After barely a month in storing my stuff there I was warned by family and friends that these guys raise their rates monthly. I should've listened. After my 1st month in my unit had an attempted burglary someone broke my lock off and jammed the lever luckily they couldn't get in. The only positive is the manager Travis trying to make things right by moving me to a different unit however the company decided to raise every one's rates $60 more including mines. Really bad business to raise rates more so with someone that just moved in and attempted burglary. I moved to another storage company at the old Kmart location in which I found a lot more convenient and cheaper and they won't raise the rates on you every month. Extra space storage is losing customers to competition because of raising prices unexpectedly. read more

This place is the ABSOLUTE WORST. I have burglaries and units broken into literally every week. They change the rates without notice and bill me twice this month. I'm getting all my stuff out of there and going somewhere else.. there's no on scene security. There's no cameras in the hallways for the rate increase. Still no repair timeline, no retroactive adjustment, and no real resolution while customers continue paying premium "climate-controlled" rates. read more

Anyone thinking of renting here should be aware that there are no cameras within the buildings, just the outside. There have been break ins at the facility, no surprise because people have seen drink containers and food items in the hallways - maybe someone is living there? If you plan to rent, you may want to get two heavy duty locks and NOT depend on the ones the office sells. Staff is nice and friendly so no problem there. read more

While the facility is nice and clean, and the workers are nice, the place is NOT SAFE. They do not have cameras except near the entrance and exit, and there have been a number of break-ins and robberies of units. When the police came to investigate the break-in of our unit, it was the SECOND report that same DAY! They have not done anything to stop these break-ins either...and they don't, of course, warn you about it. read more

How do you waste $500+ a month? Get a 10' x 20' storage unit like we did. While it wasn't my decision, the spouse wanted to store crap, I mean treasures, here. They offer convenient drive-up units like we have or ones that you access via a hallway. All units are "climate controlled" meaning the building is air conditioned with the tops of the units open which lets in some conditioned air. While the drive-up units are convenient, it's annoying when neighboring unit owners are also there as vehicles can block unit doors due to the complex's layout. Gone are traditional padlocks to secure the unit doors, having been replaced by tubular keys & locks that need to be installed/changed by the office people. A former storage neighbor of ours mistakenly jammed their key into our unit and damaged it so we had to make a special trip to the office to arrange for a new lock and keys. Office staff have been friendly and helpful. TIP: Gate hours are 6a - 10p daily. OVERALL: Easy access via key-coded gates, well-kept facilities. What a lucrative business to be in! read more

He knew I did not need a unit right away but he did call and inquire on the status of our need, offering us new units that had become available. Setting up my storage unit over the phone was easy, and the person helping me was very friendly, knowledgable and patient. She also set me up with a really good discount ! Very affordable compared to other places I called. The facility is easy to find, access, is very clean and well lit. They have an employee that travels inter island for work who could attempt to practice more courtesy and good manners. Cutting people off in line while representing your company is not good appearances. Otherwise, used this unit in Kahului and it's okay. The layout isn't great when it's busy, especially if you are using a larger vehicle to move goods in and out. read more

I haven't needed a storage unit in a long time, but after helping my mom pack up and move from her house of 30 years, it seemed like a good time to invest in one again. We came down with no prior arrangements made as we wanted to see the options provided first. They have a variety of different size units to choose from. We went with a 3ft×6ft unit, which seemed appropriate for the amount of stuff we brought over. The helpful ladies working there told us we could switch to a bigger unit at any time easily if we need more space. Everything was handled, documents signed, in a matter of just a few minutes. We had our keys in hand quickly and the ladies were nice to take us by golf cart to our unit. I would recommend going with the temperature controlled units as it is getting hotter lately. There is AC and the stuff seems more secure as you have to walk through a hall to your unit. There's a key code for the gate which is pretty simple to remember. You can pay online or in person which is great. They're open til 10 nightly and you can drive all the way in towards your unit for convenience. Overall we had a good experience getting signed up and our stuff has been secure for about a month now. Affordable rates too compared to some others I've heard of. I would recommend this place if you're moving or just need extra storage space for whatever reason. There are insurance plans to protect from pests and other things too which are also very affordable. read more

We checked out of our condo in the morning and needed a place to store our luggage until our 9 pm flight. We didn't want to leave our luggage in our rental car while we went shopping. Found this place online and called them. The call was answered by their regional rep. They got my information and helped me make a reservation at their location closest to Kahului airport. Then the local office contacted me by phone, text, and email to follow up. They normally rent lockers by the month, but since there was a promotion for 1st month free, the cost was just the sign-up fee. The staff people were so friendly. They knew how to work their system and rates to give me the most reasonable rate for 1/2 day. Check-in was so easy. They treated me like I was their friend or neighbor that needed help. Later that day we just drove in, entered the gate code, accessed our locker, got our stuff and we were on our way. Thank you! read more

