We really tried to give patience and grace however she crossed many lines the week of our wedding. Jennifer's professionalism and communication was not there: -She would take longer than two days to get back to us the week of the wedding for urgent questions and claimed that she is "too busy" - but she had enough time to post pictures of the flowers she bought for our wedding, as well as repost Taylor Swift's engagement on Instagram. Lady, you have time -Our first look photos were 2 hours before our church ceremony, and she said that she would not be able to deliver the bouquet and boutonnieres up to Inland Empire. She wanted me to ask our photographer who is local to OC bring the flowers - which is not his job. I ended up picking up the flowers the day before, had followed all instructions that she provided, and the flowers were not in good condition the morning of our wedding day. -I had told her multiple times that my family member would be making boutonnieres for the aunts/uncles which she okay'd. Before the evening reception, she threatened to take all of the flowers away because it was "breaching contract" and that my family was not allowed to make their own boutonnières. After we had showed her screenshots of the email exchange of our agreement, she backed off. -I had created a visual mockup of how we wanted our sweetheart table to look (flower meadow along with a sign of our last names). the day of, she took creative liberty and when told that the sweetheart table was not what I had specified, she said that "this is what the bride had wanted". After physically adjusting the sweetheart table myself during the room reveal, she finally adjusted things similar to the original mockup that i created for her, during cocktail hour. -during my husband and I's room reveal and private vow exchange, she lingered the whole time not to adjust the sweetheart table, but to take photos of us for her social media. it made us extremely uncomfortable and we had to ask staff to have her leave. -she delayed the time that our guests were allowed to enter the reception, because she was taking social media photos and videos for her personal use. -she had promised to have another boutonniere ready for my husband at the reception so that it would look fresh for reception photos - when we had asked her at the reception where the boutonniere was, she said that she "forgot to make one". My husband's best man was kind enough to give him his boutonnière instead. She came back after saying that she will make my husband's bout, but will not be making one for the best man that gave his bout away.

