses sit right on your face, and your face is the first thing people really look at. They should say something about you and who you are. Have fun with them! What are your favorite colors?" Dripping with skepticism, I told Hugo I needed something versatile- ahem, VERSATILE- that complimented my round and wide face, while he grabbed a handful of sunglasses that I would've never picked out myself. "Try these." Ok...hmm...I actually kinda like this one. This one's a bit much for me. This one isn't bad. This is cute but too small. OMG THIS IS ADORABLE!!...do you think I could pull this off?? Smiling and holding up a pair of gorgeous Lindberg rose and gold cat-eyed sunglasses, Hugo replied, "Of course, you can! I knew you would love these. They fit your face really well. This is such a fun, but retro-classic look that would look good with just about any outfit." Indeed, he was right. Refer to photos for versatility:) I've gotten tons of compliments on the sunglasses that Hugo picked out, and even a few years later, these glasses are one of the few things I never leave my house without. Hugo has also recently framed me with a pair of Lindberg blue light glasses for the office since I stare at a computer screen all day. I knew to trust him this time and didn't even bother looking around. I just let him do his magic, and of course, I ended up loving this pair as well. Oh, and who is this Coco that I mentioned at the beginning? Coco is the cherry on top of the whole experience at Eye Elegance- a sweet, extremely well-behaved Yorkie who brightens up just about everyone's day who walks through the door!...unless you're Robert T. apparently, who seems to have some sort of chip on his shoulder even though Coco is non-shedding and hypoallergenic lollzz.

I scheduled an appointment ahead of time for my yearly checkup, and contacts fitting. Everything went pretty smooth besides the technicians fumbling around a bit during the checkup. The visit with the optometrist was quick, and he seemed friendly and knowledgeable enough. I got my contacts in about a week after my appointment and payment for the exam and contacts. I received a rebate flier from Alcon when I asked for it from the front desk; this is usually something they hand to you and let you know to apply for the rebate at any other optometrist that I've been to in the past. When I selected my contacts (monthlys), the optometrist or the front desk staff failed to let me know that Alcon (the contacts manufacturer) does not do rebates for the particular brand/model of contacts that I purchased. These rebates are $75-100 so it's a large amount relative to the total cost of the contacts. I found the above out just now while trying to apply for the rebate; the rebates do not include my model and everyone there neglected to mention that. Thanks to the lovely front desk staff who aren't very knowledgeable on the products to help the customer with high quality service, they tell me that I am unable to swap my new and unopened contacts for another brand or model that do have an active rebate on them. My previous optometrist once ordered contacts for me and swapped them all out for another model free of charge when I was having comfort issues with them. Akin to this MyEyeDr telling me to kick rocks, I don't personally recommend this clinic and will not be returning again.

The only…read morething I don't like was it seems like in five visits they don't seem to offer anything in the price range that wouldn't mean a few hundred out of pocket after my insurance for glasses. This last visit I will shop elsewhere for glasses to hopefully get a better deal where I won't have to pay so much out of pocket. However, quality glasses, good fitting experiences for years. So I did not want to purchase, I wanted to try another prescription. The manager said that if I wanted to try another prescription, I had to pay for another exam. The doctor gave me the impression that I could not get better correction; she was very pushy and tried to discourage me from trying more prescriptions. So I felt trapped and accepted the contacts (this, I should not have done. I felt very helpless. I should have walked away.) But then, when my spouse went to pick them up, they gave me the wrong prescription! At this point, I lost trust and wanted to go somewhere else. So, I asked for a refund on the lenses. The lenses were unopened and unused. They said they would give me the other set of lenses, but would not give me a refund. In the end I had to go to another doctor, (Look Eye Care) pay out of pocket for another exam, and pay out of pocket for contact lenses (which give me complete correction, which the doctor at MEC said was not possible.) This was very expensive. I went to the Rice Village location for years, and always had good experiences. I only switched to the Oak Forest because my doctor in Rice Village moved away. I sincerely regret ever visiting this location. I am out hundreds of dollars for contact lenses I cannot use.

She look up the cost to see if my present insurance would be cover it. To my surprise it was not on list of insurance cover for the discounts. Though Alyssa gave me two quotes which I couldn't turn down for the simple fact I love the frames I had picked out. Yami was so helpful with helping me choosing out the frames, that fit my face.