Listen - the rating has NOTHING to do with the service, the facility, or the location. Everything is top-notch, my single biggest gripe is the rent. It's high. But so is everything on the island. Doesn't make it right. I just decided to bump them up a star from 3 to 4 because I can't complain about them as a business, but the rent! It's more than 2-3 times the cost of Phoenix, Oakland, New Jersey, Dallas, and many other markets I store my business products in. That said: when my business returns to the island and I need storage, I'll come back here! I just wish my cost was down, so I could pass that savings on to my clients!! read more

When I've joined it looked great. Then, as soon as i left the island, they slapped me with a 25% MONTHLY FEES INCREASE (after joining with a special offer) saying it was a market adjustment. What a joke. After just 4 months from joining that's not an adjustment. That's MISLEADING ADVERTISEMENT. And of course they won't bother even reply to my questions. WARNING UPDATE: YOUR STUFF IS NOT SAFE HERE. Guess what? I've just got robbed! All my stuff gone, with my lock still perfectly closed and intact. FYI: security cams are only available on the parking lot, not inside. I gave the Manager the exact date, time and the description of the people (unit #740) that probably robbed me (they where next to me when I open my locker and they saw my combination number). Manager response: "I don't have time to look at the security cameras tapes"!?! NOTE: it's actually super fast & easy to pinpoint to the minute the exact time of when those people login/logout to their storage unit, and see the recording of what they did came in & out with!!! Extra Space Storage couldn't care less about you. They just want your money. Stay away from them. Worst service ever. read more

Staff are very friendly and courteous. If the rating was on staff alone, I would have given a 4. However, as I am partially handicapped, and for an upstairs unit. This would not have been so bad if it weren't for the fact that people are not allowed to ride in the lift. So, after putting my things in the lift, instead of going up the stairs right next to the lift where they should be, I had to exit the bldg, walk down the road to where the stairwell is, go up, walk passed my unit to the lift, etc etc... 1) VERY inconvenient. 2) If you are alone, it gives everyone quite the opportunity to wait for the lift, take things out, and be gone by the time one could walk the distance from the lift downstairs to the lift upstairs.. The reason I would have given a 4 instead of a 5 to the staff, when I returned to the office to inform them I was partially handicapped and it would be impossible for me to carry my things up the stairs and I would have to relinquish my unit back to them, rather than informing me there was a lift, she should have offered me a bottom unit. I had reserved my unit online and it doesn't offer options... All-n-all, my biggest complaint is that the stairs are way too far from the lift, and they should have better accommodations for handicapped.. I still thank the staff for being extremely courteous.... read more

Do not trust their rates, they got me in with a "web special", subsequently they've raised the rate 4 times in 1.5 years, up 50% now from when I got that ever so "special". They continually monitor competition rates, so that everybody can get equally screwed, with no added value. All scam, all the time. read more

Easy sign up. Facility safe and clean. I think we talked to all the gals there and found each one of them to be friendly and helpful. Easy to get in and out of - and the location is so convenient. I got around paying for their insurance by providing them a copy of my homeowners insurance which shows my possessions are insured where ever they are around the world. We had a few choices for storage in Kahului, but we chose extra space because we could book the storage units remotely without having to be on Maui to sign the rental agreement. We just went to the extra space near our former home in California and completed the transaction using DocuSign. Other facilities do not offer this option, and because of the shortage of large units on Maui we didn't feel comfortable waiting until we got here to find storage for our household goods scheduled to arrive a week later. We were lucky to get two 19x8 drive up lockers at extra space which made the move much easier. The trucker Matson hired parked our 40ft container in the street outside the facility and the movers we hired loaded smaller trucks that could be driven into the storage area for unloading into the lockers. The process went smoothly and took about 7hrs. The staff at extra space in Kahului are friendly and helpful. The facility is clean and secure. We don't have any reservations about recommending extra space to our friends and family. read more

This place is awesome! We came here on the suggestion of the Wailuku Inn because they don't have luggage storage at their inn. For about $25 for a day, we rented a small locker unit to store our two medium suitcases and 2 carry on bags on the day we were leaving Maui. It's right outside the airport so we could conveniently drop off our luggage for the day while we continued enjoying the island without having to worry about leaving our luggage in our open air jeep. read more

There isn't a lot of parking but I never have an issue when I stop by- there might be one other vehicle near me. There is parking close to my unit. The climate control works well. It's well-lit (in the hall only- not the units). Negatives- I believe as you rent your price is raised over time. I do know that the initial price you sign up under can vary greatly. It's strongly based on supply and demand so if you are getting a unit that is 1 of 10 available units (that are exactly the same) you will get a much better price than if you get the last one of that type of unit. read more
