Main room featuring a variety of play houses and other hands-on games, toys, and activities

Absolute gem! Stumbled across the yelp page looking for a fun kids activity near Pismo Beach to entertain my 4 year old son and decided to check it out. Amazing! There are tons of different hands-on activities for the kids, including: legos & tinker toys, play houses, play kitchens, arts & crafts, a huge front patio with cars (some motorized, some manual) / water tables / bubbles and an even bigger back patio complete with a 2-story fortress, music hut with real drums / guitars / keys, a digging area, functioning aquaponic garden, and a whole lot more tucked in here/there/everywhere. Go check this place out! Perfect for the 2-5 year old demographic, workable for those slightly older or slightly younger too, and you'll need at least a couple of hours (and could spend all day). They give ins/outs also so you can grab lunch nearby and circle back for round 2 (pro tip: take your food to go and dine al beach-o!).

We especially liked that the different floors and outside area had different learning/playing opportunities. I appreciated the science, career, and pretend play opportunities. Entrance is I believe $10 per adult and kids, and toddlers under 2 are free! The museum is 3 stories. First story is geared more towards sciency and architectural exhibits. There was lots of space for my toddler to explore and walk around. The second story was our favorite. It was a whole make believe little city with its own version of the "gum wall alley". My toddler loved the make believe restaurant and kitchen. There was plenty of space for all the toddlers and kids to play around, along with the adults. The third story was a smaller room, but also fun with more toys and trinkets. There was also an outdoor space for snack time and taking break, and what looked like a big water table with a big rubber duckie! Overall, such a fun experience, and a great way to burn off your toddler's energy. We spent around 1.5 hours in the museum. We can't wait to go back again and to see how different my toddler will be then since he is still learning and growing.

Every exhibit actually keeps them engaged not just looking, but doing. The interactive tables (like the spinning drum and dice games) were a hit. My kids didn't want to leave and kept going back to the same stations. It's also really clean, organized, and easy to navigate even with little ones. Pricing was reasonable for what you get abbout $25 for adults, $20 for kids, and under 2 is free, which is nice. Staff was friendly and everything felt well-maintained. You can tell they designed this place with kids in mind but adults still have fun too. Definitely a solid family day trip spot from LA. Would come back again

I figured out it was the Moxi. I guess it make quite the impression on her last year. The museum had some new exhibits this time around. They added a fun ball launcher that I also enjoyed as well. The water exhibit could use some love. Some of the hydraulic levers was either not working or you had to really work at it. My toddler was not strong enough to use them. One thing I like is that we were able to leave and come back after lunch. We got to make the most if our trip. I'm sure we'll ge back next year.
