My husband and I have been patients of Dr. Rhode at Eye Care Specialists for many years. Dr. Rhode did our cataract surgeries several years ago and our vision improved greatly. For the first time since third grade, I was able to see clearly without glasses - wow!! We both only need simple reading glasses for reading and close-up work. A few months ago I noticed peripheral blurriness. I immediately saw Dr. Rhode. He discovered that I had a rare pituitary adenoma -- (a tumor on the pituitary gland at the base of the brain was blocking the optic nerve and causing the blurriness). That was scary to hear!!! But the highly successful surgery to remove the tumor was done by two excellent specialists at Froedtert. I was home the next day with vision that cleared rapidly...no pain at any point and no visual evidence that I'd had any surgery! We can't say enough about the knowledge and professionalism of the doctors and the entire staff. And their BRAND NEW facility in West Allis is beautiful and well located. I wish I could give them more red stars! ********** read more

The ophthalmologists are good, the technical and reception staff are very good. There are three things I dislike about the place. The waiting area isn't big enough, there are often sick people waiting, and they overbook so I often have to wait. I don't like their billing system, I feel like they don't work hard enough to get money from my tightwad insurance company, but maybe that's the fault of my insurance. I'm not sure. The third thing is they just can't seem to make use of 21st century technology, they can't email, text, use Google Calendar. They insist on phone calls, voice mail, and faxes. I know they hide behind some excuse about HIPPA, but they are misinterpreting some old regulations from last century. read more

Watch out! They charge a $250 new patient fee! They do not disclose this and insurance does not cover it. Spoke to a very rude lady on the phone with billing who basicallh said I should have gone somewhere else then. That my doc said it was covered by my insurance but I should have done the research. Very very rude. I understand paying what was left from insurance but they should disclose the new patient fee when people come new. Wait was over a hr. The place is packed. The actual Dr. and nurse did a good j9b but count on a extra long wait. Will never go back due to the new patient fee. read more

Eye doctors are good, but office staff is condescending & dismissive. They wouldn't give my daughter an appointment so I ended up calling the West Allis location & that receptionist was very nice & scheduled her for the Wauwatosa office. Shouldn't have such an issue trying to schedule an appointment. I called today & was trying to see Dr. Paskowitz. Receptionist was only trying to fill cancelations & not happy that I couldn't make those appointments. She told me I needed to be seen right away for my issue even though I told her those dates & times would not work for me. Also, as others have stated, the wait times at appointments is ridiculously long. read more

I was there waiting for 2 hours and still hadn't been seen. When I complained the woman told me that I was warned the appointment would be 1.5 to 2 hours and shrugged it off. I left. Will never return. read more

Amazing is the only word for Eye Care Specialists and Dr Michael Raciti. I just had cataract surgery and I couldn't be more pleased with the whole procedure and the results. Everyone at Eye Care Specialists was exceptionally pleasant and caring. I would recommend Dr Raciti to anyone who needs eye care read more

I had a great experience. I came in contact with 6 different personnel and all were very pleasant and helpful. Nothing like the previous reviews indicated. read more

I had cataract surgery done in both eyes. Dr. Rhode did an excellent job and I now have 20/20 vision. However, every person in the office in the West Allis office is distant and rude. The questions I asked were brushed off as insignificant. I was very nervous about the procedure, so I had a lot of questions! My first surgery went very well and I was comfortably medicated. The second surgery did not go well. I was given half the amount of versed (2mg vs 4mg) and I never relaxed. I went into a frozen state bordering on panic and no one noticed that I needed help. This has left me traumatized. I informed everyone about this and again everyone brushed it off. When I went in for my follow up appointment, putting eye drops in my eyes caused a full blown panic attack. Again, no one cared! I am giving 2 stars because my eyesight is amazing. But in addition to paying for that, I have to now pay for trauma treatment. read more

The wait time is ridiculously long. I'm in for a normal eye exam and have been waiting for two hours! I will not be returning.

I liked Dr. Ferguson - he was friendly and took the time to explain everything. However, on my most recent (attempted) appointment, I arrived a few minutes early but couldn't find my insurance card. I went back out to my car to look more thoroughly through my wallet, found it, and went back. They said I was now 15 minutes late (their clock was at least 10 minutes fast) and I had to reschedule. This despite them being at least half an hour behind and apparently other people with my appointment time still waiting - maybe this is how they get rid of some of the some of the overbooked patients. Anyways, if they are going to be this demanding about the time, then I expect them to be on time also - my time is also worth something. read more

Poor customer service. Waited over 1 1/2 hours just to get in an exam room. Vision tests, etc. took over an hour, then just a brief visit with the doctor to examine my eyes. He was somewhat rude. Barely said a word. He acted like I was wasting his time with my questions. I will not go back, and I don't recommend this "specialist". read more

Had cataract surgery both eyes. Was told will have to come back and get adjustment. Did all of that and my sight was clearer before surgery'. The cost for both the surgery and the adjustment is outrageous. Seems all they are interested in is doing surgery. Was better off before cataract surgery. Look around get referrals from friends not reviews. Vision is something you do not want to lose. read more

I would not go here again. The customer service from scheduling through the visit left something to be desired. The doctor rushed us through the visit and left before he answered all our questions. Then we had to wait 5 minutes for the nurse to find him and bring him back. It felt like a factory. I do not recommend Eye Care Specialists. read more

They do a good job, but they are always over booked. Expect to have to wait a lot when you go there.

Worst eye exam experience I have ever had. Have worn glasses since 6th grade. When I called to make an appointment they were so rude I should have known it would get worse from there. My appt. took over 2 hours. When I called back because I was concerned there was a problem with my prescription and wanted to see the doctor again, the woman answering the phone just argued with me. I hung up in frustration. Don't go here, the customer service is the worst. read more

I knew that it was time to have cataract surgery when night driving was becoming a serious problem! A friend referred me to Eye Care Specialists and I was so pleased with the extra care and time they took in my initial eye examination through cataract surgeries and the follow-up care. Dr. Raciti and his medical staff have been outstanding in every way possible! The scheduling with Heidi who went above and beyond to make my appointments work and to help with Rx coverage. Medicare covered all the medical costs. Every staff member was very professional and considerate taking any question or concern as though I was the only patient in a very busy office. In particular, the surgical nurses were attentive, fun, and really well prepared to assure and help everyone in the surgical area. I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Raciti and his staff for any eye need and am thrilled to see better than I have in over 25 years! btw- Dr. Raciti is also an M.D. and looks like David Muir. read more
