They are all nice at first but the second you seem uncomfortable or dissatisfied, they blow up in your face as if it were your fault they did such a bad job. Literally was in the chair for 5+ hours for a simple highlight and blowdry. I will never be going back. I showed him 5x an exact picture of what I wanted and stepped out (because of frustration not because i was satisfied) with an entirely diff hairdo. I hate it. Hated the staff. And hated the unprofessionalism. If I could rate zero stars I would.

After over 3 hours in the chair, the result was extremely disappointing. The color was yellow, uneven, spotty, with visible lines and color bleeding throughout. The haircut itself was also poorly executed and lacked basic balance and refinement. For transparency, I am a licensed cosmetologist (state of CA), though I do not currently practice behind the chair. With that background, it was clear to me that fundamental techniques--such as proper sectioning, saturation, and control--were not applied. This was not a matter of personal preference or tone choice, but of execution. I chose not to return for a correction, as I did not feel confident the work could be properly fixed at that salon. The only positive is that my hair was not damaged or broken, but unfortunately that is where the positives end. This was my first salon experience in New Jersey, and it was an unfortunate one. I hope this feedback is taken constructively, as clients trust salons with something very personal, and the results should reflect professional standards. I took the following day, washed my hair to see the real damage and corrected the best I could. Thank god I have access to salon tools. The appointment confirmation listed the time frame as 5:00-5:45 pm, but I decided to allot more than twice that amount of time to ensure that I would make it to my work event at 7:00 that evening. Unfortunately, the start time and timeframe given by the salon turned out to be meaningless. Although I arrived on time, after an initial check in, no one spoke to me for another 45 MINUTES. When I was finally able to speak with Aaliyah's assistant, I asked how long the process would take because I now needed to leave in about an hour. I was then told *for the first time* that all new clients who wanted a silk press needed to receive two preliminary treatments, which each had their own added cost and added 20-30 minute timeframes. As a result, the appointment would take several hours (and cost significantly more). The assistant claimed this information was on the website (more on that later). Needless to say, I could not get my hair done under those circumstances. Not only had the salon wasted my time but it had also left me scrambling to make my hair presentable for the plans I had that evening. Aaliyah may do great hair, I don't know. But this is no way to do business. People with appointments should not be waiting 45 minutes to be seen. And if you are requiring new clients to receive certain treatments in addition to what they have actually requested, state those requirements, timeframes, and costs openly and clearly. Don't bury vague language under a tab people may never even click on (see photos). This way your clients will know what they're signing up for and can plan accordingly.

Though this place had only one sole review, it was still a 5 star review. Regardless, it was still the only place in EO that offers a silk press and silk wrap. Made an appointment for 9:30 and when I arrived, there was one young woman who introduced herself as Aaliyah, owner, stylist and style educator. We did a 15 minute consultation as promised and then ran through which treatments I would be receiving today. She's a young entrepreneur who sells her own homemade products and uses them on you as well. She did an anti breakage treatment, deep conditioning, trim and silk press. We hit it off and it felt nice to be privately attended to. Private meaning, this is an appointment based salon with one to one services. The salon in itself is beautiful. Black, gold and white. Very sparkly because, you know, girls lol. I loved it. I was very happy with my results because being mixed, my hair isn't easy to deal with. Never ran into a beautician who didn't mumble WTF at least once during my visit. I left very satisfied with moisturized hair cut into beautiful layers. My second appointment is already booked and I am grateful Yelp didn't steer me wrong. I've been looking for someone who not only cares about the style, but the health of my hair as well. I'm happy to be working with Mrs. Aaliyah. Hey, a private salon doesn't hurt either. An introvert win win!!

She takes her time when coloring my hair and really has great skill. This time I wanted to go back to my natural color and get front bangs as well and she did an amazing job!! Dana really took her time to make sure it was the color I wanted and that would look good with my skin tone, and she used the reference photos I had for the cut. I am soo happy with my hair and I receive a lot of compliments on it :) The price is very fair and the salon is cute and very clean.
