On the drive to College Station we sometimes take the back roads, and when you're just about to cross Interstate 10 in the middle of nowhere, you'll find this gas station which I thought would mean that they would have really cheap gas, but to be perfectly honest it was more expensive than the cheaper places down the road in Katy, and also more expensive than Buc-ee's. So I don't think there's anything really special about this gas station, except if you're about to run out of gas in the middle of nowhere about 10 miles west of Katy, then you'll be glad that it's here, and the convenience store of course is overpriced, but what do you expect from a Chevron.

This is a rural Chevron, a few miles out of the edge of the Houston area, right off of Interstate 10. I've used it on a couple of occasions when taking the back roads to College Station. Every single gas pump was taken; we had to park the car pretty far out in the lot. And inside was full of people. But wow! What an experience. I had seen videos of Buc-ee's but nothing can prepare you for being there in person. It is huge! And there is literally anything you could ever dream of. From houseware, to decor, to clothing, to camping supplies, to pool noodles, to grills, to animal toys, travel items, to literal cow hides! I was walking around just shocked. And then you get to the food area. Tons of flavors of beef jerky, candy, and popcorn. It goes on and on. It is definitely an experience. We left with a few items and no food since we had just eaten, but a time was had! Every employee we ran into was friendly and helpful. You could spend a ton of time in there and still miss something. So glad I got to finally experience a Buc-ee's!

I went back inside to ask for an itemized receipt and it rest that that the Pacifico came out to $25.99. That equates to $2.17 per beer. I asked to return everything and they told me the policy states they can't return alcohol nor nicotine products. I won't be shopping at this scam store anymore and I hope you won't either. Gas is competitively priced because there are gas stations on both sides of the interstate, and it is major brand gas, Exxon. There is a hot food place inside that seemingly serves fried chicken, various Mexican food staples, as well as donuts. None of this, to me, warrants this place getting a fourth star. I will eventually try that stuff, but for now, it held no importance to my soul! What made me give this place a fourth star? This slightly dingy convenient store did something special to earn this extra star? Yes they did. Lo and Behold, when walking through the front door, if you make a right turn, and go to the drink refrigerator all the way to the back...and view the drinks...there is love in the cooler. At first you will not see it. Those international brands have a way of making sure they get top billing and shelving. Look at the bottom of the refrigeration unit...magic happens...they sale Big Shot cold drink (Soda, cola, soft drink, insert your term here.)! Why is that important you may ask? Well, being a NOLA native, and considering that is a drink that is made in New Orleans, sometimes you just need a taste of home to get you by in the new land! I wish they had it in the 2 liter variety, but I will settle for 24 ounces love, $1 at a time! Multiple flavors of tongue love made a fat man happy! This alone will allow this place a forth star.
