Would absolutely recommend this business as they understood the unfortunate circumstance I was in and made me feel taken care of with urgency.

Dan is a great guy who knows what he is talking about, and his mechanics are pretty knowledgeable and kind as well. As a young woman who doesn't know much about cars, I'm always afraid of getting scammed and up-charged; with my luck some other numbnut mechanic out there would try to convince me to buy their "premium air"... I'm happy I found a place where I don't have to worry about that. If you want to patronize a knowledgeable business that practices honesty and integrity, go to La Barge's in Albany :)

Honestly, I was expecting a headache, but the team here was great. Dan and the guys upfront were super welcoming, kept me updated, and didn't try to upsell me on a million things I didn't need. Went to them to get the state inspection, oil change, and have my car engine light fixed and exhaust shield replaced. First problem. They said, we cannot take your car right now, come back in a week. I get promotional mailings from them regularly, and not a single one said - by appointment only. Their website does not say, by appointment only, either. The owner Timm Baldauf, however, told me that you usually need to call for an appointment a week ahead. Second problem. OK, I came back in a week. Left the car with them. They charged me for the repairs I did not authorize: rotating tires, replacing cabin filter and engine air filter - for the total of $150. They also charged me $174 for the just "diagnosis" of engine light, which takes all of 5 minutes. The owner Timm Baldauf claimed it takes him 1.5 hours to "diagnose" engine light. Third problem. They still did not repair the exhaust shield. In the beginning, they could not find the place where it fell off. Then they found the place, but could not repair it the same day. They told me they will give me a quote next day, but never called. A day later, when I called them to ask about the overcharging, they still did not know the price of the exhaust shield. The owner Timm Baldauf claimed, "he is waiting for the quote from Toyota"; I think he was lying because nowadays you can get the price online in minutes. After my request conversation, Timm Baldauf agreed to refund $100 in unauthorized repairs but refused to refund $174 for the "diagnosis" of the engine light claiming this to be the correct charge because it takes him 1.5 hour at $115 to diagnose the engine light.

And even though I ended up junking the car, they never charged me for the inspection. Once you go to Advanced Auto Repair, you can't go back. They're a breath of fresh air in service most people don't trust. Kudos! Five stars.

When it comes to car repair, You sometimes hear the refrain, "Don't go to the dealer!" Well if I…read moreknew then what I know now, I would have brought my RAV4 for service here long ago. The issue that brought me to Kinderhook Toyota was a rather challenging one involving the charcoal canister (part of the emissions system.) The faulty part would cause the Check Engine and 4WD lights to come on and stay on. I went through about five repair shops first, to no avail, before finally surrendering to the dealer! Within a couple days' time in their shop the situation appeared fixed. When the trouble lights reappeared, they honored the original job with additional warranty repair work. Evidently some filter, something that wasn't caught earlier, was allowing water to re-enter the canister and had to be replaced. They also replaced the canister one last time when the new filter went in. Problem solved. Even knowing I was receiving OEM parts and service by experienced Toyota repair techs, I was pleasantly surprised how reasonable the billing was for all the work. What's more, I had the same tech (Marco) for the entire time I brought the vehicle to the shop. Smart. Once we licked the canister issue, Marco made some valid recommendations for other service - all things this 2011 ride with 145k miles sorely needed. Shoutout to Sarah and the guys at the service desks. They're the face of the Company and always present themselves as competent professionals. I'm pretty set for now but I am more than happy to travel the 45 minutes from home to Kinderhook Toyota in Ghent NY for anything I need done on the car in the future. I trust them.

This is by far the worst Toyota dealership experience I have had in 26 years as a Toyota customer,…read moreand I have been to many. I came in for a simple replacement key for my RAV4. Three months later, I still do not have one, and I am still waiting on a refund check. Here is what happened: They programmed a new key, handed it to me, and I discovered right there in the parking lot that the remote did not work. When I pointed this out, they explained it away as a "bad key," which means they charged me for a key they knew was defective. They promised to reorder it and call me. They did not call. Two months passed before I finally scheduled another appointment. I drove in and was told they could not program anything because their internet was down and I would need to reschedule. They said they would call me. They did not. Then, on the day of the rescheduled appointment, they called to say the replacement key still had not arrived due to a FedEx delay. At no point in this entire ordeal did anyone from the office follow up as promised. Every single time, I had to call them. When I raised my frustration, staff were dismissive and deflected responsibility. One person casually mentioned that "70% of new keys can fail," as if that were an acceptable explanation for the situation. I finally gave up and canceled everything. They said a refund check was on its way. Two months later, no check, no call. The incompetence here runs from top to bottom, including management. I would not recommend this dealership to anyone.

They told my nope. My tires were good. Another routine service. The dealer said I needed new brakes. Labarges agreed, but half as expensive. Most recently. My fan was making a weird noise so I thought they might cover the repair since I was at 40k miles, just outside the warranty of course. They also noticed my state inspection was overdue. Had to pay the dealer a $189 "diagnostic fee" to discover it was just acorns clogging a filter so I needed a need filter and of courses the acorns removed. $21 for state inspection which is failed because I didn't realize this, but I had two chipped taillights (my daughter is 17 and I'll leave it at that) so I'm $250 into the dealer and they tell me it's another $700+ to repair the taillights. So I stop at Labarges. They tell me to go to a junk yard or eBay and order a left inner and a right outer tail light and they'll pop them in for me. $155 on eBay brand new. And I happened to have a slow leak so they said that the sensor is starting to go, it he cleaned it up, but the aluminum sensors are garbage so they wanted me I'll likely need to replace them eventually. Charge to replace the headlights, cleanup sensor, and repair slow leak. $50 because it took them 30 minutes to do all that work. They charge you for the time they spend. A novel thought no? For anyone looking for a mechanic, why go anywhere else? They saved me over $1,000 on my most recent visits from what the dealer wanted to charge me.
