This is centrally located and I can always get an appointment at a time that suits my schedule. I like the staff and the quaint atmosphere. I have seen both optometrists, Dr. Nguyen & Johnson. They both have great bedside manner and explain things in a way that makes sense. More than anything they are ensuring that I have healthy eyes. Sounds like a no brainer, I know. But, I have been places that don't really perform in depth tests like they do. You know you are getting optimal care here. read more

I came to this location to purchase frames/lens because they are "in network" with my provider. I understand sometimes staff can be busy but staff should NEVER be to busy to greet customers. I never like to add ethnic background to the occasion but some times it's hard to ignore. I entered this location and NO one greeted me. An Indian guy entered literally two minutes after me and the reception staff projected their voice to greet and assist him. I should have know by the mostly Caucasian customer population it would be this way but I figured by the multi-cultural reception staff it would be different, wrong; guess their trained too. I'm willing to spend out of network dollars just to get grade "A" customer service. It's sad that even in 2016 a customer of certain backgrounds still can't get a proper greeting. I try to support "local" businesses but this is sometimes why it's hard. At least with a corporate facility I can voice my opinion an "d know someone will try to make the next experience better. My perception of this place just put my reality back in check. Thanks, EyeWear Gallery. POST RESPONSE UPDATE: Unfortunately, I'm sorry Dr. but clearly your "video" was edited. There's no reason to go back and forth but the "truth" of the matter was the lady did NOT greet me until I came to the Chanel section and that was after I'd been in the store over 5/10 minutes by that time I'd tried on several frames. I have No reason to fabricate bad service and the Yelp reviews I've reviewed and posted here, some recent clearly state otherwise and further substantiate the continued bad service. They have a great selection of eyewear and I always receive compliments regarding how good my new glasses look on me. I had a great conversation with the receptionist while checking in, and it seems like they have an entirely new selection of frames every time I go. There's also great food and shopping nearby. Based on their web site I thought this was going to be a good place to go to get a prescription to try some new contact lenses. Their web site said the exam and two boxes of contacts would be $270. I thought that was a little pricey but decided to try them anyway. The examination and four boxes of contacts wound up being $552 before insurance was applied. When I questioned it, their only response was that they need to check their web site. The bill included a $39 charge for images they took of my eyes, and they said nothing about that being optional and an extra charge. The day after my visit, I was told they were able to get another $59 from the insurance company. Instead of crediting my debit card, which is how I paid, I now have a credit with their business. Based on my experience with them, they are not going to want to refund my money. They made a mistake and only sent two boxes of contacts. I told them that I was okay with that and they could refund me for two boxes. The next day, a Saturday, I had a message on my cell phone that they wanted to know what I wanted to do about the two boxes I did not receive. Before I picked up the message, they called my wife and told her exactly what I had told them the day before and they were getting the other two boxes shipped. When I called them back and told them I did not want the other two boxes, and preferred a refund, the lady told me she did not think they could cancel the order because it was Saturday and did not think I could get a refund. It is odd they can order contacts on Saturday but they cannot cancel an order on Saturday. When I mentioned the pricing on the web site again, I was told that the information is not on the web site. I just checked again and it is still there. If I was really vindictive, I would probably sue them for false advertising, but I think I will see what the Tennessee State Attorney General's office says. Obviously, I would not recommend this business to anyone. read more

The entire experience at the Eyewear Gallery was very refreshing. There was virtually no wait. Imagine that. Dr. Nguyen and his whole team are great, and I am happy I decided to get an eye exam at the Eyewear Gallery. Throughout the exam process, Dr. Nguyen and his assistant explain everything in detail. I have not worn glasses in years, and blah blah blah the sales associate made the process of picking out frames comfortable. Service has actually been very good here. Very friendly staff and great selection. However, I spent $800 on lenses and was told it included a 1 year scratch warranty/guarantee. Unfortunately, when I went to use the warranty, was told it would cost $25 and then no more warranty. Basically you get 1 replacement. That's fine, but those details should be disclosed during the purchase. And perhaps I should have asked, however warranty/guarantee details should be disclosed. Definitely makes me question the quality/integrity of the lenses, as they are scratched after 3 months. Only cleaning with the cloths they provided by Eyewear Gallery. read more

