I have great vision, but I just felt it was important to have a doctor who knows me, who has my chart on file, and can check every year to see how I'm doing. I spend a lot of time on my computer, so it was really good advice to get some blue lenses. They have really helped my eyes to be less tired during the day. I do notice a difference, like today I forgot to wear them and I am totally over it by this point. I had a great experience from making the appointment, getting checked in, talking with Dr. Greenhaw, and getting my new glasses. The staff did a great job getting to the bottom of some weirdness with my insurance, and did it in a fast and friendly way (friendly to me as well as the folks on the other end of the line, which you love to see). I hope you guys are taking care of yourselves and your eyes. As I tell my kids, we only get two and we have to take care of them! Thank you Dr. G and your excellent staff. I will SEE you next year! I just crack myself up.

We paid $175 for a routine eye exam, we have VSP (vision insurance), which should be billed for all routine eye exams. Because this is an ophthalmologist and not an optometrist the provider gets to choose how they code it, medical or vision. They will not tell you what they will charge or how they will code it before the exam! Even if you ask to check (my wife did) When I called in and explained we had VSP and our copay was $15, the billing lady (who was very nice) just kept saying we charge as a medical doctor, which didn't explain why a routine exam was not being coded to VSP vision insurance. In her defense should couldn't say "we could bill it to vision but we make a lot more money by choosing to bill this as a medical procedure." Unless you want to pay 1000% more than you should, do not use an Ophthalmologist for an eye exam.

Finally a guy picked up the last call and told me they hadn't even looked at the yet. I googled an eye stroke. In 1/3 of people it can lead to a brain stroke! This morning I was diagnosed with shingles on my face, and my doctor wanted me to see an…read moreoptometrist right away to make sure it hadn't spread to my eyes. After leaving the office, I started calling around trying to find someone who could see me the same day. After a bit of a hunt, I found Oklahoma City Vision. The receptionist was super nice and told me to just come on in since I was already nearby instead of waiting an hour and a half for my appointment time. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted right away. Both receptionists were so friendly, and I was called back about 10 minutes after checking in. The tech who helped me was amazing--so kind, knowledgeable, and familiar with autoimmune conditions. She took her time going through my medical history and made me feel really comfortable. After she finished, I only waited a few minutes before Dr. Pitts came in. He was so patient, kind, and detail-oriented. I've been getting annual eye exams for over 30+ years, and I've never had a doctor be so thorough or explain things in such detail. Usually, I get my exam, grab my prescription, and leave--but this visit was completely different. Right away, Dr. Pitts noticed I had severe dry eyes and actually took the time to talk through past treatments and new options besides just eye drops (which never seem to be covered by insurance anyway!). I had no idea there were other treatments available, so that was a really pleasant surprise. Thankfully, the shingles hadn't spread to my eyes, so I decided to go ahead and do my regular exam. Dr. Pitts showed me the images of my eyes and explained everything so clearly. I told him I hate driving at night because I can't see well, and he figured out it was because of my previous prescription! He explained exactly what needed to be fixed. I couldn't remember what vision insurance I had, and I planned on paying out of pocket. I told the tech this as well. She started naming vision insurance one name sounded familiar VSP. While helping me with contact lenses, she took it upon herself to check my insurance and found that I actually had VSP coverage. That ended up saving me about $250! She definitely didn't have to do that, but it meant so much. Overall, I was so impressed and grateful that they fit me in last-minute and still gave me such a thorough, unhurried exam. Dr. Pitts and his team were wonderful from start to finish. I left there understanding more about my eyes than I ever have before. I also left with a week's worth of trial contacts, and my vision already feels so much better! I'm actually excited to go back next week for my recheck, dry eye treatment, and to pick out some new glasses.

I walked into Precision Optical and within minutes, Bret McKean the owner and operator looked at my prescription and the shape of my face and suggested the perfect size and shape frames to fit. The store doesn't look that big from the outside, but he has a great selection of frames (the big chains seem to carry dozens that all look alike). He broke down all the lens options and told me exactly what would benefit me the most and also told me what I didn't need without any high pressure sales pitch. When we left my husband said, "Man, that guy really knows his stuff" which is absolutely true. Bret's kindness and dedication to each customer was also evident when he called me personally to tell me my glasses were ready (exactly the day he said they would be). When I went to pick up my glasses, there were other customers he was helping. I witnessed him treat everyone else with the same care and respect, even with customers who obviously didn't have deep pockets. He adjusted my new frames which are the most comfortable I've ever had. This place is a true gem in OKC.

One of the lenses was almost popping out and the glasses sat funny on my face. I was worried that I would have to send the glasses back to the manufacturer to have them repaired. Thank goodness I called Action Optical! During the call, I was told that they would look at the glasses and repair them if possible.
