Fantastic Brazilian Jiu Jitsu academy! I've trained BJJ for nearly a decade and have been lucky…read moreenough to attend several different schools across New York. I've learned to recognize great instruction and great instructors. Most recently I've had the pleasure of spending the summer training at Warcloud BJJ in Manlius. The owner, Professor Scott Schultz, is one of the most experienced BJJ black belts I've come across. He's learned from, and competed against, top names in BJJ and MMA. This includes several big names in UFC history. His instruction is top notch. He's an encyclopaedia of techniques. He points out all of the subtle details of each move and the way he 'flows' when demonstrating is so smooth. The academy itself is conveniently located, clean, and well equipped. The people that train there are all 'down to earth', good-natured, family-oriented, 'everyday' people. Several of the adult students also have their kids train in the kids classes. The academy has the perfect atmosphere to cater to both the everyday person looking to casually train or the competitor eager to up their game. On a personal note, I've found Professor Schultz to be an accommodating, understanding, humorous, caring, and all around good guy. He cares about each of his students, even the ones who walked through the door for the first time. If you're looking for a place to train in Fayetteville, Manlius or the neighboring towns, this is it.

I never write reviews but I need to in this case. Tai Kai is unlike a traditional gym, where you…read morepay your money, get your lessons or workout in, then go home. At Tai Kai you leave with so much more. Not only do you get top level training from the original BJJ school in CNY who has the most black belts around, but you also gain a new family, community, a home away from home where everybody knows your name (like Cheers, but without the alcohol). I couldn't be more sincere when I say you earn a new family. And this was evident when my 5 year old son (who also trained at Tai Kai) was diagnosed with brain cancer. Ken, the owner and my friend the past 10 years, put together a fund raiser at the gym to help raise money for my son and the upcoming medical costs. The turnout was huge and was more than I would've ever expected. Ken and everyone else at the gym checks on My son all the time, asking how he's doing and I wish I can bring him into the gym so he could get to see everyone who cares about him. Others had dropped of food for us, donated toys, clothes...etc to help relieve our burden. The 10 years I've spent training Jiu Jitsu, Muay Thai, boxing, and mma at Tai Kai; the blood and sweat, the physical rigors and soreness from a great workout....it's all been worth it to be able to be part of a family and community that had my back in the most difficult time of me and my family's life. Thank you Ken and Tai Kai for being the best around.

We ended up deciding on the JCC based on what we heard from others as well as the tour there, and are so happy that we did. My son's teachers keep us updated via the HiMama app throughout the day and are so caring and responsive to any questions or concerns. There are numerous outdoor play areas and the facility is very clean and organized. They have an excellent covid policy in place as well, which keeps the children and staff as safe as possible. We are also JCC fitness center members and enjoy the facilities, and we plan to look into the offered work out classes as well!