They post their hours as open on Tuesdays 10am-6pm then I show up for my first visit with in their hours of operation (June 5, 4:15pm) and they are closed, no explanation. Reading some other reviews I can see my experience is not unusual. I would have liked to have them as a resource for my vision needs but I can see that if they are unpredictable as to their hours of operation, you should call ahead or just avoid them altogether. I do not recommend Eyewear Gallery based on this experience. read more

I found a pair of glasses that I liked on their website for $231. I went in the store to see how they fit/looked and to probably purchase. When I got there and found the frames the saleslady said they were $489. When I brought it to her attention about the website she didn't believe me until I told her to go on their site to check. When she saw it she didn't know what to say so she went in the back to ask the owner. The owner didn't even have the courtesy to come out and address me personally(Mrs. Johnson) she just told the sales lady what to tell me. When she got back the saleslady basically told me that the one price online was a mistake. When I told her that I checked the prices out on a lot of different frames she said "Oh yes, thank you for bringing that to our attention." I was told that they would not honor the online price and that if I hurried up and ordered it online before they fixed the problem then I could get the frames for that price but that there would be no warranty or any of the other perks from buying them instore. I posted a comment about my experience on their Facebook page and a few hours later my comment had mysteriously disappeared off of their page. They didn't even have the tact to respond to my complaint, they just deleted it. This shows me how little they care about their potential customers. When I left the store I went directly over to Eclectic Eye and bought a really nice pair of Lafont eyeglasses. I believe that when I am paying a fairly large amount for a product that the people selling it to me should treat me with respect, common courtesy, and kindness. I did not receive an ounce of any of those qualities from Eyewear Gallery!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you are in the market for some high end eyeglasses, do yourself a huge favor and skip going to this place! Please please go see the people at Eclectic Eye on Cooper, especially Erin. You spend a pretty penny but they tell you upfront what their prices are and don't try to bog you down with gimmicks or weasely delayed markups and they STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT! If there is any problem what-so-ever they will do anything possible to keep their customers happy. The eyewear gallery has a great selection of products but I am telling you.... The exam and assistance choosing my new frames was thorough and friendly, but the prices are outrageously high, even with the knowledge that high-end brand names were what they offer. There is some pressure from the sales staff to go for the most expensive frames and add-ons. I do not mind paying for quality, but the non-scratch coating I paid extra for is already chipping off and I have not had my glasses 6 months yet (and yes, I am cleaning my glasses the way you are supposed to). The receptionists and staff member I dealt with when I picked up my glasses were extremely snobby and made me feel like I was not worthy of their time. Keep in mind: I dealt with two different receptionists- one when I arrived for my appointment and a different one when I picked up my glasses. Neither were welcoming and quite honestly, I felt like I was being sized up the minute I walked in the door. So much for good first impressions. If I was basing this off the exam and choosing my frames, it would be a 4 star review, but the quality of the lenses coupled with a few of the staff members dropped it to a 2. I went in knowing I would be paying more for my glasses, but expected much better treatment and quality in return. read more

I thought after using less expensive eyewear clinics that I would try somewhere nicer this time. I don't expect everyone to be perfect. When a company asks for my money up front I have a higher standard. I was promised my glasses by a Friday. It was only after I called to check on them that Friday did they check on my order. They told me they could have them there the next day Saturday for a $20 expedited fee. Well, you promised them to me on Friday and now you're asking for more money on top of the $428 I shouldn't have had to pay in full to begin with until I was happy. They could have eaten the $20 and gotten them to me on Saturday but they did not. On Monday I get a call at 5:01pm saying my glasses were ready. They closed at 5pm. The following day I fly out for work and Thanksgiving prevents me from getting them for another week. Do not spend money with this place. Once they have your money they do not care what their level of service is and all they will want is more money from you to meet their own promises. The optometrist told me during my eye exam that it would be a bad thing if there were no independent optometry clinics left. But sir, at least those corporate ones get me glasses within an hour to a couple days.. read more

I paid 343.40 Eyewear Gallery $343.40 for lenses. Afterwards, I checked my Explanation of Benefits from my vision insurance company (VSP) and saw that I was only responsible for $248.40. I was overcharged $95.00 by Eyewear Gallery! I called and asked about the difference, but did not receive a believable answer. I will not be back. read more

