Welp - Looks like I need to find a new eye doctor! On February 20, I visited Eye Associates of Hollywood and saw Dr. Garcia. She was great, kind, energetic, and finally gave me a diagnosis that explained what had been going on with my eyes. I felt hopeful after that visit. After completing the 10-day treatment, my eyes were better still not right after I stopped. I called the office on March 11 and left a voicemail. I eventually received a call back and was told to continue treatment and come back in sooner, so I scheduled a follow-up for March 30. I also asked for a refill on my eye drops and was told it would be called into my pharmacy. That never happened. I called again and left another voicemail. No response. I waited about a week, called again, and still no response and no prescription called in. At that point, I had no way to continue the treatment I was told to follow and my follow up appt was approaching. Today, Friday March 27, I received a call from Jose asking if I was keeping my Monday March 30 appointment. I explained the situation and said that would depend on the doctor wants, since I had not been able to continue treatment due to the prescription never being sent in. Instead of addressing the issue, he repeatedly asked if I wanted to cancel. When I asked about the cancellation policy, he said there would be a fee if not within 24 hours, so I told him to cancel. When I asked for his name, he avoided answering and kept talking. I had to ask multiple times before he finally said his name was Jose and started spelling it even though I didn't ask for it. The interaction felt dismissive and unnecessarily frustrating. I'm not going to lie, he pissed me off. Overall, this experience has been extremely disappointing. The doctor seemed great - although I didn't know my condition was chronic until I looked it up on the internet. The lack of follow-through, poor communication, and unprofessional front office experience completely undermined the care. It is unacceptable to leave a patient without access to prescribed treatment and then push them to keep an appointment anyway. Very disappointing. read more

I have been patient of Eye Surgery Associates for more than 40 years beginning with Dr. Duffner and then Dr Jones. Unfortunately the practice has lost the emphasis on medicine and shifted to business. I was scheduled for my annual exam and received a text message 10 days prior requesting that I confirm. I confirmed. I received a second message requesting that I confirm. I confirmed. Scheduled for 9:30, I arrived at 9:00 and electronically checked in. Fifteen minutes later I was told that the Doctor was no longer with the practice. I asked if I could be seen by another doctor and was politely, coolly, and indifferently told- NO. The scheduling is terrible. You often have to wait for 6 months to get an appointment. Then when the time gets close to you scheduled appointment, the office calls and has to change you appointment as the Md has a conflict. Then they put you on the bottom of his list, making you wait another 6 months for an appointment . This has happened so many times. read more

Avoid Eye Surgery Associates (Hollywood, Pembroke Pines, Weston). After 10+ years as a patient, I've had multiple bad experiences -- but my last visit was the final straw. I arrived early for my appointment, only to be told (after waiting over 30 minutes) that my doctor was no longer with the practice and my appointment had been canceled -- without any notice at all. No call, no email, nothing. I tried contacting the office manager and never heard back. No apology, no accountability, no concern for patients. Completely unprofessional!!! read more

Would give zero stars if it was possible. Drove over an hour with my son to get there for his appointment. We encountered traffic on the way and called the practice to let them know we would be 25 minutes late. They told me I was fine and had an hour window to make the appointment. When we checked in, even the electronic check in machines stated a 30 minute window, which I was in the window of. However the office staff said they only have a 15 minute window and I had to reschedule the appointment because the doctor wouldn't see my son. Clearly a very poorly run practice with doctors that could care less about kids. Will never return. read more

MINUS 10 If i can give a -10 review i will do it..... went the first time and since i didn't have a referral (even though i asked 3 times when requesting the appointment) they did not see me. Went to my primary again, ask for the referral, request another appointment and the front desk tells me the referral has to be from the insurance!!! what?? since when the insurance give referrals??!! my primary doctor is giving me the referral as he does with many other doctors. (BTW my husband was seen last week with the same type of referral)...they just simply did not care nor try to resolve this issue!! i lost 2 days of work!! i will not go again an make sure to not recommend this place read more

Whew, I am glad I did not look at the reviews before coming here today. I was going to another Opthamologist for 12 years but changed insurance and here I am. Anyway, this office is so bright and huge!!! I like the setup overall. I did feel a little odd paying my co-pay at a machine. I have never paid this way at any medical facility, but it is what it is. They have a nice optical area. I did not go in but saw it from afar. My appointment was at 10:10. I was done with everything at about 11:07. Not bad at all. They have so many patients but they also have multiple doctors. Anyway, the lady who checked my eyes before the doctor was fantastic! I did not catch her name but she is awesome. I saw Dr. Joel Sandberg and he is just wonderful. He gave it to me straight. I got my yearly checkup and asked about Lasik. I am not a candidate and he gave me great advice. I like how he is approachable and doesn't have his head in the clouds like some doctors. I was happy when I left the office and actually enjoyed my visit. read more

