Well, As we were…read moredriving home for Gulf Shores Alabama, we stopped for some subway in Baton Rouge. Anyway, about 30-40 minutes later a member of our car informed me, they really gotta go. And pulling over on the side of the highway wasn't gonna work ( unless you had a trash bag and 5 gallon bucket) - if you know what I mean. Anyway, this was the first Gas station we could get to in order to avoid an accident. Anyway, upon pulling up, I felt bad. Because on the outside it looked like they'd have to deal with dirty "facilities". After sometime, waiting... you know... they walk out the door all smiles and relieved. Not that they stomach didn't still bother them, but that 1) no accidents. 2) the "facilities" were super clean and they had high quality TP in charmin ultra! Anyway, folks inside were nice and it was connected to a small casino. Moral of the story, don't judge a book my the cover and if you need clean restroom outside Texas where buc'ees isn't available, well this is worth a shot.

I found this cute little station and convenient store just off the highway so I pulled in and filled the tank. The prices were extremely competitive and Exxon is definitely a brand I have come to trust. I love shopping these local independent businesses while traveling verses the larger national brands. The fuel island and pump equipment was well maintained which made for a great fueling experience - I did not need to go inside so I didn't have any interaction with the staff here but it's obvious from the exterior they really take pride in this business...

It's nice to see this place still up and running, especially with so many gas stations located at the interstate entrance, you wonder how they can all compete. I heard there's another one in development actually. But this one is definitely holding up! The prices were lower than the others, which shocked me. The worker inside was friendly, and the area is super safe. There are a variety of snacks and drinks and toiletries in case you need to do some small shopping. They have two types of ice (cubed and crushed), every single imaginable flavor of soda your heart desires, Icees, coffee (hot and cold), donuts, sandwiches, hot dogs with all the fixings and froyo with every topping you can think of. It's a one stop shop. It's on busy Ambassador Caf, but it's easy to get in and out of. I was here this week to fill up with Diet Coke and accidently dropped my lid in the trash while changing my straw. I had a bit of a panic attack thinking "what the hell am I going to do with no lid?" It's sort of my most prized possession at the moment and was a gift from my dad, so... Thankfully a guy working the counter saw my mistake and saw the look on my face and walked over, pulled out the bag and found my lid and handed it to me. Without a word. Wanted to hug him, but didn't. I just thanked him profusely. So yes, I'll continue to return to this Racetrac and y'all should too. Oh, and by the way? That refill was on the house.
