We hired express home improvements to renovate our master bathroom. After a lot of discussion and mulling over our decision, we signed the contract in early May. Work began in June and at first the project was going very smoothly. Our bathroom was a complex job that required basically a full gut job, including reframing to support the floor. The finish work completely ruined the bathroom that we had spent close to 40k on. The tile work was an absolute nightmare and overall it was horribly sloppy. Many of the tiles were laid unevenly which created uneven edges that didn't retain grout the way flat tile should. It was apparent that they ran out of grout at some point and instead of mixing up another bag (that we paid for and was on site) they decided to try to fill the low spots in with caulking. Which at first wasn't noticeable, however when everything dried, they were two completely different colors. In addition to this, the tile in our shower floor was not properly sloped. This is allowing water to pool in the corner rather than flowing toward the drain. The caulking was horrible. Above the tub the caulk was completely smeared (black) all over the wall, and many other spots were incompletely sealed or cracked. They installed a metal end cap where the tile stopped and didn't fill in the space between the tile and the metal end cap. On top of all of this, they left my ceiling open in the shower and the drywall guy "quit" so instead of finishing the job, they offered to take off 600$ from the price. When I asked them to come back to fix the caulking and fill in the grout that needed to be fixed. (Really I should have made them retile the whole thing) they couldn't even be bothered to do that. He actually had the audacity to say " well these are just cosmetic issues, they won't effect the ability to use the shower"... I was stunned. I don't care if it's cosmetic or not. We paid for a job to be done and it was not done well. Obviously the subcontractors he uses are not reputable or reliable. In addition to the sloppy work, the tile subcontractors were pigs. On 3 separate occasions they left entire boxes of pizza in my bedroom, didn't clean up after themselves, left fast food trash all over my yard, etc. I am so so disappointed with how our project turned out. The cherry on top of everything is that one of my husband's decently expensive tools was "probably accidentally packed up with the tile guys' tools" which was never returned. I am actually sick over how much money we spent for a poorly finished project that was never even completed. I would not recommend this company to anyone. I feel that he really took advantage of us. I still have garbage in my yard from the project that I have contacted him to pick up and he has ghosted me. read more
