I thought I would put this on Eye 1's Dayton site as well as the Hyde Park site.There are no negative reviews on the Dayton site but in response to some at the Hyde Park location, here is what I wrote: I recently read of a burglary at Eye 1 in Hyde Park and was curious about it and ran across the yelp reviews when I performed a google search. When I read the 1 star reviews, I was perplexed because those reviews are the exact opposite of my husband and my experience over the last 20+ years. Any establishment that has been in business for that long is doing something right. Obviously I wasn't there when the "negative" experiences occurred, but if I have to wait to get excellent customer service, I'll wait, knowing that the end result will be excellent. I imagine the complainers are impatient individuals with unrealistic expectations and have never run a business themselves. My experience has been 5 star with great service, great selection and styles, and great attention to detail. If you want to go to Lenscrafters, I suggest you go there and follow up with Walmart after that. Just because the employees don't come running up immediately doesn't mean that it is bad customer service. What it means to me when I go to Eye 1 is that someone else is in the process of getting excellent customer service and I'm willing to wait for mine. My wife is asian and her face structure (especially her nose) simply does not make selecting eyeglass frames an easy task (her complaint, not mine FYI for those of you who may have political correctness concerns with the above statement). She and I had easily visited a half-dozen large commercial chain eyewear stores in addition to several specialty eyewear merchants between Cincinnati and Dayton. On recommendation, we visited the Oakwood location for Eye-1 and were helped by owner David. I was fascinated watching him study my wife's face for a few moments after which he immediately headed directly to a display case and grabbed a frame. The moment she saw the frame on her face she exclaimed, "this is it!" After hearing from my friend who originally recommended I visit this store, I wasn't surprised by my wife's reaction. The above actually took place a couple of years ago. I'm writing now because I just came back with my repaired frame I bought for myself last year after being convinced it was beyond repair. The silver lining is they were able to get it repaired for me under warranty. You're not simply buying a pair of frames from this specialty shop. You're buying expertise, artistry, and old-fashioned service. This is clearly the place to find a frame when you have no idea what frame will look best on you and you're willing to permit an expert to take charge. This kind of peace of mind is worth the price (and worth the trip). My two cents. read more

Our bespectacled family of four is ALL sporting frames from this amazing store. What distinguishes this operation is the keen ability of the staff to help select frames that seem to have been created just for your face. I am constantly receiving compliments on my glasses in the most random places and from a diverse group of admirers. Have fun looking around, but ask the genuinely friendly staff to help narrow down the field if you truly want frames that add to your personality and enhance your natural looks! Besides looking good, you will appreciate the craftsmanship of the lenses. Two of our prescriptions are in the -7 and -9 range, and EyeOne is able to give us stylish, light, and polished eye wear that looks and feels great. In the 19 years since first visiting this store (in Yellow Springs), the parents of this clan have veered away once each, and still regret it! Eye 1 also has the best selection of quality and stylish frames in any city I have lived . . . and over the past 30 years I have lived in Cleveland, New York City, Washington, DC, Vancouver, BC CA, and Seattle WA. Great store! I travel a great deal for work and shop in my spare time. I've never seen an optical store like this (well, other than their Cincinnati store which is also awesome). I browse in New York, San Francisco and beyond, but only buy glasses and sunglasses from Eye 1 because they have the best selection on the planet. The service is great too! The first time I shopped there, the salesperson took one look at me and handed me a really cute pair to try on. They were perfect - so perfect that after about 30 minutes of trying stuff on, I bought that very first pair. read more
