We were in town from upstate New York for the Oceans Calling Festival, which unfortunately got canceled, so we decided to make the best of it and get some tattoos! We found Explosive Tattoo in Salisbury and couldn't have been happier with our experience. We were a walk-in group of four. Cole tattooed my sister-in-law and me, and Robbi tattooed my brother and my husband. Both guys were super professional, friendly, and did an awesome job! We're all really happy with how our tattoos turned out. The shop was really clean and in great condition, and everyone made us feel comfortable. We honestly couldn't have asked for a better experience, especially since our original plans fell through. We're glad we found this place and would definitely recommend Explosive Tattoo! If we're ever back in the area, we'll definitely stop in again! read more

I've been to numerous tat shops over the years and I can tell you that this place was outstanding! Between Al, the front desk guy, and our artist Erick the experience was remarkable! We were a walk in and Al helped us with lettering, gave us an amazing price, and then Erick did the art in under 3 hours!!! We also saw several pieces from the other artists who are equally amazing!!! Do yourself a favor, stop looking, and make this your tattoo shop for life!! #worththe2hrdrive!! read more

I was very disappointed in this place. I had daith piercing in both ears done there over 6 years ago. Never a problem until recently when one of the balls came and I went in had had my earrings replaced and not only was I overcharged forbthe earrings but they fell out 2 more times. I was told if I had anymore problems that Mike would be happy to put others in. Well both fell out on New years day and when I went back after trying to get in for several days I was was told that I would have to pay $60 per ear to have them repierced because they had closed up. He never looked or tried to to see if they were. I left and went to another place. Guess what? They hadn't closed up. They are a rip off.they read more

Both tattoos i've had done here have been amazing. Most recently, i had one done on my rib cage (definitely the biggest tat i have) by Robbi. He was so friendly and quick! I was surprised how quick i was in and out... and it looks beyond amazing. Their staff is wonderful read more

This place is sooooo dope! Everyone looks bad ass but at the same time they're helpful and nice. It's probably the BEST tattoo shop I've been to. No facades and no pretension. I got my elbow tattoo from Alex and I love his work. I'm going back for more! =) read more

These guys are very professional. Pleasant atmosphere. The tattoo I got has alot of meaning to me and JJ hit this one out of the ball park. His creation touched my heart and soul. Believe I will be back . I have some fixing to get done. Rock on. read more

First tattoo was done here. Done by Fil Ponte. Super kind guy who listened to me ramble nervously as he worked and he did an amazing job. They're fairly priced too it isn't an arm and a leg and it's clean work in a nicely lit area. The people there are really chill and relaxed, which helps the atmosphere. They have really nice music even playing in the background to help just create a calm environment which is great for someone being incredibly nervous about their first one. I definitely recommend coming here read more

I have 16 ear piercings, give or take, which I have had for years. The jewelry needs to be cleaned or replaced periodically. The jewelry in the forward helix area is difficult to remove and replace by myself, and I end up irritating my piercings. I stopped in randomly one day and was very impressed by the professionalism of the piercer. My ears are a high maintenance situation, but he carefully changes out my jewels and has redone an old piercing that had healed in a way that was not quite what I wanted. I've been back a couple of times since, and the price for having jewelry changed is very reasonable. Ten bucks is more than worth not enduring the hour of total frustration it takes to change them on my own, not to mention risking irritation or infection. read more

Great atmosphere, customer service, and overall quality. Had a walk-in with Fil and he was able to sketch exactly what I had in mind and did it for cheaper than I expected. The location is extremely convenient for college students only being roughly 10 minutes away. I will definitely be going back for my next tattoo! read more

Ive gotten all my tattoos from here, Robbie McKee and Alex Rice kill it!! Remember, good tattoos aren't cheap and cheap tattoos aren't good!

I got my nose pierced here. All employees were super kind and the guy who did my piercing did a great job and it went super smoothly. The only reason I didn't give them five stars is because in hind-sight I wish I knew what size needle was used to do the piercing so I could order some more jewelry. I will probably try and call them at some point to see if they can tell me what size jewelry to order. To clarify it might not seem like the biggest deal, just wish I was given this information the day I had the piercing done so I had it for the future. if anyone in the reviews here happens to have gotten their nose pierced here and knows what size jewelry is used let me know. read more

I got my rook piercing here, I went running that night and the ball used as a backing fell out not even a minute into it, I was very upset bc I only had the piercing for a few hours before this happened. I thought this was normal and I would just return to the shop the next day for a new backing. However the piercer was off so I went to Crucial as I was going out of town the next day and needed the issue to be handled immediately. The piercer at Crucial (who has done 6 piercings for me with no complications) took one look at my rook piercing and almost visibly cringed, she noticed I was swelling almost completely over where the ball should have been entirely. She decided to change out the jewelry for a longer one to allow for easier healing and room for swelling. BUT she couldn't get the ring in because the piercer here had done it completely crooked and I almost passed out from the pain of her attempting multiple times at different angles! She also told me that the ball should not have come off the same day regardless of my running and headphones. I will never come back here. read more

I had an awesome experience at Explosive Tattoo! Trevor Howeth took the time to plan two small tattoos that meant a lot to me when a couple other area tattoo shops didn't seem like they wanted to 'waste their time'. I highly recommend him and the shop! Great tattoos and awesome people! read more

Robbi at Explosive is now the only artist I will allow to tattoo me. If you want big, bold color... Go see Robbi. My dad and I have been tattooed by Robbi and love our ink. My daughters have been tattooed by other artists at this shop and all their tats are amazing too. You can not go wrong if you to these guys. read more

Don't bother! The staff is very nice, but the two times I've been they have rushed! I got my tongue pierced there, and the woman doing it didn't even mark it, or ask if it was a good spot... She just did it. Then I was dumb enough to go back and get a tattoo, it's terrible!!! I want it removed so bad.. I went back to get it touched up, as they said it was "free" and they told me that it looked fine and they wouldn't touch it.. GO TO CRUCIAL! read more

I went in to get a small tattoo with my little brother. Trevor was the artist. He was quite pleasant and "guaranteed" his work. When the tattoo healed, I noticed that the bottom part of my tattoo was completely asymmetrical. I went in to voice my concerns ,and not only was told that tattoos weren't meant to be looked at up close, I was also told that I shouldn't be tattooed by anyone, because apparently, I was "nit-picking". I wasn't being rude, merely letting them know I wasn't happy. In light of being insulted, I left, and came back on a day when Trevor would be in. Based on what the guy I talked to the first day said to Trevor, he was already on their side and told me that the tattoo was solid...which, it isn't. I would highly recommend staying away from this establishment, unless you're into getting "guaranteed" poor work, and being insulted when you bring up what's bothering you. Regardless of liking or not liking the subject matter, or how big the job, these things are on people for life, and one would expect quality work. This was very unprofessional, and no matter what these guys seem to think, symmetry is IMPORTANT. It looks as if he said: well, it's just a small, cheap tattoo...I don't care, and did whatever quickly. The result is a poorly done tattoo. Never again. They don't seem to care about the quality of the tattoo, nor the person they are putting the tattoo on. read more
