They ONLY had about 12 pieces of furniture to move, and although not 'heirlooms', certainly, more care could of been taken. Owner comped me $75, saying he wasn't "sure" his guys did the damage Really? Three relatively new pieces ALL damaged on the UNWRAPPED portion discovered upon arrival at the new location? FAMILY MOVERS, a HUGE disappointment! We've moved 3x's in…read morethe past 2.5 yrs, & have a good bit of experience in the process. After purchasing our now forever home in White House, TN, we decided to hire a local full service moving company. The previous 2x's, we rented a large U-haul truck & hired U-haul's recommended co to handle the physical part of it. Both times, there were 2 men. Both times they did a fantastic job. Not a thing was broken or disturbed & the cost was very reasonable. Enter Family Movers - They recommended 3 men at a cost of $209 per hour + a $99 trip charge. It ended up being $1300 + to move us 9 blocks. (Twice the cost of U-haul.) It was a hot day (6/25/25), but we had cold bottles of water for the guys & the A/C on full blast. The load in was easy. 25' from our 1 story ranch to their old truck. One of the guys spent more time complaining & finding ways to stay inside where it was cool. We had some expensive pieces of furniture, I pointed out. One being a 150 yr old trunk from Europe that ultimately ended up getting tossed around, throwing the contents inside all around, breaking a delicate, decorative cover. Next, we caught one of their guys ROLLING our round leather ottoman full of priceless family keepsakes & photos out to the truck! As they finished unloading & were in a rush to get out the door, I asked them if they had re-hooked up our washer & dryer? They hadn't. (Should movers disconnect appliances, they're obligated to reconnect them). After they supposedly took care of reconnecting the washer & dryer, they left. The next day, we needed to do laundry. It turns out they ripped the end of the dryer vent hose & didn't take the extra 2 mins to place it back on correctly using a screwdriver to tighten the clamp on the hose. (our laundry room was completely wet). They also lost the clamp to the washer hose, and water FILLED our new laundry room! I contacted FM's boss, sent him photos & an explanation, but he blamed us!!! NEVER USE THEM!!!

I recommend that anyone considering this company read the owner's replies to poor Yelp reviews. You can see the amount of respect he has for customers. I reached out to Journeyman in a pinch on a Friday afternoon, after the moving company I had scheduled with goofed up their schedule and texted that they had no crew on Saturday to unload the 2 28' ABF trailers that were sitting in my driveway. The salesman said he had a crew in my area he could reach out to, and he said he would call me back. He called back shortly and let me know that they were available on Friday; in fact they'd had a cancellation in the area. Perfect! 3 guys showed up, and they worked their tails off. They unloaded 2 full trailers in about 5 hours. They even helped to move a refrigerator out of the house into the garage, and they assisted with hooking up the washer and dryer. Great crew. The problem came when it was time to pay. The owner said that I owed him 2 hours of travel time. I told him that I was not told about any travel time. I pulled up the quote from their text (picture attached; my personal info redacted by AI, no other changes made) where it shows estimated travel time of 0 hours. I sent a screenshot of that to the owner. He said "I don't know what you're trying to show me." I refused to pay for the travel time, and he did not charge me. However, he charged me a 4% credit card fee. That seemed high, so I researched it. Kentucky state law mandates a limit of 3% to any card processing fee passed on to a customer. I texted him and asked for a refund. He did so, with a screenshot of the refund. He did not apologize or have anything to say. Also, Kentucky state law mandates that the fee be disclosed on the final receipt. My receipt does not reflect that charge. I've filed a complaint with the Kentucky Attorney General for both of these items, which are a flagrant violation of state law. At the end of the day, the job got done. The crew was great, and they came through on short notice. Just keep an eye on your charges if you go with Journeyman, and know your rights.
