Once you make your appointment, they send out various reminder text to keep you updated and reminded about your appointment. One the day of, you fill out the demographic and health history form (which was a breeze). They checked me in and took me to the back quickly. I had a thorough screening. The doctor is very smart and have advanced technology. When I was done, the tech took me to the front and help me pick out glasses that best suited my preference. I enjoyed my experience. The midtown eye care clinic was decently close to my home and Dr.Powelson had great reviews. So I bit the bullet and decided to schedule an appointment. The staff was very courteous and the doctor was phenomenal. As I've mentioned to him at my appointment, this has been the more extensive and helpful appointment I've ever had with an optometrist. We even slightly discussed lasik (we would have discussed it more but at the time I am not a candidate for it). Dr.Powelson actually teaches how to perform lasik at the school in town as well. So if you're looking into that option, or looking for anything pertaining to your optometry needs, I absolutely recommend going to Midtown Eye Care and seeing Dr.Powelson. They also had a decent selection of eyeglass frames in the clinic. Brands such as Kate Spade, Ralph Lauren, Oakley, Ray Ban, Lacoste, Sketchers, amongst others. Prices were beyond reasonable. Instead of going through the eye dilation situation that everyone hates about optometry visits, they have this new machine where you put your eye towards a lens and use your face to press into it until you change the blue light in the lens to green and it scans a photo of the back of your eye. It does cost extra, but it is very affordable and your eye scans get stored in their database. Midtown Eye Care also fits and makes lenses on location, although some insurances do require them to send the frames out to their own lab and the lenses be made and fit there and then they'd send it back to the optometry clinic and you go pick them up. I would recommend this place over and over again. This time, I'm actually looking forward to my next optometry visit.

Dr. Andrena Woodhams gave a very informative eye exam and was great at explaining the details of how my eyes are doing. After the exam I picked out the perfect frames and ordered some contacts. I thoroughly enjoyed trying on all the stylish frames and the staff was very knowledgable and helpful (and patient) when it came to helping me find the right frames. Their selection of frames cover a fairly broad price range.(I browsed frames from $100-$500+) And all of them are attractive. This allowed me to have plenty of frames to choose from. I made it very clear at the appointment that I was completely out of contacts, and the staff provided me a 5-day supply to get me through until the order arrived. That Monday came and went with no update. When I called, I was told that only one lens had arrived and the other would follow shortly. Another full week passed with no communication at all. As of today--two weeks after placing the order--I still have no contacts and no information about when they will arrive. Every update has required me to call them; not once has the office reached out with a status update or explanation. Running out of medically necessary corrective lenses is extremely disruptive, and the lack of follow-through and communication from this office has been incredibly frustrating. A delay can happen, but not providing updates, missing multiple timelines, and leaving a patient without the ability to see properly is unacceptable. I ultimately requested a refund and will be taking my business elsewhere. For comparison, I ordered the same contacts through 1-800-CONTACTS and they arrived in 24 hours for only a $10 premium. The difference in service speaks for itself.

Now previously I haven't had an issue with Peepers Optical but today was the exception. For starters I wasn't greeted. AT ALL! One lady even walked past me to the back office. When the other young lady got off the phone she was absolutely no help at all. She just said "pick out some frames" and I honestly needed assistance. My daughter had already made it to her tolerance level and I was clearly struggling and not one soul ask if I needed help. Then when I just picked out a pair of frames out of frustration, she didn't check to make sure the frames fit my daughter correctly. I had to ask her. I spent more time standing around waiting for someone to help me through the process. This is not the type of service I expect. I also plan on calling because I'm livid. If I didn't truly enjoy Dr. Flinn I would take my business elsewhere. But it's so convenient because the optical shop is right there.

If they had looked at my existing glasses they would have seen that I had them. I made the mistake that they had looked at my old glasses and would replicate the features or at least ask me about the features that I wanted. The manager here seems totally incompetent. Never never never will I ever use this business again and I will recommend that everyone I know choose a more reputable and knowledgeable optometry business for their eye care.
