About 3-4 weeks ago, my mom leased a new vehicle and clearly told the salesperson, Jorge Gonzalez, that she did not have money for a down payment. They agreed on a monthly payment, she signed the paperwork, and drove away believing everything was finalized. A few weeks later, she received statements for two Toyota credit card accounts that had been opened in her name without her knowledge or authorization. The available credit on those accounts was used toward a $7,000 down payment on the vehicle. When she questioned the $7,000 down payment, she was told it would be covered by "Toyota incentives." At no point was she informed that credit cards would be opened in her name or that they would be used as part of the transaction. Today, the dealership's response was simply that she signed the contract and agreed to the terms. We strongly disagree. Consumers deserve to fully understand what they are signing and should never discover weeks later that additional credit accounts were opened in their name. We have filed complaints with the CFPB, the Florida Attorney General, Toyota Corporate, and the Better Business Bureau, and are pursuing additional remedies. Please review all documents carefully before signing and monitor your credit reports after purchasing or leasing a vehicle. If anyone else has experienced something similar, I would appreciate hearing from you.

I don't believe there are any other stores (in the world?) that combine vintage cars and vintage guitars under one roof, but I always thought they were similar in spirit. When I bought my Dakota red telecaster from 1965, I admit that I also pictured a Dakota red classic Mustang from a similar era. I was actually in the market for a new acoustic and with the help of Jeff, tried a number of the new guitars for sale. I didn't buy one that day because I was still looking and visiting stores in south Florida. I think more than any purchase, you have to physically play a guitar to see if it fits you and the sound is appealing. I suppose a lot of people collect guitars without the intent to play them and that's fine, too. The cars are pretty impressive - reminded me of James Bond movies. And the wide range of electric and acoustic guitars are equally impressive; every one of the them has a story to tell. They also sell used and new amplifiers and other merch (including a Cafe!); I'm thinking of bringing in my amplifier for consignment.

Yeah, that escalated quickly. Then they throw in collectible vinyl just to really test your self-control. Come on now. I also like the concept of being able to sell or buy a car in a retail store rather than having to go to a state licensed automotive dealership. Matter of fact, after seeing Tesla's set up and retail operation, I would really tend to have a take a lot of exceptions all of Florida's rather archaic six class dealership licensing structure. It would also seem to me that the opposition by these dealerships against Tesla's operations are motivated not in the interests of the consumer but in selfish self-interests with little other purpose or intent than to stifle market competition. That aside, and though I have visited big and better set up Tesla stores, this one is pretty nice and their vehicle product, though not suited to my needs, of the highest quality of an automotive product I've ever seen. The sales staff is well informed, exceptionally polite and not in the least bit pushy or abrasively aggressive are those of the sales staff one commonly encounters at franchised automotive dealerships.