Ok when I arrived I was a little put off by the automated check in system. Especially because it was long and felt impersonal. However once I was done a nurse immediately called me over to confirm the information. There was a short wait before I was hailed again to come to the back room to see the optometrist. She gave a very thorough game exam, explained everything that she was doing so we felt very comfortable. I definitely recommend this office if you're looking for an optometrist. My regular doctor referred me for a special case. However, upon arrival, I found out that they also handle daily care, i.e. prescriptions for glasses, contacts, regular eye visit etc. read more

I get there the day of my appointment, they take me inside the consultation room and ask me the reason for my visit the information me that doctor don't do contacts. We saw Dr. Cardone in 2021 for my infant son's eyes. My wife left the room crying because of the horrendous bedside manner and verbal abuse from Dr. Cardone. He attacked her parenting because we had not brought our son in "sooner". We went to another Dr. in Bascom Palmer. What a difference. We were validated that we WEREN'T TOO LATE and now our son is thriving and his eye alignment corrected. Fast forward 2 years later and we keep getting bills in the mail saying our insurance did not pay the bill and that its now our responsibility for that 10 minute (horrendous) appt. we had with Dr. Cardone. Not only is their Doctor treat his infant patient's Mom like dirt but on top of that their billing department is inept and defaults to charging the patient. Even during this difficult time they go above and beyond. They have a convenient onsite optician Alan Goldberg, who always helps meet my needs with eye glasses he has the newest updates in lenses & frames! GREAT service never disappoints. I took my 3 week old daughter here for an Opthamologist appointment, sounds young but i was referred by my pediatrician to check her eyes because when examining her, he couldn't see the red reflection due to her dark complexion. Sounds scary but this place was able to conveniently see her the next day. This place is located behind the IHOP in Hollywood. Very easy to find and has a parking lot. When you go in the building, the pediatric eye doctor is right there. It's a separate section. Because my daughter is still a newborn, they have placed me in a different room then the other kids. The wait was a bit long but not unusual. I couldn't believe it but they dilated her eyes, which is normal for adults but didn't know they do it as young as premie's. She turned out to be ok. She was well behaved during the entire visit and pleased with how they handled her at her age. read more

I took my two kids for more than ten years to this practice, and I later became a patient. Dr. Cardone is amazing, so was Dr. Kellough, who unfortunately moved away. Last Spring, I scheduled an appointment for my daughter and a week later for me. I could not go to my appointment because I was scheduled to get the first COVID vaccines available, but I was on a waiting list and not confirmed until the last minute. I had to miss my appointment at Eye Surgery Associates, but I called the office and explained that I was confirmed to take my first dose of the COVID vaccine that was scarce at the time. Everything seemed fine and at no moment was I told about any cancellation fee. The office sent me a no-show fee for 50 dollars despite explaining the situation in the first place. I have called several times to the front desk and have always been transferred to the billing department. I have been trying to contact someone at the billing department, but to my disbelief, there is always a recording machine. I will go ahead and pay the fee, but rest assure that you no longer will have my children or me as patients. I would give no stars. The staff are unprofessional. Got charged for missing appointments when I never signed off on agreeing to it. Manager agreed to waive all fees and never did so. Went for another appointment and the charges were still there. The receptionist with yellow and brown hair showed me the paperwork proving I never signed anything. She proceeded to give me a hard time about the charges as if she never spoke to me face-to-face about waiving them. Also they never keep the same staff. There is a huge turn over in this office and definitely lets you know how they conduct "business" I will never return. I should of listened to other previous patients and the horrible ratings. I actually had a copy of the specific referral. They charged me out of pocket and ignored my referrel. They told me to reschedule for a field vision test. Do not trust this company. They do not disclose real prices. We were told a certain price for a stye removal. Then get charges that were never told to us. We got a $385 from an anesthesia company we never heard of, and Eye Surgery Associates say they don't have anything to do with that and blame the facility. Even worse the facility that Eye Surgery Associates chose for us told us 4 times they will only charge us $181. Then a month later the facility sends a new made up bill for $907. Again, Eye Surgery Associates says they have nothing to do with that, and say call the facility. But when we call the facility they don't care, and say they can change the price to whatever they want. So, nobody helps. Eye Surgery Associates say it's not their fault, but they chose to require you to use these facilities that change prices to whatever they feel like. Don't trust them. read more
