Needed 5 interior office doors relayed to same lock/key. Man showed up and the first sign that I should have turned him away was that his pants were unzipped and he obviously was not wearing underwear. I had to tell him to zip it up - to which he seemed to find humor in.
Having no knowledge of locksmith fees, and assuming that the secretary had comparison shopped, I paid the $514 bill. $89 per door and $69 service call. The work was done and not much I could do after the fact. Additionally, the secretary received a phone call questioning the amount billed. Asked if it was correct.
We are going to need 5 additional doors rekeyed in January. I called a truly local locksmith, $152.50 total bill. I called Express Locksmith, didn't tell them about previous service, asked for the estimate on 5 doors and was told $264+ tax.
So far I have not been able to get an explanation from the company on this billing variance. I am supposed to get a detailed bill and a call from management....no email yet and waiting on call. I highly suggest using a local locksmith and not some company from anywhere USA that then contracts out to some unknown person in the area. Oh, and provide clear guidance to an employee that is making arrangements. Never again! read more
