Exstaza is one of the more affordable clothing shops in Soho. The store is actually quite large and if you head to the back you will find even more clothes. There is an inconspicuous security guard chillin in the corner, so shoplifters beware. You will be busted. Also, for some strange reason I could not figure out, Exstaza smelled like fresh baked cookies. So weird! I think the security guard was chowing down but I couldn't locate any evidence. Exstaza has similar merchandise to Forever 21 and Strawberry. If you need party clothes or something trendy that you won't mind falling apart by the time your late night ends, you can get some great deals here. I liked a lot of the stuff I saw at Exstaza. Definitely some great colors and patterns but definitely not friendly to the post pubescent body. I made the mistake of buying a long sleeved wrap shirt in a size medium without trying it on. The shirt looked big enough and since it was adjustable I figured it would fit. Unfortunately, the sleeves near burst when I tried it on at home. I haven't passed on this shirt to someone smaller than me yet. I'm holding on to the dream that I might fit into it after a few more runs around Lake Merritt. Ah, who am I joking? I'm 28 and I've got a chest and curves. I am never going to fit into the shirt I bought at Exstaza (insert sad face here). Inexpensive and trendy clothes, though I expect many items will not last beyond a season. You do get what you pay for! Still, a cute party dress for less than a couple of martinis? Score. While I am not a small woman--see the many food reviews!--I was able to find styles that fit even my frame. Salespeople were friendly. read more

First, the context: Walked in this past Sat morning with girlfriends without a single intention of buying anything (read: I buy clothes ONLY when they grab my eye, and I thought I had "enough"). Never REALLY shopped at Forever 21, but both are trendy so you could probably find similar styles in both stores. Observation: Definitely cute stuff throughout the store, but sizes are not necessarily consistent so must try it on for yourself. The line to the dressing rooms (3 in all) was lonnngggg but definitely try before you buy because the return policy is exchange only (also for store credit) within 14 days. The Experience: For fun, I tried on things that fitted and flattered...walked out with a belt wide belt w/ a rose on it($10!), a generic scarf ($10!), a dress ($20), a beach shirt ($18), and a jersey cardigan ($20). Also bought tights with holes throughout (hoochie alert!) but it was all very exciting and definitely made my day. Key reflection: Overall the store is a 3, but the rose belt and the jersey cardigan really added some va-va-voom to my wardrobe, and for that, I will give them a 4 for giving me some stylish threads for cheap. I also think the day lent itself well to shopping, so if you have some time to kill and want to hunt for somethin' cute / stylish, hit this up. Conclusion: I don't know if I'll regularly come back as I would to, say, Uniqlo. But now I know it's there, and when it's time for fall shopping, I may be back! read more

not really worth the trip.... again, seems like Necessary Clothing where most of the clothes are out of date and there's a cute top here and there. I don't understand why this place is so busy when Forever 21 is better. interestingly enough, I actually saw a top I had bought in California at a Korean shop for $11.99 and here the same exact top brand and style was $15.99.... maybe that's the NY price increase, hahaa. their shirts, pants, and dresses are ehhh as well. I sorta wanted to take a look at the shoes upstairs but after the disappointing array of clothes displayed on the floor, I couldn't manage to drag my tired self up the stairs! a lazy me day.... the vintage/printed tees are semi-cute but not worth the $19.99 price. read more

Good place to go to if you just wanna buy some cheaper clubbing dresses (since you prob won't wear it again). They also have some really good sun dresses too! :) :) read more

Okay, so my best friend and I wandered into this store after admiring something in the window. Not to sound snooty but we thought it was one of those cheap clothing stores with hoochie crap and nothing worth looking at beyond something to wear out to a club then throw out. WELL, were we wrong. after about an hour of grabbing almost every other thing off the rack we shoved our ways to the dressing room and each wound up buying something (i actually bought FOUR things). There's a lot of hidden treasures in here and stuff that you would actually find in dept stores for a lot more money. There's also some basic stuff that you probably search for at other stores but would never think to look here for (cardigans, wraps, etc). Don't be fooled - check it out! I love this store.. I went to this place near my house.. called Mixology I found the SAME SHIRT .. I spent about $50 on for $25 or less here. I went bananas!! I bought.. dress, 2 shirts and shoes $9 or 15 can'(shoes cheaper than I find in Burlington Coat Factory) under $75 I spent! You can find cute stuff from $4 to $30. I drove the poor girl crazy finding me boots in my size..but eventually was successful. I don't think I saw anything steep. Love the store! read more

I was very impressed with both the selection and quality of this store, especially given the prices. I bought a totally HOT dress here for $27- a silky, empire waist, almost kimono-looking number with sleeves cut out at the shoulder and a plunging V neckline just narrow enough to allow full coverage, but scandalously deep enough to be eye-catching. I wore it out on a Saturday night, and was picked up by an equally HOT guy. He turned out to be a jerk, but that is no reflection on the store or the dress. ;-) This place is a great find! read more

The price of all clothes are reasonable and acceptable as I am a college student. I was looking for a leather jacket right next door in Necessary, H&M and Forever 21, the prices were slightly high, which I considerate not the price for such jacket. So, I decided to check the Extaza next to Necessary. Wow! I was amazed that I found the exactly leather jacket, but with half of the price off!! It was on sale. The sale section was my favor and I undoubtedly bought two more jackets. read more

Trendy and Forever-21ish, but with more unique finds. I scored a lot of good deals from here for everyday/casual wear (but certainly not work attire). No complaints on the quality, either. Reasonable prices, cute stuff... highly recommend it for fashion conscious ladies who can't break the bank. read more

After stopping in Topshop, Bloomingdales, etc, I was looking for someplace to pick up a few options that were cheap, but still stylish. At Exstaza, I found three separate pieces for under $20 each. It's hard to even match that at Forever 21 or H&M. Definitely the place to find a party dress or fashionable knock-off. I will be sure to visit the next time in in the city. read more
