I have 2 recommendations regarding flooring:…read more 1) Don't get travertine tile. Although this natural stone flooring is beautiful, it is porous and tends to get lots of small holes. It is difficult to maintain. 2) If you have travertine tile, then hire Jose from Marble & Tile Restorations Inc to clean, polish and maintain your floors. Jose and his helper did a fantastic job on our floors. He is very professional, courteous, and thorough. He cares about the quality of his work and makes sure the customer is completely happy with the results. We've hired 3 different companies over the years to clean and polish our floors, and Jose is by far the best. He took the time to fill in all the holes that I identified (& some that I didn't!), then cleaned and polished the floors using high quality products. He even gave me some filler compound and showed me how to use it (while deploying the "tricks of the trade") so I could continue fill the inevitable holes as they developed over time. Jose also refinished the grout in our bathrooms with a stain-proof sealer and they now look like new. The cost of the project was very competitive, especially given the amount of time and effort that Jose and his helper put into it. He also polished our granite countertops at no extra cost. Jose stands by his work. He offered to come back to polish a few replacement tiles we need to install because the holes have made the existing tiles unrepairable. Now that's service! I highly recommend Jose and his Marble & Tile Restorations company. He was even nice to my overly curious dog and cat. A good company with a nice owner.

They were referred to us by another vendor we used - Floor Removal Services who did an excellent job on removing our tiles. The owner was prompt for his appointment and very professional. He came with his state license and insurance information. He measured the floors and said he would send us a proposal. He did so in a timely manner. The proposal was fair and with a clear start and finish date. The owner himself came to do the tile with his crew. They arrived on time, went straight to work. Unfortunately, when I moved the stove, I discovered that he left dirt under it. When I called him, he said he didn't clean near stoves because of the electric outlet. He should have told me that before he even took the job so I could have chosen someone who would clean that area or at least so I would have known what to expect. Then when I asked him to return to do that area, he said it would be $200 to come back. There were so many ways to have made me a happy customer. He could have just cleaned that 2 square foot spot by hand, he could have told me he won't clean under stoves so I could pick someone else, he could have let me just nask off that area with a cover so there was no risk of cleaning near it. Instead, I got nothing. So 5 stars, minus 1 for not telling me ahead of time about the stove, minus 1 for the exhorbitant cost to return, and minus another for not living up to his 100% satisfaction guarantee.
