This was my first time doing business with this place. I had been fighting other chain locations that essentially copied my previous prescriptions and would state no change was needed but my glasses weren't ever quite right. I got an exam for contacts and frames here and while unfortunately an Optometrist had left that took my insurance between the time of scheduling and appointment, the owner personally handled my case and gave me a fair deal. My usual eye dr. at Gemini didn't take my new vision insurance. I prefer Caviar frames and when I stopped in Rey assured me he could get me the frames I wanted and that I could use my insurance. So back I went with my prescription in hand. He waited on me personally. I handed him my insurance card and a post-it with the model number of frames I wanted. I had already checked pricing at LensesRX online for the same frame and was quoted $535 for the complete set of glasses I wantd WITHOUT using any vision insurance. He came back with $689 written on a piece of paper for just the frames. Then he said to add $180 for lenses and other upcharges could go up to $100. So I was looking at $989. I told him I never paid that much with insurance at Gemini for Caviar frames and told him about my quote at LensesRX.com. He said well let me see if I can do better. He walked back to his computer and asked me my date of birth (He was actually looking up my insurance this time). He then show me a scribbled piece of scrap paper that said my frames would be $689 minus $150 that my insurance covered and that my lenses would now be the $20 copay (instead of the $180) he quoted. So now my total price was $559. I asked him for details of what type of lenses etc. and he just told me it would be a nice lense. I pressed on and said anywhere else I have received a quote for glasses would provide me with a detail of what I was getting and how much insurance was covering. He just looked at me and handed me the scrap piece of paper with nothing but numbers written on it. I asked him why I would pay him MORE for the same glasses using my insurance than I could pay LensesRX less for NOT using my insurance. He just stood there blankly and stared at me, handed me my insurance card back and I walked out. This is already a lengthy review so I will wrap it up but the place has a sketchy feeling and now I know why. My gut told me no, but I really wanted those frames. Since I have ordered the frames online for $300, and Walmart is going to put my new lenses in for the $20 copay using my insurance. This man is not here to make new customers or help the general public, he is here to make a buck. I can't even imagine how many families he has taken advantage of over the years. He is not listed on Caviar Frames website as an a authorized dealer so I can only imagine how he is getting their frames. Just a follow up to my last review. I would give this company a negative number if it was possible. When we visited with our insurance we were quoted over 1000.00 for 2 pair of glasses and safety goggles. When we went back to pay there were several issues (see previous post) and the owner wanted to charge us more. We said no thanks. We found Optical Fashions in Huber Heights and they were also on our insurance. We were shocked when the final bill on our 2 pair of glasses and safety goggles was a total of 405.00 on the same insurance. Stay away from Eye Xcessories he is a rip off artist! read more

Excellent work, in store repair, great customer service, and overwhelming friendliness. I was an out-of-town visitor to Dayton, and I did a number on my wire-framed glasses after a long day sight-seeing. I found them through a quick online search, and called them in a panic because they were unusable. They not only calmed me down and gave me directions across town, but assured me they would wait for me after closing hours in case traffic held me up. Traffic did not hold me up, they assured me it wasn't as bad as it looked, fixed it in 10 minutes, and charged me $5 when I would have paid $50! And they were apologetic that it wasn't a simple fix! if you want a trashy looking office and to be argued with by a proprietor about politics then this is the place for you. And to top it off he made the glasses wrong and blamed it on the argument distracting him! How Professional is that? Any professional should know that they should not say controversial things around their customers. I have actually told my congregation about my experience and they agree not to patronize the store. Go to Gemini , Walmart or the new one in Meijers if you are looking for a place where you are treated with respect and Professionalism. he blames Obama for his troubles he needs to blame himself for handling his customers as though they were his sparring partner. I am very insulted!! If he wants to apologize and not talk about the things he was talking about around his customers I will edit this review.
