They greeted us when we walked in and even though it took awhile to speak with someone, they thanked us for our patience and told us someone would be with us momentarily. Those types of things are very important. After speaking with someone about an issue I had with another tire store, they even apologized for my negative experience. I also noticed, the store was well kept, bright, and inviting. Just based on my customer service experience alone, I would definitely recommend Discount Tire.

My friend was driving us back to work from lunch when a battery light appeared on her dashboard…read more Since she just replaced her battery I thought it might be her alternator so I called tire discounters to see if this was a service they offered and the guy said Yes! So as soon as we got off work we went to the place she bought her battery to get a diagnostic reading which stated "bad charging system". Luckily, we were next door to Tire Discounters so we rushed over to see if they could replace her alternator that night because she lives almost an hour from this area and didn't feel confident she'd make it home. We walk in with a new alternator and ask if they can replace it. One guy said they could replace it but it wouldnt be tonight since it was about 5:15 and they close at 6pm. We understood but felt so defeated. I asked if they thought she'd make it to Scottsboro with a bad alternator and one guy said not likely. the other guy, Jacob, said he would go check her output to see what the reading was to help gauge whether or not she should attempt the long commute. once Jacob got the reading he began looking for her alternator to see how hard it would be to get to. After he assessed everything he said he wanted to go ask the other guy a question real quick so we followed him inside. After Jacob spoke to the other guy, he came to the counter and said he was going to put the new one on and said it will be done around 6pm. Jacob went above and beyond to make sure my friend made it back home that night. He was kind, courteous, and fast. Jacob didn't have to do what he did, especially being as close to closing time as it was, but he took great care of us! GO SEE JACOB!

I had visited two other places in Athens and no one could assist but wanted to sell me a replacement tire for $320.00 and keep vehicle till Monday. My car was riding rough after that so I took it back to Mavis and they checked the wheel balance and sure enough the weights were missing. Pricing was insanely competitive, and Chris even worked his magic to knock some extra off, because having your alternator go out on a Wednesday isn't fun for anyone's bank account in this economy. They pushed to get my car done quickly so I could pick my son up on time from school- and even had a mechanic pause his work to drive me up the road to my house so I could eat and get our second vehicle in case they ran over with the repair. These men never once made me feel like a burden and helped me with a smile, explained pricing to me in a way that felt educational, every employee was kind and generous in going above and beyond to have my car repaired and me as a customer and person taken care of. Turned out that the leak was too close to the edge of the tire for them to fix. But they were happy to sell me two new tires instead. I took my tire to Used Car World and in less than 10 minutes, I was on my way with my tire repaired. The second time, there was an object in the middle of the tread and not having learned my lesson, I went to the large chain again. This time the hole was too large but they would be happy to sell me two new tires...I took that tire to Used Tire World as well and again, I was on my way in 10 minutes or so. Now anytime I have a flat, a small leak, or even a question about my tires, I take it to Used Tire World. And they don't do repairs if it might be a safety hazard. Once I took a tire with a slow leak to them and they showed me how low my tread had become. They recommended I go and get new tires. This time recommending new tires was justified! The large chains no longer plug tires but that means tires that are repairable cannot be repaired. I've heard all the talk saying a plug is a temporary fix and a patch (used by most large chains including the one I visited) is the best way to get a long term repair. But it is limited in size and placement and sometimes you don't want, or can't afford, to have to buy new tires. And at 60 years old, I have not have a plug fail (knock on wood!). I trust Used Tire World to tell me if a plug would be a hazard to my safety and they are my go to-tire repair business!

Just finished another service with this shop. Met with professional & courteous staff as usual…read more However, I did notice they have no chairs available behind the counter for the staff to sit. I appreciate TD tries to make the store environment as much customer friendly as possible. However, taking care of your employees is equally important. I just don't see the necessity for you to make your employees/manager stand there whole day while you could just provide couple of chairs for them to sit once a while. As a veteran, I know how this could cause chronic back problems if you stand like that day in and day out. Your workers are your most valuable assets. Please take care of them. Thanks.