I have patronized this establishment for years. Purchasing Tom Ford, Chanel and other frames for me as well as my family. My husband and I walked in and the young lady (early to mid 30's dark hair) stated "we close in 30 minutes!" She did not say hello, may I help you. We looked around and returned the next week. We purchased 1 pair of frames with lenses. The same young lady rushed us because it was the end of the day. Our insurance paid half and we paid $600 out of pocket. Two weeks later no glasses because the lenses were scratched in the lab. It would be another 2 weeks before we could get glasses. Because they needed to send the lenses back to the lab. We were initially offered 20% off another pair of frames..... We agreed, then the rude young lady called back to say we could get 20% off of the pair that we had previously ordered and paid for. We said no thanks, cancel the glasses and lenses. She said "NO!" They could not do that because it was already filed by the insurance company. One month later no refund and no glasses! BAD service and extremely RUDE staff!!!! STAY AWAY read more

My 91-year-old mother patronized this business on the advice of her very reputable opthalmologist. The treatment she received was shameful! First off, the doctor in charge of her refraction was rude and dismissive. After her new frames and lenses were ordered she realized they charged her for hundreds of dollars in add-ons without offering her the option to decline them (polycarbonate lenses, antiglare coating and other things she was not informed of and did not agree to). She is on Medicare, so I guess they thought they'd just hurriedly cram in every high margin option and fleece the system with no pushback from her. To add insult to injury, they put the wrong prescription in one lens and had to re-do them. Throughout this nightmare process, their people were snotty, pushy and seemingly uncaring about sending an elderly customer out the door with a marginal pair of overpriced glasses crammed with useless add-ons. Unfortunately my mom had paid by check and felt she didn't have the recourse she might have had with payment by credit card. You may think you've won this battle, Eyewear Gallery, but you won't be in business long-term with shoddy practices like these. Buyers, beware! read more

Not only do they have a fabulous selection of eyeglass frames, the eye exam is very comprehensive and the doctor takes the time to ensure that you understand what the tests say about the health of your eyes. He also is very patient and exacting in determining the best prescription for your eye glasses and contacts. I went into Eyewear Gallery on Dec. 2014 to purchase glasses for myself. In addition I had viewed and printed their Trade in Glasses promotional for trading in your old glasses and receiving $50 toward a new purchase. Based on their promotional it seemed as if they were sincerely concerned about the number 1 cause of blindness in the world and assisting several entities, however they can't be. Although on the printed copies it claims some exclusions apply however the exclusions were not listed to confirm. The sales rep stated that they could not honor because I have insurance, I frowned? I thought the ultimate goal was to assist those who are without corrective glasses? In addition when I indicated that the exclusions were not listed and I would like to speak to a manager, she went to obtain one. However upon her return she stated that despite not listing the exclusions, the manager would not honor their trade in glasses promotion. I asked the Sales Rep the name of the manager who not only rejected honoring their promotional but also didn't think enough about me to even come out to acknowledge my concerns. read more

I was extremely upset with my visit today. This is my first experience with the company and I have been working with them for months (since Sept) on getting my glasses and trying to figure out what is going on. I felt that Dr. Johnson was insensitive and really wasn't trying to get to the root of my problem. Ask the appropriate questions to determine why my vision is blurry. He was only concerned with reading verbatim what was documented in my file and proving that his initial prescription was better than my original. He focused on the fact he had already redone my lenses once before based on what I asked for. However, he made the recommendation to redo the lenses instead of taking the time to reexamine first. That was his bad decision not mine. But I felt like he took it out on me. It was an extremely frustrating experience, I was crying and completely uncomfortable. Not until I worked with another young lady did she ask me questions, consider other possibilities, until she asked the right questions. When do you experience the blurriness... It is when I am looking at my computer. Then she came up with the idea that maybe you need a different set of glasses for the computer. As I typed this on my computer it is blurry but if I can fix this issue then I think I will be fine with my prescription. But Dr. Johnson didn't ask the right questions... he was too busy reading and proving that he has done all he can do. I spent a nice amount of money on my glasses and I would appreciate having a great experience. read more
