The experience was bad start to finish (I won't write a rant just know)…read moreI tried them because of the "great " benefit with aarp There is no great deal. They are like car dealers pricing isn't transparent. I saw on aarp what a great deal I would get and the specifics. I walked out paying over $700 and they are the I've ever had. two weeks later. Dont go there people. It's a rip off

I'm honestly shocked at how poorly this LensCrafters location is managed. I've been trying to get…read moremy prescription faxed to me for over three weeks--yes, three weeks--and every time I call, I'm told the fax machine is "still not working." This is a national chain in the middle of Manhattan, not some mom-and-pop shop in the middle of nowhere. How is it possible that a business dealing with medical prescriptions can't figure out how to send a simple fax? What's worse is that I called over a week ago and was promised follow-up, yet here I am, still chasing down my prescription so I can order contacts. The staff just gives the same excuse without offering any real solution. It's beyond frustrating and completely unprofessional. Unless they're going out of business, there's absolutely no excuse for this level of negligence. I shouldn't have to physically go to the store just because they can't get their basic office equipment working. Ridiculous. Save yourself the stress and go to a location that actually knows how to support its customers.

Be very careful with billing transparency at this office. We scheduled a routine eye exam and…read moreprovided vision insurance. During the visit, retinal imaging was recommended and we were explicitly told that if it was done that day, it would be covered under the routine vision exam. After the exam was completed, we were informed that the visit was billed as a medical exam, resulting in unexpected out-of-pocket charges due to our medical deductible. Medical insurance was not discussed or verified until after the visit. Only after requesting further information did we receive the billing and diagnosis codes used to justify medical billing. None of the documented diagnoses were discussed with the patient during the exam, nor was it explained that a medical condition was being evaluated or that billing would change as a result. The issue is not the clinical care, but the lack of transparency and misleading communication around insurance coverage and diagnoses. Patients deserve clear, upfront explanations before testing is performed. Based on this experience, we would not return.

Be very clear up front what you will be charged for the appointment. I visited this location before…read morewith different insurance, and this time was surprised to be charged at two different points while there. The first charge made sense - it was for my co-pay which is clearly shown on my insurance card. As I was leaving I was told I needed to pay an additional amount for the "medical portion". The medical portion was apparently seeing the doctor for approximately 5 minutes; it was the shortest amount of time I have spent with an optometrist. This was after going thru a series of four brief tests with an assistant. I called my insurance company and the representative agreed it was not correct. The takeaway was not to go back again. Disappointing because the first time I was there the experience and care were terrific. Seems like they have new practitioners.

I've been getting my contact lens needs taken care of here for years. It's kind of expensive, but…read moreit's not a chain and I like their optometrists. They've got a good selection of frames too. And, if you're nice to them and you don't have insurance, I've found that they are usually willing to cut you some kind of deal so that you can work with them. It's nice.

One word: incompetent. The man who works the phone is…read morecalled Joe and he reminds me of someone's idiot cousin who should not be running anything, but gets promoted anyway. I've came here 2 years ago and this man quoted me three different prices for the exam, and then two different prices for the contacts even after he looked up my insurance. When I came to the store to pay, the price was different from all the other prices previously quoted. He's constantly losing materials, misplacing papers and health information. It took him an hour to search for my information, only not to find it. I chalked it up to laziness (on my part) and compassion that I would come back two years later and see if they improved. Ok- maybe if the man working the front is incompetent, it doesn't mean the ophthalmologist is an idiot too- right? Wrong. The ophthalmologist did the basic eye exam, subtracted a few steps, then read the number off one of my contact box. Then he tried to guess the other number from my other contact box. Isn't that the point of the exam? The eye doctor struck me as lazy: he didn't care if I got my contact lens prescription correct, he didn't care if we finished the complete exam. He didn't care if I understood his procedures, he didn't care if I sat and waited while he chit chatted with Joe about football, bbq and their spouses. Sure- you can chat about that stuff - but not when you told me to have a seat and I had to wait twenty minutes for you to finish. He didn't care if the way he got my contact lens prescription is akin to my five year old nephew repeating sesame street numbers. I am running to another ophthalmologist and I would advise you to do the same. Also, don't promote your idiot cousin.

I recently needed a pair of reading glasses because I was having trouble reading the small font on…read moremy phone. Finding a place that accepted Medicaid (HealthFirst) and still offered decent service, especially with stylish frame options, was a risky endeavor. Through Google reviews, I discovered Millenia Vision Optical. I appreciated learning it's a family-owned and operated business with a strong community involvement. However, my primary concern was getting a thorough eye exam, vision check, and, of course, a pair of attractive reading glasses (even though I wasn't thrilled about needing them in my 40s). Making an appointment on their website was a breeze. From the moment I received their appointment confirmation call, I could understand why they had so many 5-star reviews on Google. The staff was incredibly cordial and helpful! On March 28th, 2024, I checked in to see Dr. Nadezhda Belous (O.D.). While waiting, I inquired about the frame selection. Knowing I wouldn't choose the Medicaid-covered options, Ashly presented a fantastic array of frames I loved! They had a wide variety of fashionable and stunning frames (and sunglasses) from brands like Cartier, Ray-Ban, Prada, Gucci, Tom Ford, and more. I narrowed down my choices to a few just before being called in to see Dr. Belous. Dr. Belous was thorough in her exams. She explained my eye health, provided expert advice on managing my presbyopia, and patiently answered all my questions without rushing me. I felt confident and well-informed when I returned to the frame counter with my prescription. Now for the fun part (although ideally, I hope I won't need glasses at all after my PRK surgery, but such is life!). While I struggled with which frame to settle on, Ashley enlisted the help of Kelly, Maria, and Ayleen. I felt like I was surrounded by my BFFs and sisters, who were helping me pick out a husband. Their valuable feedback ultimately led me to a pair of Tom Fords that I absolutely adore! They even offered a no-interest installment plan to accommodate my needs. My glasses were ready for pickup exactly two weeks later, on April 11th, 2024. My reading glasses are a lifesaver! They minimize eye strain, especially with the blue light filter add-on, and they look fantastic on my face, not at all like a typical "assisted device." I'm incredibly grateful to the entire staff at Millenia Vision Optical for creating such a welcoming and positive experience. As long as I'm in NYC, I will definitely be back!