I contacted Melissa after seeing Honey Bear Events on a website of vendor recommendations, but I had no idea that I would be meeting my literal dream wedding planner. Melissa came into my wedding planning process after we had another planner quit on us. While it was easy to initially feel embarrassed, Melissa made me realize this wasn't about us at all and the previous planner had her own issues that we could do nothing about. It was a blessing in disguise as I transformed from stressed about planning to EXCITED to be wedding planning with Melissa as my planner!!! She immediately made me feel comfortable and that I could trust her with all the tiny little details floating around my brain. When Melissa and I started working together, I was living in Boston planning my wedding that would take place in Santa Barbara the next summer. Melissa was so accommodating with my schedule and when we would talk on the phone I knew I could talk to her for hours in one go and feel so incredibly relieved after. I did the Full-Service planning package with her and she was so amazing at providing suggestions for vendors, setting up calls with them for me, and getting their pricing together, so that I could have a productive call with them. She would also prepare PowerPoint slides of my design vision that she would share with them on the call, so we could make sure they were on the same page about what I wanted my dream wedding to look like. One vendor in particular that Melissa found for me and was absolutely amazing was Pratto Paper Company. Lauren Pratto was an absolute pleasure to work with when designing my wedding invitations, day-of-stationary, and signage for the wedding day! Melissa went way above and beyond to create my vision of a mirror seating chart by working with Lauren and another vendor to build 3 giant mirrors that could stand on their own and then had Lauren apply the names in vinyl to the mirrors. I was BLOWN AWAY with how much Melissa CARED about my wedding and it really felt like she was just as invested in making my dream come true. Something I was looking for in a planner was someone who would communicate with family members that were helping with some of the wedding events/finances/etc. Melissa made me feel so at ease and handled these conversations like a breeze throughout the wedding planning process. She worked with my mother-in-law to plan a BEAUTIFUL rehearsal dinner with the most GORGEOUS FLORALS from Honey Bear Events. She worked with us to ensure all our deadlines were met and leading up to the last 2 weeks before the wedding, I didn't feel stressed at all like I imagined I would. Everything was taken care of and if it hadn't been, I knew Melissa had a handle on it. As we approached the wedding day, I loved that Melissa was my SUPERWOMAN. She immediately went to bat with the hotel when they tried to put me in a different bridal suite than what was initially discussed. She never showed me any stress she was under and made sure Kevin and I were having the BEST TIME! Everything flowed so well from the moment we stepped into the hotel on Friday. On Saturday morning (Wedding Day), Melissa had her assistant bring us bagels and ordered us coffee and juice to our bridal suite. She had already set-up a group text with my maids-of-honor to communicate with them the day of, and she was fully on top of all the vendors arriving for a 5-6am set-up time! Throughout the day she would come check-in on me, make sure I was eating, and again never made me feel like there was anything going wrong outside (a week later I would find out the hotel was a mess to work with). She and I are VERY DETAILED people and I can tell you that there was not a single detail forgotten that day. Melissa was there all the way until the last vendor left and we caught her when we were coming back from our afterparty. I wanted to give her the biggest hug and cry! She was the angel in my head that created the most STUNNING wedding I could have ever imagined. Initially, my wife and I didn't believe we would be able to locate a wedding venue to move forward with our vision for an intimate and whimsical wedding aesthetic. So much so that we were a hair trigger away from eloping. Thankfully, as a final measure, we decided to create a checklist of required items that a wedding venue had to have for us to consider moving forward with a wedding including but not limited to; 1) an organic set of barebones / overall aesthetic that would pair well with a playful and lighthearted whimsical evening themed wedding aesthetic that in no way resembled the typical cookie cutter wedding 2) efficiently organized with strong vendor relations and/or recommendations, and 3) cost effective in the context of a smaller guest list of about 70. From the thoughtfully salvaged bricks from a to-be torn down structure in Europe that made up the archways of the reception area to the beautiful garden area rich with lush plants flowers nestled cozily between the ceremony and reception areas, the Chapel of Orange had checked off every box we had without us having to compromise. The well oiled machine that was Melissa and Cheryl far fostered a positive wedding planning experience as they handled EVERYTHING in such an unflappable manner. In addition to coordinating and scheduling design appointments, Melissa coordinated the vendors running their part correctly from the florist, to the videographer, to the Photo Booth, to the DJ, to the caterer, to the cake designer, and all the way down the list to the highly talented photographer Ashley Paige. Melissa also gave us a month by month wedding checklist to follow along to at the very start which made the ongoing planning process easy to follow while also simultaneously reducing any wedding related anxiety stemming from the feeling that we had forgotten some important detail along the way. Melissa's incredibly consistent and reliable communication as well as clear direction cut any unnecessary internal and external noise that went into the wedding process. Dates for big decisions such as our food tasting, table design, and final rehearsal were planned well in advance, allowing us to do nothing more than be present and direct the final decisions. Additionally, Melissa facilitated for the florist consult date and the DJ online phone meeting to verify lighting and song choices. The day of rehearsal, we dropped off all our supplemental DIY designs for our themed wedding and Melissa handled the rest of set-up. The day of the wedding was smooth like butter; Melissa had... 1) our parking spaces reserved with bright orange cones for us as well members of the wedding party, 2) boutonnieres ready and pinned members of the wedding party as they arrived 3) both the groom and bride's prep rooms staged and ready to go, 4) and all vendors on standby and ready for instruction. I have no doubt that Melissa handled so many more fires behind the scenes as my wife and I didn't have a single hiccup or moment where we had to step away to address a concern. It was marvelous, and the best day of our lives. TLDR: The Chapel of Orange runs like a well cared for and harmonious machine headed by Melissa and Cheryl. At each step of the way, they took the feedback we had the day of our wedding, executed the upper limit of potential we had for our whimsical garden wedding.

They were provided very detailed instructions for everything that day. They did not have enough chairs at the ceremony, did not pick up around the area where my bride and I stood for the ceremony so I had to pick up trash and tools and throw them to the side, seating assignments were incorrect so I had to tell them to fix them, one of them was standing in the background of every photo and video from our grand entrance, and they failed to load our wedding cake at the end of the night (so much for enjoying that on out one year wedding anniversary). They have since not returned any calls or texts. I called them Friday and they told me I had the wrong number and hung up on me, even though the number I called was from their contact details. I would not recommend them to anyone.

What really stood out was how much she cared--Kimberly treated our wedding like it was her own. She came prepared with solutions to any issues that came up and always kept our budget in mind. Her suggestions were always thoughtful and curated towards what she knew about us as a couple. She never suggested or pressured us to go in any specific direction, and wanted to always make us feel comfortable in our choice. If there was any opportunity for her to alleviate our stress or take some coordination/work off our plate, she always offered to step in and take over. She truly went above and beyond every step of the way. On the day of - Kimberly ran the entire show seamlessly.
